More than a decade later, I'm finally posting in this thread…

My favorite episode of the show? The Perfect Pear. It achieved so much in a 22-minute package:

1. Really well-done humor, notably after AJ, Apple Bloom, and Big Mac found out they were half-Pears.
2. Some of the most heartwarming moments of the entire series, such as:
   1. Big Mac trotting back to ask Burnt Oak if he can occasionally come by to hear more stories of his late dad, Bright Mac.
   2. "You're in My Head Like a Catchy Song."
3. Grand Pear (and William Shatner's still alive and kicking well into his 90s) is the series's most tragic character. Disowning his daughter, Pear Butter, at the altar was the last time he ever saw her. Therefore, the episode teaches a really strong lesson about coping over a mistake you cannot repair, while simultaneously tying in Granny Smith's decision to forgive him and welcome him to the family.
4. The ending, as the Apple family sees the intertwined tree. One of the most beautiful endings to any episode.
