Windows 7 Home Premium x64

HP Elitebook 8540P Laptop

8GB DDR3 RAM

1GB NVIDIA NVS 5100M Dedicated Discrete Graphics

250GB High Performance Harddrive

2.53GHz Core i5 M 540 (Turbo Boostable 3.06GHz though I have no clue how to do that, and is I think is NOT recommended

as far as I'm concerned, overclocking will ruin your PC...)

You sure that something like a Hyper 212 EVO couldn't fit? I have a i5-6600 and it fits on my board.

Processor: AMD fx-8320 Eight-core processor

Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960

RAM: 16 gb

Windows 10

and some other decent components

Not an absolute monster compared to some peoples standards, but still a beast. Not much I can't do with it. I can run most new games on high settings.

Just got a new laptop :) It's an MSI GS43VR

5dwzKD6.jpg

Specs:

Core i7 6700HQ

GTX 1060 desktop-class GPU

16GB RAM

128GB SSD, 1TB HDD (I have a 500gb 850 Evo SSD that I might replace the HDD with)

14 inch, 1080p IPS display

Overall this is a pretty great laptop for the price I got it for. The gaming performance is phenomenal for being such a small laptop, thanks to the Pascal GPU. I've been playing GTA V at a nice mix of very high-ultra settings (completely maxing out the game tanks the FPS on any system without much visual gain) and it runs at a solid 60FPS. Temperatures are also pretty reasonable, with enough headroom for some GPU overclockable with the fans ramped up all the way. It's loud while gaming of course, but that's nothing wearing headphones won't solve.

Unfortunately, there's a pretty big issue that causes stuttering during everyday use. Nvidia Optimus is a feature that disables the Nvidia GPU during basic tasks to save power, but it constantly switches on and off, and when it does things freeze for a second. Apparently this is a pretty common issue with this laptop and there's no real fix yet, but it should be fixable in a software update. If it isn't fixed soon however, I may end up returning the laptop because this stuttering is very annoying :(
