Snow Frostflame 3,565
I do not like modern music so 80's wins by a long shot
Nerdy Luigi 2,057
80's was probably the greatest decade in the last century. 2010's music has been mostly the crappiest "music" I ever hear. (It's not music.)
Castle Bleck 18,955
80s = hit after hit, but occasional s***. 2010s = s*** after s***, but occasional hits.
SparklingSwirls 21,103
Current gen music is ok if you stay away from the radio. The indie and international scene has some gems if you go digging. That. ^ I don't like mainstream "radio music" of the day, but I agree that some less-known music is really good if you look for it.
Kawaii Besu 27,940
In terms of mainstream music, 80's era wins by a megameter. In terms of underground/lesser know music, it depends. I mean, there's still lots of quality stuff in this current gen despite the mainstream bullcrap. Same thing goes for the 80's. You'd just have to find it and like it...
BronySteel 79
I'm inclined to say 80s because a lot of my favourite bands (Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth) were in their prime. That said, there was still a lot of bad music back then, we just only tend to remember the good stuff. The 21st century has had a lot of good music too, among the bad. A couple of my other favourite bands (Mastodon, Avenged Sevenfold) have made some great music in the last few years - and that's without mentioning that classic bands still make rocking music today. Generally, people that say 'today's music sucks" etc. don't look past the radio. Mainstream music today is definitely not to my liking - that doesn't mean it's bad - but there are plenty of good artists out there to enjoy. Khaoios 1,968
80's music is way better than present day music. Had more rythym compared to today where its just a hip-hop/Rap like style.
Envy 5,748
I do have a question, what type of rock would bands like Foreigner be under because I know Journey is under Arena Rock and the pretty much dominated that in the 80s, I will say that 90s had better alternative stuff and some stuff from the 80s really sucked I know this is an old post, but I wanted to respond to it. Perhaps that's silly because I don't actually know Foreigner all of that well. But I do know that the style of Foreigner in the late 70s (think Double Vision, Blue Morning Blue Day, Cold as Ice, etc.) is referred to as Arena Rock. After that I'm not too familiar with them, but they definitely drifted into 80s synth pop like stuff with hits like "I Want To Know What Love Is". If that's still considered "Arena Rock" which you say dominated the 80s, then 70s Arena Rock was waaayyyy better. =P
xX_PinkDragon_Xx 417
I'd say the 80's, but that's because the 80's were a good time when it came to music. My favorite song from that time period is:
