Rivvy and I were talking about the Dixieland/Confederate/Rebel flag, and I got a little  Discorded ...

I have nothing at all against the south, and I have nothing against those who are southern and fly the flag purely for heritage reasons.  

What I do have a problem with is seeing just how much the flag is used improperly by folks who ain't southern.  It bugs me only because it adds to the confusion of people misunderstanding the differences between cultures.  Just because a person is southern doesn't automatically mean they're country, and, just because someone is country doesn't automatically mean they're southern!  There can be country folk in any state, and normally it's because of small-town tradition and agriculture, and sometimes literal country area - as in, large areas of basically nothing but nature, such as fields, grass, woods, creeks, etc.  And, at the same time, there can be southern folk who aren't country because they live in a more modern or larger type of city.

Now, also bear in mind that I'm not getting involved into, *cough*, some of the bad things that some people might be using that flag to represent.   

Humbly, I'm actually kind of bashing/slamming the folks in my area who fly the [rebel] flag just because they give themselves a false name by using that flag.

Plus, (besides the American flag, of course), I don't a need [country] flag to fly.  I just let my area's essence speak for itself:
Corn.  Soybeans.  The Spoon River.  Corn.  And lastly... Emiquon and Dickson Mounds.
