Trainloads of Moderators Episode II: The Administration Strikes Back

Given the ever increasing size of our community and my ever dwindling sanity during these Swoopless times, the decision was made to expand the community administration department somewhat, bringing it from one (1) individual to three (3). It is with that goal in mind that Feld0, the chicken, and I looked to our existing moderation staff for administrative candidates; people with the judgement, cool head, and free time necessary to enjoy banging their heads into a concrete wall 24/7 for the greater good of the community.

 

We did not have to look far, nor for very long.

 

That said, it is with great satisfaction that I can announce (though most of you are probably already aware) @NewCalamity and 's ascension to the hallowed rank of Community Administrator, a position in the wisdom and prudence they've long displayed in staff affairs will be able to truly shine.

 

As community administrators they'll have a number of new responsibilities - responsibilities that are outlined in our brand new Staff Organizational Structure FAQ entry. If you've ever wondered who does what, or who reports to who, I'd recommend giving it a look - it's all very long, detailed, and makes us sound much fancier than we probably really are. <3

It even has pictures!

Yay, Spoon is a community administrator! This guy, without a doubt, is an awesome friend and a professional. I got the honour of working alongside him when I was on the staff, and he's always looking out for members while also handling things with a no-nonsense attitude! Quite the charming fella, too - this guy understands pop culture references better than most.

The more these moderation/staff assignments happen, the more happy I get. C: Both are more-than-worth for their respective positions, in my opinion.

 

We must always be prepared for the evil evilness of the trolls who hail from the deep bowels of the interwebs. It is with great pleasure and relief to say that I never have to fear of such a massacre, as the staff of this forum has always been overachieving in their works. And may it continue to be that way.

Both perfect candidates for admins. Frankly NC acted as sophisticated as an admin long before they were even promoted, and I can see Spoon will hold up the title well as well.

 

As for the character minimum descending, I'm glad my suggestion was taken so well among the staff. Hopefully the limit being slashed in half will encourage people to use the Welcoming Plaza more frequently, like what was once used. New people are the future of this place, so it's vital to gain lots of regulars periodically. Having a wide variety of welcomes for each welcome thread is essential for that goal to happen.

Oh, how silly of me. I forgot to mention the fantastically put together FAQ entry. The written piece is fantastic enough in of itself, but I think it's even more of a valuable resource now that there is a living document chart. Visual aid teamed up with a comprehensive and thoughtful organizational write up...that alien chicken's gotta be around here somewhere. Great job to you Scoots, and you too Feldy for making the charts into a simple to read graphic design poster.

I wish the best of luck to the two new admins. I'm sure they'll do a great job of keeping the community under control, giving the other admins and moderators and easier task in managing the forums.

 

I've seen NewCalamity and Spoon doing their moderating duties around the forums, and I can tell you that the way they operate is stellar. Not only are they good moderators, but they are also friendly, and helpful to the new user who might post something in the wrong place, or made a duplicate topic. They deserve the position that they have been promoted to, and I can't wait to see the dynamic duo in action.

 

Now all we need is a similar username for both of them, like Zoop and Swoop have. That would be cool. Why not Cloop and Soop?

I for one, welcome the new overlord's apprentices (What? Any overlord knows to have apprentices that can well betray him in moment of emergencies ). I can't say much about Spoon, but NewCalamity (or as I like to call him, Judge Calamity ) seems the...erm...yes, I'll use the same word others did, sophisticated person who can handle this things with grace and patience. Makes sense that Rarity is his avatar, especially decked in that badass armor. This doesn't surprise me in the slightest. That said, I hope that this new roles don't deprive them of the sunlight that is so necessary for the skin, and that with Scootacool and Zoop, they can make a team of moderating enjoyability for this forum to possess, all this, obviously done by the supervision of Feld0.

With all the lack of forum Mods and even admin, this is great. I wish you guys luck in your new positions, and that you do them well! Don't be afraid, as I'm sure you guys can do it. You'll be able to make MLP forums into a better place! And like Zoop said, you guys will have many new duties to do, so do them well! Make wise choices (I sound like some teacher or whatnot now )!

Of course it isn't and if you think it is, shut up. Zoop and the gang know what they're doing, and NC totally deserves to be an admin. That guy is like liquid nitrogen when it comes to being cool under pressure.

Hey, don't be hatin' on my Admin Mentor Buddy, yo. Us agents of chaos gotta stick together. The incoming reign of the LokiCord pact is coming, and ain't no silly harmony ponies gonna stop the inevitable overthrowing of Feld0.

 

On another note, I look forward to seeing the third and final sequel to this trilogy. Now that we have our first round of broken-in moderators, and now two additional over-powered alicorns, a few more newbie mods will finish this off just in time for the final sprint to Season Three.

And so the merciless grip of the moderators tightens ever more around the collective throat of our hapless community, as we become little worker ants with no function other than feeding meaningless brohoofs to Zoop Er...what I meant to say, of course, is congratulations to the two newest mods. They deserve it. Try not to paddle them senseless on their first day, Discord. (That kind of suffering should be inflicted gradually.)

 

Also, thank you for not promoting Batbrony. His muffin fanaticism frightens me.

 

Can I squeeze in one more joke here? Nah. I can, but I shouldn't. Seriously, good news all around and lowering the character limit in the Plaza is a splendid idea.
