I sometimes wonder how my PC still holds out as well as it does...

I'm still hobbling along on an i5-3570 @3.4 GHz, 8GB RAM and an AMD R7 230. And yet I still hit 30+ FPS in most game I play.

Custom Built PC

Intel i5-4690K

Windows 8.1 Pro

16GB DDR3 1600 Quad Channel

250GB Samsung EVO SSD

1TB Hybrid Seagate Harddrive

Gigabyte GA-H97M-D3H Motherboard

Sapphire Radeon R9 390 8GB Video Card

Thermaltake Core V21 MicroATX Mini Tower Case

BenQ 1920x1080 Monitor

Can run most games at max or high, I usually prefer high because I don't see a difference and there isn't so much noise coming from the fans. Only for $800 (sales from last y ear)I would take this over any console any day.

I have a Mac Os X, Version 10.6.8.

Processor : 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory : 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Thats all that i know.

I would say its a good Computer, since it works perfectly, but i didnt voted for unstoppable Monster, since i never added anything to make my Mac better.

I dont even have a Apple Keyboard, i use a Microsoft Keyboard, because it was cheaper.

  • CPU Intel Core i5-4590
  • Cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
  • RAM G. Skill Ripjaw 8GB DDR3-1600
  • MoBo MSI Z97 Gaming 5
  • GPU MSI Radeon R9 290
  • HDD Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200RPM (I really don't "need" an SSD, so I don't have one.)
  • Case Corsair 500R in white
  • Optical drive ASUS... reader of all the things
  • PSU SeaSonic 620W 80+ Bronze
  • OS Win8.1 64 bit

The only things I've changed so far is the GPU has gone from an R9 290, to a GTX 970, then an R9 390, back to the 970, and now a GTX 980 Ti. Oh, and's all in a new case, a Fractal Design Define R5 in white with a window.

I plan to get a Skylake i5, LGA 1150 motherboard, 8 GB (possibly 16) DDR4 RAM, and an SSD. My beast will become a monster.

My computer is from 2010.  It just gets older and older.  The only real part that died on it was the 580 video card which I replaced with a 760 a year or two ago.  I also added an SSD drive when my windows install got unstable(putting a fresh build of windows 7 stopped those issues).  Currently the i7-950 processor is still about as fast as any reasonable current alternative.

The biggest "problem" I have is the sabretooth x58 motherboard.  It takes memory in threes and won't handle 8gb sticks, and doesn't like having 6 memory blocks.  So I still have the 6GB of memory in it that I started with, and really the best I could do is toss the three 2GB sticks and replace them with 4GB ones.

Time was if 6 years went by, the processors would be 50 times faster not 50 percent faster(if that and only if you buy high end).

I am about to upgrade my motherboard and CPU today, had to wait for them to replace my faulty motherboard that was sent(Now I have to wait for package hours at 7 PM at my dorm :okiedokielokie: )

  • CPU: I7 2600k (Upgrade: I5 6600. Decided to skip the k, overclocking is not necessary when I have never really needed it)
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte Z68 (Upgrade: ASRock Fatal1ty Gaming Z170. Skipped DDR4 too, benefit doesn't seem to come about until a few more years)
  • RAM: G.Skill Sniper DDR3 16 GB 1866 Mhz
  • HDD/SSD: 1 x 60 GB SSD (OS), 3 x 1 TB HDD's(One is unplugged as I only have 3 SATA ports on my current mobo), and 1 x 1 TB external HDD
  • OS: Windows 10 Pro 64 bit
  • GPU: MSI GTX 970

Current setup handles everything I need it to, but Black Friday sales seemed an appropriate time to upgrade. Plus my old CPU was getting up there in age. One of the most solid CPU's out there(Longevity wise), but it was time to move on to better.
