Moments can be so long, feeling almost eternal when life is hanging from just a thin line. In fractions of an instant Colt was able to feel the flux of current rising from the ground, inviting its counterpart from the sky to burn like the sparks of sun itself. It was exhilarating, his mind focused on the power of nature making each second to last minutes, each detail had to be be perfect, each movement had to be exact each thread of magic had to be impeccable. By now his mind, soul spirit and body were so devoted to his next move the scene looked like frozen in time. The approaching to him seamed immobile, the sharp thorns they were shooting at him looked like frozen in midair no sound could reach his ears no feeling could reach his skin all the dragon was expecting for the next moment. Colt stayed there expecting, exited, almost unable to contain the thtill he was having his left arm raised to the sky and the invisible charged particles of power followed it, showing the to the heavens wrath.

And then felt it mother nature told to his soul and magic, the beam from the skies raced to him, in less than a sliver of a moment the body of Colt sparkled, covered by the ground current controlled by his magic all flowing to the palm of his hand.  The force of the sky crashed on the dragon’s palm at the same time its counterpart from earth reached it too, the lighting was now in his hand, with and with the almost instant move of his arm the lighting left his body in the direction of the timber giants in front of him. The thrones that almost reach their target combusted into nothing when the stream of power ran through the air, the blast burning around the lightning looked like a blaze of raw energy that made , and the raw impact of plasma went through the bodies of the soul less treats breaking and burning their bodies in half.

KRAKOOMϟϟϟϟ

Endless splinters turn to ashes as the lighting pierced the wood of its owners blasting them from the inside with an explosion that filled the forest with a deafening thunder the; treants upper bodies were now falling into the ground half burned and with sparks escaping from their “wooden flesh” tearing their insides apart, it was over it was when the world came back to him.

Satisfied of the outcome Colt mind and senses returned to reality, time was now flowing again for the dragon’s mind and with it the sound of the carnage, the sight of victory and the pain of deficiency. The lack of strength of its current condition was now evident and engraved in his left arm, while successful in the intention the attack of colt was a failure in execution, he was unable to react as fast as needed and his magic power was not enough to protect from the magnificent lighting Alex send his way, the smell of burnt flesh and the pain of an injured arm were now proves of his weakened state.

For moments the stings in his arm and the depletion of his magic blurred his eyes, and made him lose his equilibrium for a bit, still it was no time to lament, or to fall, even when the foes were down the forest and the one behind them was still dangerous for the group,  holding his lacerated limb Colt turned back to the ponies that were watching, he waved at the group while walking to them and smiling made a sing pointing with two of his fingers from his forhead  towards Alex, “That was some terrifying bolt Alex it was amazing” he praise the great help he got from pegasus  “We have to move, whoever sent this puppets must know his creations have failed”, he continued looking at them knowing that this creatures were nothing more than mere puppets. “We are not on our top game now… as you can see” he said not hiding the “failure” of his attack. “Also Daylight is down and we need to recover strength and find a safe spot to do so.” Colt turned to Ice the leader of the group “Ice,  we need to get to that bridge fast”

As Electrobolt was paralyzed in fear, he continued to watch as the treant slowly began to swing it's branch-like arm, seeing it slowly get closer and closer to him. Right then and there, he regained his ability to move his hooves, if only to cower in fear, crouching and covering his head, waiting for the impact. However, it felt like the moment was taking forever, as the impact didn't arrive yet. So moving a hoof over to peek, he noticed that the scenery was moving. In fact, he didn't feel the solid ground beneath him anymore. "What..." he muttered to himself, before looking up to see Alex.

"I gotcha, Bolt!" Alex said to him, dropping him back to the ground near the group before darting back up above the canopy with ear-splitting speed to gather more clouds to create a thunderhead to burn the treants to a crisp.

Breathing a sigh of relief as he heard Alex speak before returning to the ground, Electrobolt looked at Alex as he was about to thank him. But, just like that he went off again, back to work on his part of the fight. It was then that Daylight had approached the young colt, about to ask him something. However, he stopped once he felt a chill, just like Electro did himself. Looking over to Ice, she seemed rather mad, as she began to unleash an extremely powerful attack on one of the treants, causing it to topple over and knock another treant over.

*Yikes... Remind me never to make her angry...* he thought, spooked at what he just witnessed. However, neither of them had paid attention to the third treant, which shot thorns at Ice. Although Ice's shield of ice blocked most of them, one thorn still broke through and pierced her knee, causing her to fall over as she rested herself against the shield. Shocked at what just happened, he just remained there as Day rushed to her side. While he did that, Iron Wing began to charge at the thorn-shooting treant, barely affected by it's onslaught of thorns.

Once she was close enough, she then began to unleash a barrage of attacks on the treant, not stopping until it was knocked down too. At that moment, Daylight began trembling as he began to approach the downed treant. After warning Iron to get out of the way, he then began to charge a spell. "What... What are you doing...?" Electrobolt whispered to himself, uncertain of what Daylight is up to. Just then, Day fired off a massive beam of light, which caused Electrobolt to quickly look the other way, covering his eyes. He left his eyes closed tight, covered with his hooves, until he could tell that the light was dissipated.

Once the light was gone, he slowly uncovered his eyes, before opening them. Slowly turning around, he then saw that Daylight had been knocked back a good distance, as he was slowly trying to return to Ice, before collapsing. "Daylight... Why did you push yourself so hard..." he whispered, watching him slowly push himself to Ice before passing out next to her. This shook the young colt back to his senses as he hurried over to Daylight's side, kneeling down next to him. "Daylight..." he barely whispered. "Why did you do this..." He shook his head as he remained by Daylight, hearing Colt shout something to Alex. What he said though, he didn't really get. He was focused on the unicorn right now.

After a bit, he heard the crack of lightning, but paid no mind to it, until a little later when he heard an enormous cracking sound. Eyes wide open, he turned his head around to see Colt and destroyed treants. Upon looking back at Colt, he could tell that he had some injuries on his body. He then recalled the first cracking sound, as he recalled the lightning. "Wait... You mean..." he barely uttered in a hushed tone before hearing Colt speak to the group. This was no time to be afraid or show worry. They needed to get moving. Shaking his head, he got back onto his hooves before working Daylight's body onto his back, being as careful as he can with holding the goldenrod unicorn on his back. Looking at the rest of the group, he said, "We should start moving then, as soon as we're all ready and good to go."

“You’ll probably want to move Iron.” He said to her in a very deep and cold voice that was very unlike his own. “I will try my best not to hit you but I can’t guarantee that I won’t.”

"Wait, what?" Iron just replied as Daylight stepped in to do something. She didn´t know why he wanted to attack a defeated enemy, but she didn´t want to get hit by this magic either. She jumped down from the tree and landed on her hooves with a big noise, causing to make some heavy prints of hooves on the ground. She went to the side as Daylight shot his energy beam onto the treant. It got iluminated within light and everything left behind was just ash. Iron knew that unicorns were powerfull and she had seen many battle spells until now. She always wished for an ability like this for herself, that would have made many fights easier for her, but she was born as a pegasus pony. There was just no way that she would learn spells since she hadn´t a horn to amplify magic.

“Alex!! Hit me with a lightning!! ” Colt dashed and kept on the move knowing the request was ridiculous and out of any sense he knew a weather pony would never use his skills like this so he needed to pushed Alex to do so “JUST DO IT DON’T THINK!!!”

Iron could hear Colt shouting things that made for her not much sense. "Why should he do that? Colt have you gone nuts? Why does everypony want to get injured that badly?" she just shouted, but it was already too late. The lightning hit Colt and he used the energy for a spell to extend his magic powers. After the other treants where defeated she just sighed. Ice couldn´t walk for a while since the only healer Daylight had fainted and Colt had no healing spells at all. The pegasus was aware of some healing skills she learned at her guardian school, but not much for critical wounds. Colt himself smelled like burned Onions since the lightning had struck him. She thought about that and she had to shake her head a bit... Blazing Storm was weird, but tasting this weeks before she got aware about that was just funny.

“That was some terrifying bolt Alex it was amazing” he praise the great help he got from pegasus

Iron Wing went to Colt and hit him slightly into the side with one hoove. "You love to get injured, even if you didn´t heal completely, right? I should have known..." she mumbled to him, giving him a fierce look. No wonder that his sister was always looked after her brother. "We will look for wounds after Daylight recovered some strength. I hope you can walk a greater distance..." she said, while going into Ice Storms and Daylights direction. It was nor important to stay mobile and to move the injured to a safe place.

She went next to Ice and looking at her injury. "Hold still..." she said in a soft tone and got some bandages out of her saddlebag. The wound of Ice needed medical attention and since Daylight wasn´t able to cast spells, Iron Wing was to give her first aid. After the treatment it looked fine for Iron Wing, but walking was not the best option for Ice Storm now. So without further asking, she went to the side of her and lifted her onto her back with some short and strong moves. With her wings she held Ice into place so that she wouldn´t fall down. "You will stay there until we reach the other side of the bridge, Sister. You won´t be able to walk long distances with this leg. If Daylight returns from his dreamworld, maybe he can heal you. No disagreement will be accepted..." she said with a determined expression to Ice.

Shaking his head, he got back onto his hooves before working Daylight's body onto his back, being as careful as he can with holding the goldenrod unicorn on his back. Looking at the rest of the group, he said, "We should start moving then, as soon as we're all ready and good to go."

"Colt, are you ready to leave? Alex, what about you? Could take Colts scouting job for a short while and look at the bridge for us?" she shouted into Alex direction. "Colt, since Electro and I are playing mules here, you have to be on the ground and escort us to the bridge. I know that you have some injuries, but we have to be strong now. If we are being attacked now, it would be bad, so we need a little defense here, and Alex is the only one who can fly very fast now." she explained to the dragon. She looked at everypony and started to walk. "Everpony, lets move! We are going to reach the bridge and none shall stop us!" she gave the command to leave this place. She was now wearing her heavy armor, her equipment, Ice Storm and Ice´s equipment on her back, and she moved a bit slower than before. But since she had great strength, she moved without stopping or grunting, just like a mechanical creature she had always the same tact within her movements.

Ice watched and listened around her as the battle continued to carry on. At the moment if was all that she could do. She couldn't feel the bottom of her leg, except for a decent amount of stinging pain from the thorn that was in her knee. "Blasted tree... I should have been paying more attention to what the other one was doing..." she stated to herself as she watched Iron and Daylight both spring into action. Iron initially took point to intercept the attacking treant while Daylight ran over to Ice. He seemed to break down in front of her apologizing because he was mesmerized by watching her and didn't see the other treant in time to warn her about the thorns. She then sensed a strong magical energy forming within him and she heard a loud thud behind her as well as him telling Iron that she'd best move.

Upon doing so, a super charged beam of light, one that made her Ice Blade look like a toy, completely incinerated the fallen treant. In one last breath before he blacked out, he said that he had done that for her. Ice smiled and gave him a gentle nuzzle, though a bit scared now. If Daylight was willing to go this far for a thorn, she couldn't imagine how far he'd go if something actually happened to her. "Rest easy," she said softly, looking up to see how Colt was doing with his trees. She may have had a bum leg, but she wasn't out of this fight, or at least so she thought. While Cold was struggling a bit to hold his own, he had Alex shoot him with a bolt of lightning, which to Ice, was absolutely crazy, but it seemed to work.

Just then though, Iron Wing came over to her and spoke in a soft, warming tone, telling her to hold still, which she did. She watched as Iron reached into her saddle bag and pulled out some bandages and began to wrap them around the wound on her knee, tightly enough to where it would help restrict movement in her leg, but still allow blood flow. Then without warning, Iron lifted Ice up onto her back, and told her that until Daylight woke up and her leg was able to be fixed, that she'd be staying there, and that no wasn't an acceptable answer.

Ice's heart melted inside of her, and her entirety felt like pudding as she lay on her sister's back. She couldn't say no to her even if she was in a position where she could. Instead, she just clutched Iron as tightly as she could without chocking her and then gave her a long, passionate kiss on her cheek before resting her head against her neck. "With my big sis hear to protect me, how can I say no," she smiled up at her. Then colt mentioned that the trees were being controlled by something, and by know they probably knew that they had failed. They needed to get to the bridge and fast. Ice nodded and pulled out the compass, and the map to get their bearings set so that she knew where they were. Then with a point of her hoof, "That way," she said pointing to the northwest, wanting to get away from here as soon as possible.

Alex felt the slight shockwave and the heat beaming off of the lightening bolt as it traveled faster than the blink of an eye to his target, which in this case was the dragon Colt.  He saw a spectacular show of light and fire crackling along the ground as the bolt passed through Colt to the remaining treants facing the scaly behemoth.  The light show blinded Alex for just a second as he saw through squinted eyes that the remaining treants were cut down with signs of burns running across the large gashes of the now dead trees.

Alex looked back down at Colt who gave him praise for creating a magnificent bolt of lightening.  "Yeah and then, I fried you like a banana..."  Alex thought to himself sarcastically as he now wondered why he didn't just bring the thunderhead closer to the treants instead of electrocuting their biggest asset.  He still gave a small wave of recognition to Colt as he rejoined the others, seeing that the action was over for now.  Alex surveyed the situation, looking at everybody and listening to the words being exchanged.  Iron Wing made the suggestion to have him be their scouter until Colt could be healed by Daylight who was now knocked out from using too much energy in his blast on an already disabled tree.  "Alright, I'll take care of it.  Hey, Colt.  Don't ever ask me to do something like that again because I'm not gonna have the Iron Mare clip my wings over it."  Alex said to the group before he turned his attention to Colt.

Ice nodded and pulled out the compass, and the map to get their bearings set so that she knew where they were. Then with a point of her hoof, "That way," she said pointing to the northwest,

Alex then focused his attention to Ice Storm who was now on Iron Wing's back.  He made a note to what her compass was correlating to the map and where her hoof was pointing at.  He saw a dirt path leading further into the forest and it was just as ominous if it could be anymore.  "Alright then, I'll be your eye in the sky."  Alex said to the group before blasting off through the canopy.

He did a complete three hundred-sixty degrees as he scanned the area for a moment.  He was about to finish the sweep until he spotted something off in the distance to their southeast.  He looked closer as he saw that the trees off in the distance were swaying quite roughly.  He knew that the winds were only light to medium, so he had a feeling as he narrowed his eyes to get a better look.  A few seconds later, he actually saw tree branches were moving around and knew that they were more treants.  It seemed however that they weren't heading in their direction...  For now.  Alex looked back down to the group through a hole in the canopy.  "Hey, let's move it or lose it.  I'm not excited to get more company."  Alex shouted to the group before flying ahead of the group on the designated path to the northwest in search of the bridge or at least a large gap that held the remains of a bridge.

"Why should he do that? Colt have you gone nuts? Why does everypony want to get injured that badly?"

"Sorry"  the dragon said to Iron wing with some cold sweat running down his neck, he knew he made a mistake getting injured but.. "It was the only way to take both down in one shot...sadly my magic was far from good, and the arm...well is not that bad just some scales burnt here and there see.." he moved his arm a little to show he was ok... but didnt turn out that well "mmmmph", a muted sign of pain came up from his throat and chest.

But on the good side of things the battle was over and even where there were some injuries all pones went through the battle something that was quite an achievement given what the attackers were.

Colt, since Electro and I are playing mules here, you have to be on the ground and escort us to the bridge. I know that you have some injuries, but we have to be strong now. If we are being attacked now, it would be bad,

"My claw is not that bad, but yes I would prefer too stay in the ground just in case we need to face some other thing" he said trying to fake the condition he was in, his magical power was almost depleted and the pain on his arm getting worse, although the ponies didnt need to know all of that, and if there were more threats in their road to the palace he would face it no matter his actual limitations.

He found cute how close Ice and Iron were becoming and alse she looked like real sisters with their blue coats, he thought for some seconds of Dazzling Wing and picture her with them making a full triplet Grayhoof moment, one he hoped to happen and one that helped him to regain his conviction towards this all afair. The winds were still blowing and time was running out.

The dragon took mental notes of Iron Wing instructions and everypony was getting ready to continue the journey, Colt looked once more to the downed trees and was able to feel nothing form them, the magic and control over the timber was gone and he realized his suspicions about them were right, they were puppets controled by powerfull magic and that were terrible news, he was unable to picture who or what was able to create dominate such magic but the dragon knew by experience it was a powerful. being

"Alright then, I'll be your eye in the sky."

Taken out of his thoughts by Alex and his reference to Iron Wing the dragon smiled as he took off, "Ok everypony time to walk Ill be with you and keep an eye on our backs we have Alex up there and he will tell us if there is something wrong lets all keep calm and a swift trot no  unnecessary stops until we find that bridge, but if you need to rest or exchange your "passenger" with me for a while we can rest." he said to the group there were many things in his mind but he focused and tried to maintain his game at the best he could.

Some minutes were spent in the walk felt like half an hour the stupor of the fight was gone and the dragon thought it was a good time to talk about his "findings". "I dont know if  you noticed, but those creatures were not alive" he said while walking to the side of Iron wing "They gain movement and an order from somepony or something that infuse them with magic...I encountered similar things  in the past, as far as I know the magic used fur such purposes is ancient and in most of cases forgotten" completed and for some moments silence took hold of the group "Still I have to say you guys surprised me, i  never imagined to see power like the one Ms Ice and Daylight shown back there, also you got some big stallion guts in you electro, I was worried for all of you... but it was my own fear not yours, you can make it through this... we can, i have faith we can do it." even when this all was to boost the group morale he meant each word they were amazing in their own way and while saying so he lent down to Iron's ear to whisper a little bit more. "That goes also to you my Iron knight"

As Electrobolt was ready to go and get a move on, he saw Iron with Ice on her back. It was at that time that the iron-clad mare asked Alex if he could be their eyes in the sky instead of Colt. Considering how injured Colt was, even though he was trying to hide it, Electrobolt felt that Iron made a smart move. Right now, Alex was the only one of the group who could currently do anything about scouting. It was at that point that Ice had pointed out the direction to the bridge, at which Alex took off into the skies, scouting ahead for the group.

After that, and some words from Colt, the group then started to move again, as Electrobolt moved as carefully as he could with Daylight on his back, while also trying to move as fast as he could possibly go. Looking over to Iron, he could see that she had no problems, mainly because she had wings which she could use to balance Ice safely. *Would be nice to have those, so I don't have to worry about Daylight falling off on accident...* he thought, before shaking his head. Now was not the time to worry about such trivial things. Instead, he focused on continuing on, his mind set on getting to the bridge.

It was then that Colt started to speak up to the group, talking about the creatures they faced against earlier. *Wait... Those things were... Not alive? They were infused with magic and commanded by something else? So... They were basically puppets...?* the young colt pondered in his mind. However, the next few words shook him out of his thoughts, as Colt then began to state his surprise at the group's strength. When he mentioned Day's and Ice's power, he sighed. *Yeah, but that power drained them, it seems...* were his starting thoughts, before Colt continued and surprised Electrobolt slightly.

When Colt said that he had some "big stallion guts", he stopped in his tracks for a second. He didn't quite expect a compliment like that, especially considering he was dead nervous during the whole thing. Especially when he had tripped over one of their roots, and had been left defenseless. Had it not been for Alex, he would have been a pony pancake. He really needs to watch his step next time, as if it happened again... Shuddering slightly at the thought, he cleared his mind and looked over to the group, whom had made some progress on him. "Aw shoot..." he whispered as he carefully hurried to the rest of the group.

Once he made it back to the others, he slowed down and took in a quick breath. "Um... Sorry about that..." Electrobolt apologized, as he sighed. "I don't really know what came over me there..." Looking over to Colt, he knew that he meant well. So in response, Electrobolt said, "Um, Colt? Uh, thanks for those words... But to be honest, I was pretty nervous back there..." Shaking his head, he then wore a small smile as he continued on. "But don't worry about me, I'll be fine. As you said, we'll make it through this. We'll all come out of this together." With that, he focused once more on the road ahead. *Alright, Electro... No more being scared. From now on, give it your all, and do your best.*

The dragon stopped for a second and waited the young stallion to catch up he saw how he was enduring the gallop still with the unicorn on his back, perseverance and endurance were traits in this almost adult foal and the dragon could see how much they both shared... or at least his younger self from years ago did.

"Um, Colt? Uh, thanks for those words... But to be honest, I was pretty nervous back there..."

"Well, I think there was not a single one of us that didn't got a chill after seeing those creatures" the dragon said walking again this time keeping company to the young pony.  "We all have things to lose in a battle, the more dangerous the greatest our loses can be, you put your life in the line back there just as we all did. If you ask me I would say its good  that you were nervous, after all you cherish what you have back there in Ponyvile and right here" he said so with a gentle poke on Electro's chest. "Bravery and Valor are not the reflections of having no fear Bolt, being fearless means you have nothing to lose, that you are hollow and that your life doesn't worth a thing. What Bravery and Valor really are is the will to stand against fear, face it and overcome it just what you did against those puppets and what you have been doing ever since you joined this quest". said the dragon understanding the feelings of ElectroBolt while being in this quest.

"You trusted in the ponies around you, in the mare that believed in you and in your self by doing so, yes there were some mistakes here and there" the dragon showed his arm, "but in the end you faced your fears and survived the battle and here you are putting one hoof in front of another helping that friend you have in your back with the will to save what is important for you" Colt looked into the earth pony eyes " just believe a little more in what you have here" once again the dragon pointed to the pony heart, "we all believe in it that heart of yours you should do so too".

The dragon kept on forward looking into the sky and the sun that sparkled between the leafs of the Everfree orchard "Wish I had that valor when I was your age... maybe things would have been different  his mind prayed with memories in his thoughts.

Iron smiled as her sister accepted the situation and just went with it, and she enjoyed the warm hug and the resting of her head against her neck. She flipped her ears into different directions to scan the area to do a little check. But it seemed that no other creatures were about to attack, so she started to move into the direction of the bridge. They had to achieve their goal of this evening fast. Iron thought about the tactical situation and it would be disastrous if some creatures would attack now. Alex went up into the skies and Iron went a bit faster, finding a good speed with Ice on her back. Electro seemed to talk to Colt a bit and Daylight was still unconscious. That left enough time to talk to Ice a bit more, also time would go faster if she had someone to talk to. "Hope you feel comfortable sis. To be honest, you should talk to Daylight later, it was not good just to burn the defeated treant. Now we don´t have a healer... if he would have used his magic to heal you, we all could walk now." she explained to Ice.

"I hope you aren´t too nervous if you meet our parents. This will be great!" she started a new topic.Iron wanted to take the chance to tell Ice Storm a bit about her family since she didn´t even knew them until now. "My dad is a guardian in canterlot, but he is at home every weekend. He is strong and proud, but sometimes he reacts a bit strange to things he doesn´t understand. He has a photo album about the family he maintains. Our mother is a very important Grayhoove... she is the best tactician at the clan and sometimes she uses her analyses at home aswell. She has very high pony knowledge and she finds out everything without even talking to some pony. She seems cold from time to time, but she is very guarding and loving. Then there is your little sister Dazzling Wing! She is like a walking energy drink, she would love to be a super hero and she is hyper active." she told Ice about her new family. Iron thought that it would be important to know everything about her family.

They walked for a while until Iron got sight of the bridge. It seemed old and damaged, the abyss was deep and filled with fog. It was difficult to tell how deep it went down or what was beyond the fog. It was spooky and strange noises appeared from the depths of the canyon. "Uh.... better no pony falls down there..." she said loud and went to the bridge. It looked like it could break any second and it would be impossible for even one pony to climb on that... not to think about a pony with heavy armor and a passenger on her back. "Hmmm... what to do.... ah, i know!" she said, smiling to Ice. She spread her wings to their full extend. "How about a little flight sis?" she asked Ice. Of course it could be a bit difficult, but since she was a transportation and lifting pony on construction sites, she was used to lift things with great weight.

The rest of the journey to get to the bridge was uneventful, much to the hopes of Ice. In their current condition, anything coming after them now would surely put a huge strain on everypony. Especially given the fact that she couldn't move by herself at the moment, and Daylight was out cold. She then heard Iron tell her that she should talk with Day and see if she could get his emotions stable. She explained that had he have healed her instead of burning a defeated tree, then she'd be able to walk now, and that Day would still be awake. Ice nodded. "I'll see what I can do. I'll admit it was rather cute, but you're right, it ended up being a bit inefficient, all things considered. Still, it's good to know the extent of which that he's willing to go to keep us safe," she smiled as she listed to Iron explain her parents to her.

She told her that her father was a guard in Canterlot, which she had mentioned earlier, adding though that he sometimes reacts a bit strange to things that he didn't understand. That statement alone built up some worry in her. Most other ponies couldn't understand how a near adult pony still had a bed-wetting issue and still had to wear protection to bed at night just to wake up to a dry bed the next morning. She could only hope that he would at least be understanding of her situation. Then Iron mentioned that her mother was probably the most important Greyhoove in the clan, and one of the smartest tacticians alive. She added that she could seem a bit cold at times, but there would never be anypony more loving than she. This made sense to Ice, as to at least, this is what she thought a parent was supposed to be. She didn't really know for sure, but this was at least what she had seen from others.

Iron then explained her new sister, which made Ice happy from the start when Iron said that she was like a walking energy drink and that she would love to be a super hero one day. At this response Ice nuzzled Iron's neck. "Why would she need to be a super hero when she's got the best one right here," she told her with a smile as the group finally got to the bridge. It was about dusk, and gusts could be seen kicking up in the canopy. They hadn't reached the forest floor yet, but the winds were coming none-the-less. Iron looked over the edge of the ravine, and the stated of the bridge was neigh impassable. It looked like it would collapse with the first hoof stepped on it. She was about to reply to Iron's comment about a little flight when an earth shattering roar came from deep within the ravine. The concussions from the soundwaves were strong enough to create a small earthqauke, and made Ice fall off of Iron's back, falling onto her bad leg, electing a loud yelp from her upon impact. In away that was good, cause it meant that she was starting to get feeling back in her leg, but bad at the same time because now she knew that she had just injured it even more. Her leg was now on fire with pain as it coursed through her knee.

The roar came again as a large, shadowy figure launched itself into the air, and landed on the edge of the ravine, right in front of the group. It's maw gaped wide, and it's inky black venom could be seen rolling down it's large fangs. The creature looked almost demon-like in nature, and looked to be almost pure shadow in nature as if a pony looked closely they could see the outline of the terrain through it's incorporeal body. Ice took all this in and announced. "This... thing... is made of shadow.... conventional.... attacks won't work on it..." she hissed through bits of shooting pain from her leg. She almost wished that she hadn't regained feeling in it yet.

As soon as he had finished his thoughts, Colt began to speak once more, talking to Electrobolt. When he started talking about valor and bravery, Electrobolt looked at the dragon with slight confusion. *Bravery and valor...? What does that have any---* he thought, before cutting himself off as said that being fearless means having nothing to lose, and being hollow inside with life not really having worth to it. He then added that bravery and valor meant overcoming fear to fight for something that he held dear. Once he heard that, he blushed a little as he looked to the side.

Once Colt began to speak again, Electrobolt looked back over to him as his face still held the slight blush that he had on his face when he looked away. As he spoke, Colt then showed his injured arm before saying that Electro overcame his fears and that he survived, now moving forward with Daylight being carried on his back since he isn't able to move himself right now. When Colt looked into his eyes and told him to believe in himself more, and that everypony around them believes in him, he didn't know what to say or think. Perhaps these words were what he needed to hear, as a smile started to form on his face. With a nod, he said, "Um, alright Colt... And thanks again..."

As he continued to move onward, he looked towards his back to see how Daylight was holding up. Glad to see that he was still there and not about to slide off his back, he nodded and returned his attention to the path ahead of him. After a few minutes, he then saw that they reached the bridge, which seemed to be in a pretty bad state. *Yikes... I don't think I'd wanna risk trying to cross that bridge...* he thought, still observing the state of the bridge. Just then, however, he heard an earth-shattering roar which then caused him to jump.

Upon doing that, however, he ended up causing Daylight to slide off his back and land on the ground. *Shoot! Sorry Day...* he thought, before working the unicorn onto his back again. Just then, the roar sounded once more as he nearly jumped a second time. Thankfully, he didn't knock Day off his back for the second time in that minute. Turning around quickly, he then looked at the ravine as he saw a shadowy creature emerge from the depths. As he looked at the creature, he couldn't help but shiver.

*Just... Just what in Celestia's name is that???* he thought, scared out of his mind. When he heard Ice speaking, his worries only increased. *So this thing can't be harmed by conventional methods...?* he repeated in his mind. *Then... Then what will???* As his gaze was kept on the creature, he then spoke up loud enough for Iron to hear. "So, um... Iron...?" he asked, a hint of fear in his voice. "What... What's the plan...?"

The concussions from the soundwaves were strong enough to create a small earthqauke, and made Ice fall off of Iron's back, falling onto her bad leg, electing a loud yelp from her upon impact.

Iron was waiting for a reply from Ice about flying to the other side as a roar was heared, causing a little earthquake. Ice lost the balance on Irons back and fell down. As she heared the yelp of Ice she turned around the same instant to look at her Sister. "Oh my gosh, i´m sorry that i didn´t hold you! Is everything alright? Does you leg hurt?" she asked fast with a concerned look on her face. Iron worried about what happened and looked at the leg and hoped that it wasn´t too bad. Then something landed on the edge of the ravine and the earth rumbled again. The knightly mare turned around to look into the dark creature which was blocking the way and looked dangerous. As she looked a bit closer she could notice that she was able to look through the creature. Iron knew what they all were dealing with and Ice said it loud.

"This... thing... is made of shadow.... conventional.... attacks won't work on it..." she hissed through bits of shooting pain from her leg.

Iron has fought a creature similar to this one, but with some differences. A shadow was just a shadow, not material until it decided ot be. For a shadow creature were several possiblilties to attack, from materialising a part of the body to do a hit, to cast magical spells or to infiltrate the mind or body of another creature. This monster didn´t look like it was able to use the body of another creature... it looked more wild, so Iron couldn´t imagine that this shadow was able to use much magic. So it had to materialise to do an attack. For a normal pony without any magical spells the best thing was to defend against the attacks and if possible, escape from the battle.

As his gaze was kept on the creature, he then spoke up loud enough for Iron to hear. "So, um... Iron...?" he asked, a hint of fear in his voice. "What... What's the plan...?"

Iron heared Electros question and thought about a strategy very quickly. "Electro, try to wake up Daylight, and do it fast! Ice and Daylight may have to combine their magical powers with Colt to defeat that monster! Day´s light magic would be the most efficient weapon in our arsenal, so it´s important for him to join the battle. Alex, you have to confuse this monster a bit! If possible get us some clouds onto the ground to block the line of sight! Use your speed to be a diversion! Electro, you are going to do everything Daylight and Ice need to cast their spells. If needed, help Ice to stand, you are our supporter now! Colt you are coming with me! We are going on a frontline defense position. If this monster attacks, it´s possible that it has to materialise shortly. These attacks can be blocked! Don´t use magic until Day and Ice are ready!" she said, getting Ice on her back again and carrying her to Daylight and Electro. Softly she got Ice on the ground and went into a defensive position some meters in front of the other ponies, spreading her wings and unfolding her wing blades...

Darkness. It was the only thing he could see, or feel. It was like he was floating in an eternal nothingness, complete with a eery silence. “Am I dead?” Day thought. He tried to move, but found he couldn't for some reason. He wasn't able to cast any spells either. There was nothing to do for now but wait...

After some time had passed, Daylight began to hear something. Noises, voices talking, but it was very muffled. At the same time, some of the feeling started to return to his body, though he wished it hadn't though because it only brought on a very uncomfortable pain with it. Any movement he tired only intensified the pain so he quickly gave that up.

As his senses slowly continued to awaken, it felt as if he was moving, but not by his own power.

One of them must be carrying me... but who?” He thought.

The voices now we're starting to become clear, and he was sure he could recognise some of them if he listened closely...

There was a deep, growly voice, which he recognised as Colt’s coming from somewhere nearby. He had managed to regain partial control of his body and his ears twitched as he tried to listen to as much as he could.

"...those creatures... not alive... gain movement...somepony or something... infuse magic...encountered similar things... in past... ancient and forgotten.

Not Alive?” he thought. “Well... I guess that makes sense. Those tree’s did seem quite weird... only magic could do something like that, but not any magic I’ve ever heard of...”

“Still... you guys surprised me... never imagined to see power... Ice and Daylight... got some big stallion guts in you electro...”

He smiled to himself after hearing this. To be honest, he had surprised himself too. He had never done anything that powerful before, nor was he wanting to try it again anytime soon. He had to agree with Colt though Electro had been pretty brave for what he did...

Suddenly Day felt himself stop moving. He tried to open one eyelid to see what was going on but they still felt too heavy and him too weak. Just as quick as it had stopped though, it had started again, so he dismissed any concerns that he had.

"Um, Colt?... thanks... But to be honest... pretty nervous back there..."

He then heard a new voice, one very familiar that seemed to be coming from directly in front of him. Considering that, as well as how whoever was carrying him had stopped moving when he had heard Colt speak Electro’s name, he came to the conclusion it must be him who was carrying him. He could also feel that there was something tickling his nose too, which he assumed must be Electro’s fur. For some strange reason it smelt like... Watermelons.
Huh... that makes a lot of sense for some reason... I wonder what shampoo he uses...” He thought, considering asking him later on when he had the chance, but feeling too embarrassed to do so.

By this point he could make out what the two of them were saying a lot clearer, but it sounded like a personal talk between the two of them so he tried not to eavesdrop too much, but there wasn't much else he could do at the moment.

Then there was a third voice he heard, a mare’s one. Which diden’t take him too long to identify as Iron’s. He assumed that she must be talking to Ice from how she was mostly telling her about her own family, which he ignored as it was not for him to hear, except for one sentence at the beginning which got his attention as he heard his name mentioned...

...you should talk Daylight later, was not good to burn the defeated treant. Now don´t have a healer... if he used magic to heal you, all could walk now."

He cringed inside when he heard that. During that moment, it felt like he had been fueled by pure rage. He hated himself when that happened because it was extremely hard to stop himself from doing something destructive and possibly dangerous to everything, including himself. Luckily it was not very often though but... it felt like he became a totally different pony... “I hope Ice will understand...” He thought, anxiety and guilt starting to surface and annoy him from a deep, unreachable part of his body.

When he heard a fourth voice, which happened to be a Mare again, this time he was able to immediately identify it as Ice’s. He pricked up his ears and listened as carefully as he could so not to miss anything.

"I'll see what I can do. I'll admit it was rather cute, but you're right, it ended up being a bit inefficient, all things considered. Still, it's good to know the extent of which that he's willing to go to keep us safe,"

Again, he felt bad for eavesdropping but what he heard had done nothing to ease his concerns, if not only making them worse. Luckily he wasn't able to mull over that in his mind though as a very loud roar that he had not heard before, which he could feel cause the ground to shake, followed by a loud yelp by Ice. He was about to try opening his eye again to see what was going on but felt Electro jump and in doing so caused him to slide off his back and fall to the ground in a heap.

...Ow...” Was all his brain could muster at the moment as his body was now tingling all over, which although was rather uncomfortable, meant that feeling had been more or less restored in all of his body.

Luckily he felt what was most likely Electro pick him back up again.

As he heard a second roar, his curiosity got the better of him and with a lot of effort, managed to slowly open one eye to see what on earth was going on.

It appeared that the group had managed trave all the way to the bridge since he had passed out, and that he was indeed on Electrobolt’s back as he first assumed.

Because his head was tilted in his side resting against Electo’s back, he could only see off to the side where Ice was, gritting her teeth observably in a lot of pain from falling on her injured leg. Again, he felt a pang of guilt how that could've been avoided if he had acted differently.

Day was still unable to see whatever it was the the group was started at however as it was directly in front of them and at a angle out of his single eye’s vision. Slowly and carefully, he lifted up his head off Electro’s back which felt like trying to lift a heavy weight, and opened his other eye, looking directly ahead, and when he saw the creature, he almost wished he hadn't.

A large shadowy demon like figure stood in front of them. It was quite a disconcerting sight which only tightened the worry that he felt in his chest. He could also feel Electro shivering in fear.

"This... thing... is made of shadow.... conventional.... attacks won't work on it..." she hissed through bits of shooting pain from her leg.

He turned his head to look back at Ice when he heard her speak. Again, the pain that she clearly showed played on his guilt immensely. “If only... no, there’s no point thinking about that now. What’s done is done and there is a new problem to deal with.” He thought.

"So, um... Iron...?" he asked, a hint of fear in his voice. "What... What's the plan...?"

The fear in Electro was hidden but still very much noticeable to Day was still lying on his back and he could feel his body trembling beneath him. Although he had yet to fully recover, he knew he could not sit this battle out.

Almost immediately, Iron began to start to come up with a battle strategy which she relayed to the rest of the group. She had said exactly what he had been thinking. Him and Ice would play the most important roles in this battle, yet here they were both injured in some way.

This is going to be very interesting...”: he thought, as iron finished explain her plan and moved into position. “Well, I doubt there will be much I can do just lying here soo....”, he thought, before trying to slide off Electro’s back and onto his hooves. Unfortunately for him, his coordination had not fully returned yet, so instead he just fell on his back on the ground with a loud “thump”, with his hooves upright in the air.
“Ugh...” he groaned loudly, as he felt the same tingling sensation in his body as before. He lay there with his eyes were open, staring up at the treetops of the Everfree Forest above, and coulden't help twitching occasionally due to different parts of his body randomly seizing up.

The walk and the hours traveling towards the bridge helped Colt regain of a little magic power for, he was starting to feel right once again even when his arm had been bothering him with an increasing ache, until just as the group reached the ravine Colt noticed a weird feeling flowing from it, he was about to say something but suddenly it was not needed. Crawling out of the canyon a huge shadow like creature showed itself to the ponies, menacing and imposing the shadow look into the group sending a wave that shook the soul of the dragon.

The creature was big threat to the mission and most importantly to the ponies in it, two of them were most than vulnerable right now unable to evade its attacks, unfortunately the condition of the group was not the best and the dragon was worried for everypony the group including him. Colt took a deep breath realizing it with a sigh, his expression completely change from when he was chatting with Electro serious, focused, with his mind just thinking in one thing “they need to stay safe"

Colt you are coming with me! We are going on a frontline defense position. If this monster attacks, it´s possible that it has to materialise shortly. These attacks can be blocked! Don´t use magic until Day and Ice are ready!"

"What... What's the plan...?"

The dragon listened to the words and instructions from the Iron Mare, he released his wings from his hood shape he took a soft long breath, tensed his body just as he readied his mind for combat and while looking to the beast Colt talked to electro Keep them safe Ok?, leave the rest to us” he walked to Iron and stood at her side shielding the ponies behind them.  Iron’s plan was good but the dragon thought it had a terrible flaw and during this calm before the upcoming storm he had to share it with her “Day may not wake up, and even if he does we won’t know if he will be able to damage this thing” the voice from Colt was low almost like whispers he didn’t wanted to worry Bolt or Ice. Iron turned her head towards him and almost say something before the dragon cut her retaking the turn of talking  “Don’t forget why you all are here, you have a mission to complete Celes, you all have to save Equestria” the golden spark in his eyes was back, telling how his soul was burning and his magic ready to use.

"This... thing... is made of shadow.... conventional.... attacks won't work on it..."

Colt left Iron Wing side walking slowly to the shadow creature looking up into its eyes, feeling its existence inside his spirit, “This is going to be far from easy” he thought just seconds before the beast roared turning his shape into a dozen of barbwire like vines that were wiped towards the Dragon. Colt was able to doge just as he noticed the killing intent from the creature. Each one of the sharp strings left a crack on the ground, each one of the black vines clashed closer to the dragon that had to make a somersault to avoid the last of them. While rolling in the ground one of the paws of the dragon grabbed a rock big as an apple and just as he returned to his hind legs Colt made a swift and strong jump backwards out of the reach of the enemy again at the same time from his arm the rock was shot to the ethereal foe going straight through it “Just as Ice said” he whispered knowing that the ponies most likely saw the proof of Ice hypothesis.

“Iron won’t be able to hurt this one… Alex may be able to do something with his bolts but he cant do it right away, Ice and Daylight … we need time” The dragon’s mind was still analyzing the situation as the black shape took aim for him “That’s it, keep me as your priority, they are the ones sent by the sun, not me… just keep me as your prey” he thought while his magic began to gather in his body “Lets see if this hurt you…” Colt’s mind spelled while a crystal prism not bigger than his arm in shape of a sharped spear formed at the floor with a weird glow inside it.  Colt moved his hand towards the beast shooting the mineral blade in that direction the shadow didn’t even felt it while it pierced into its body.

Anypony could have thought that the attack was a useless waste of energy given the result of Colt’s previous attempt with the rock, but just when the crystal was in passing through the immaterial body of the shadow Colt closed his fist and fold his arm to his side giving the “triggering” the magic that glowed in the crystal blade to explode in a spark of light that for sure took the attention of the beast making it to walk towards the dragon giving its back to the ponies.

Alex flew above the group and he was left to his own musings.  He thought more about what exactly this magic is that is not only making the ponies in Ponyville fall into eternal sleep, but can also bring living trees to life.  "Something tells me that somepony must have opened up the seal or something.  I wonder if that same pony is the one that brought those living trees to life..."  Alex said to himself.  His mind wandered back to Ponyville and its still awake ponies.  He wondered how Twilight, Rainbow Dash, and Princess Celestia were handling things without them.  Unfortunately, Alex wasn't psychic.

Alex was brought out of his musings by a loud roar that shook the trees of the forest.  Alex zoomed down to the group to check on them more closely.  "What the hay is..."  Alex asked the group, looking around until his sentence was stopped looking at a large dark mass that was on the edge of the ravine.  "Whoa..."  Alex just said out loud.  He certainly wasn't expecting this thing and doesn't know what it is exactly.

Alex, you have to confuse this monster a bit! If possible get us some clouds onto the ground to block the line of sight! Use your speed to be a diversion! Electro, you are going to do everything Daylight and Ice need to cast their spells. If needed, help Ice to stand, you are our supporter now!

Alex arched an eyebrow at Iron Wing.  "I can only make it into fog."  Alex said to Iron Wing before boosting off through the clearing.  He looked around, but he couldn't see any immediate clouds in his area.  "Darn, I guess I'll have to improvise...  I hate it when I do that."  Alex said to himself before boosting down where the dark creature was.  "Hey Soots, over heeeereeeee!"  Alex tauntingly to the dark creature, which reacting by trying to spit venom at Alex.  Alex moved out of the way of the venom's trajectory as it made contact with a tree, causing it to melt.  Alex zigzagged around the area, keeping the creature's eyes on Alex.  "Anyday now, guys!"  Alex called out to them as he boosted off from tree to tree to keep moving.

Fire. That's how Ice's leg felt right now, and she wished that she could make it end. For the moment, it was the only thing that she was able to think about. She briefly heard Iron ask if she was okay, and as much as she wanted to say that she was, she shook her head. "It hurts... I can't... even move it now... without... immense pain..." she replied as Iron picked her back up and explained to everypony else what needed to be done. She added that herself and Daylight would be the only ones that would be able to affect the beast, and this concerned her. She was very much not in any condition to fight. The pain in her leg was too much, and she lacked any amount of concentration at all. A quick look at the bandage that was on the leg showed how much worse the injury had become whereas what was just a small red spot from where the thorn had pierced her, was now partially dripping from where it had been collecting before.

Iron gently set Ice back down, and she grimaced. Her leg didn't move much, but it didn't take much to set her on fire at the moment. She heard her tell everypony else not to use any magic until Ice and Day were ready, but Ice wasn't sure about this plan. Mainly because she, at the moment, didn't know if she could be ready. She heard her tell Electro to support both her and Daylight if they needed it. The only issue with this plan was Ice couldn't stand, and Daylight wasn't even awake yet. Ice shook her head to clear her thoughts. She didn't know how well she would perform, but she had to do something. Gritting through an immense amount of searing, stinging pain, Ice straightened her bad leg, and created an ice cast around it, thick enough to where it couldn't move, and she planted it on the ground. The ice would serve as dual purpose. It would serve to dull the pain while preventing her from moving it.

By the time that she stood up, however, she noticed that the creature had started to undergo a transformation of it's own. As it did, her eyes shrank, jaw dropped and her entire body started trembling at the sight. The creature that already had fangs dripping with a shadowy venom transformed it's massive claws into ropes of barbed wire and lashed out at him, missing thankfully as the beast left a small crevice in the ground. Ice gulped. That being said, the beast wasn't done transforming. No, not in the slightest. After the attack on Colt, and the rock passing through it which only confirmed her previous statement, the creature began to undergo a transformation unlike anything that she had ever seen, or had hoped to have seen. The creature grew, to a size that was about as large as the trees that they had fought earlier, and eight spines shot out of the back of the shadowy creature to resemble wing-like appendages, however each one of the spines were controlled separately, and each one had a tip that looked sharp enough to cut through a diamond. The very sight of the creature now was enough to send enough to completely freeze Ice in place.

The monster scanned the group trying to find what would be it's first victim. According to it's master, these ponies were interfering with his plans and needed to be disposed of immediately. It listened as the one covered in metal announce the plan. It smiled looking back at the two, apparently injured ponies. Yes... Killing the injured ones... that seemed like a great way to start things off. Break the will and the morals of the group. Just as he thought that though, he felt a surge of light energy come from within, causing a decent amount of pain. The Nightshade turned towards the dragon that launched the attack and let out an earth shattering, ear piercing, roaring shriek that made several trees in the background.

The creature then used the newly formed tentacles on his back to lash out at the dragon, weaving it's way through it's wing membrane as he wrapped around his bode, then let the tentacle rip out as he flung the dragon downwards towards the ground in front of the two injured ponies. After he had done so, he spoke in a booming voice that made the Royal Canterlot Voice sound like Fluttershy. "IT'S TIME TO END THIS SILLY GAME OF RESISTANCE," he stated as all of the tentacles on his back rose and angled themselves at the injured group. "DIE," he yelled once more letting loose a barrage of spear-like tentacles at the group intending to end this as quickly as possible.

Princess Luna had seen it all. Day and night throughout their journey, she'd been watching them, straining herself between the group of saviors, Canterlot, Ponyville, and the rest of Equestria. If any threat attacked Ponyville, Celestia would be alone, and if any threat attacked anywhere else in Equestria, Luna would have to tend to it. That still left the herd of heroes on their own, and for awhile that hadn't been a problem.

It pained her to see Ice Storm struggling with her insecurities, but she didn't dare leave Equestria unattended for something as trivial as bed wetting. She thanked the stars for the acceptance of Iron Wing and Daylight, despite the icy mare's shortcomings. Besides that, the journey had been rather uneventful so far, and the princess was grateful for that. But such peacefulness, in such a time as this... it just didn't sit right. Something was going to happen.

And then there they were, the monstrous trees. Still, they would have to hold their own. Even if their opponents were larger, there were an equal number of ponies to enemies, plus the dragon. They could do it. Princess Luna had faith in them. They had been chosen, just as the original Elements of Harmony had been. And they'd made it through the Everfree Forest that night, all the way to the Moon Palace, and taken down any foe that stood in their way. Yes, this troupe could do it as well.

Luna sighed with relief once the battle was over. As injuries had begun occurring, her faith in the group had faltered, but she hadn't given up on them yet. In the end, they'd been able to defeat the enormous opposers, by working together. They would be safe for now, and the princess relaxed. She was still worried for them, of course—after all, the journey was far from over. But hopefully that would be the last enemy they would see today.

And then it happened. Just when everypony had thought the worst was over, something even more terrible reared its head... if any part of the spectral energy could be called a head. She gulped. Princess Luna could feel the magical energy emanating from it. Why hadn't she sensed it before? Where had it come from? She gave a frustrated snort, she should have been able to anticipate something of this size—at least, a magical creature of this size.

There was no time to stop and think. It was evident that after the battle that had ensued just minutes before, the group was unprepared for this new challenge. Where once the princess had had faith in them to be able to take care of themselves, that feeling was gone, with good reason. Maybe, without this new threat, they could have refreshed and gained health and moral. But this was too soon, and everypony was unprepared.

The Everfree Forest was not far away, even for a regular pony traveling from Canterlot to Ponyville. So for the princess, with her massive wingspan and increased speed, it took but a few minutes. An achingly long few minutes, even as she dove from the tower to give herself momentum. She was watching the scene unfold, her heart racing and her wings beating so fast she felt they might tear away from her.

There was a flash of blue as the princess blasted through the creature, and it let out another pained roar. ”LEAVE. THEM. ALONE!!!” The bellowing voice rang out. Luna landed on the ground, hard, so much so that to those in the immediate area, it might have felt like a small earthquake. But the source of the disturbance was clear, right in front of all of them. Immediately, she engulfed them all in a large dome shaped shield, preventing any outside attacks. Dozens of tentacles slammed against the surface, seconds too late for the enemy.

She was concerned for the newly injured dragon, but... she couldn't help but go to Ice Storm first. ”Ice Storm!” The princess rushed to her friend, nuzzling her gently and quickly. ”I came as soon as I could! I'm sorry, I'm so sorry...” Her throat tightened as tears threatened to bubble to the surface, seeing her friend in so much pain. She should have never let them face the Treants alone.

Her thoughts were broken, as a mighty force pounded against the shield, shaking causing a wave to ripple across the surface. The ethereal being had grown two giant fists, and was currently raising them for another blow. The princess winced, her horn still glowing as she felt the mass of the blow. She glanced around. Everypony was pretty worse for wear—those that could stand were the ones that would have the least effect, and those who were hurt were the ones that were needed to at least have a chance against this monster.

Luna looked up, sizing up the opponent before them. Magical beings were difficult, but not impossible—but this one was strong. She braced herself for another hit, the force of this one knocking her to the ground. She quickly picked herself up, still concerned with Ice Storm's well-being—and that was her undoing.

A stray vine, one that had either been trapped in with the group, or that had somehow managed to slither under the shield, suddenly wrapped itself around the back left leg of the princess. It snapped back quickly, pulling her down before she had a chance to react, and nearly breaking her concentration on the shield spell. She turned, shooting beams of magic from her horn, trying desperately to hit the vine. But from her angle, and the fact that the creature would not hold still, every beam missed.

Luna was drug along the ground for several feet, before being lifted high into the air. The shield apparently let things out, but not back in. Thorns dug into her leg, but she had to focus on keeping the shield up, keeping the others safe. Meanwhile, she continued her barrage of laser-like magic attacks, in an unsuccessful attempt to either stun the shadow enough to let her go, or break its grip by severing the vine.

But it swung her back and forth carelessly, and being as she was more or less upside down, she was getting dizzy. The tentacle snaked further up her leg, and then onto her belly, tearing and scratching as it went. It lifted her right side up, holding her clearly before the group below. Still, she did not falter, doing her best to ignore the ever growing pain and keep everypony else safe.

Another vine snapped forward, sliding around her neck, as the being continued pounding on the shield. Finally she cried out, a mix of magical pain shooting down her horn, mixed with the numerous cuts along her body.

”AAAAA—cckkk—” Her scream was cut off as the grip on her throat was tightened. Luna turned her head upwards, eyes closed, heart pounding, shaking, sweating, still determined to keep the defense up as long as possible.

”GO! Get out of here! You have to get to the temple! Save everypony! I'll hold it off as long as I can!” Luna sent out a telepathic message, hoping that everypony—at least, everypony that was conscious—would hear. It was what she thought was her last hope of saving them—of saving Ice Storm.

She didn't know how much longer she could protect them. If they got a safe distance away, there were a number of high powered spells she could use for distraction, and perhaps even harm—but with everypony so near, it could likely injure them too—or worse. But there wasn't time to explain that.

The group could choose to fight, and save the princess. Or they could go on without her, leaving her fate in the claws of the shadowy monster. If they left, would she be alright? Would she survive? But if they stayed... their own lives would be in jeopardy, along with that of everypony in Ponyville. Save the princess, or abandon her and save Ponyville? Neither choice was easy.

Alex moved around of the dark creature's attacks, but all of a sudden, it stopped attacking him.  "What the hay?  Why did it stopped attacking me?  Did it give up on trying to catch me?"  Alex asked himself which  unfortunately wasn't true.  He heard the creature bellow out.  "Geez, he's loud enough to be a bullhorn."  Alex said to himself, hearing the deafening shout while protecting his ears with his hooves while in the air.

He saw the newly formed tentacles shot straight for the injured or not at maximum potential group, which consisted of Ice Storm, Daylight, and the dragon Colt.  "Oh no, it's going to hit them, but I can only be able to save one of them."  Alex said to himself.

”LEAVE. THEM. ALONE!!!” The bellowing voice rang out. Luna landed on the ground, hard, so much so that to those in the immediate area, it might have felt like a small earthquake. But the source of the disturbance was clear, right in front of all of them.

All of a sudden, Alex saw a flash of blue cross his field of vision and in front of the group below him was none other than Princess Luna.  "Holy cow, that was Luna?"  Alex asked himself amazed at how fast she dropped in to bring up an energy shield to protect her and the group.  Unfortunately, Alex wasn't within their proximity to be protected by the shield.  Perhaps not as it seemed that the dark creature was more focused on the shield and Princess Luna than him.

Even though Alex was outside of the shield, he could see through it clearly and the long appendage that abusing Princess Luna to weaken her and drop the shield to finish off his group.  She was fighting valiantly, but the creature was winning against her.  He then heard her tell them in their minds to leave her behind and head for the temple.  "Leave Princess Luna behind?  No way!"  Alex said to himself determined as he would never forgive himself for it.  He decided to come to the Princess's aid, but the problem was that he had no magic of his own.  Suddenly, as if answering his prayers, he heard a crackle of thunder and looked to see a small stray thunderhead.  "That's it!"  Alex thought to himself as he zoomed for the thunderhead and grabbed onto it to pull it near the battle.  He spent five seconds spinning around it to build up the power in the thunderhead with his own static electricity from his own fur.

After five seconds of speedy spinning, he was done.  He looked down to the creature that was pounding on the shield with its fists.  "Hey black spot!  Taste Lightening!"  Alex yelled down to the creature as he dragged the thunderhead on top of the creature, engulfing it in the cloud and confusing it for a moment.  Alex then turned and started bucking the thunderhead hard to shock the dark creature from within the thunderhead continuously until it either disappeared or let go of Princess Luna.  "Like that?  Have some more!"  Alex said to the creature furiously as he continued bucking the thunderhead.  He looked to see that the appendage lost its grip on Luna's throat.  "If you guys got a plan, now's the time!"  Alex yelled out to them as he saw that the thunderhead had lost all of its electricity.  He back up from the thunderhead and the black creature let out a loud ear-deafening roar with its giant maw showing the mangled teeth to Alex.  "Uh oh..."  Alex said to himself as he backed off from the creature as it now sent its vines to capture Alex.  Alex utilized his speed and agility to keep the vines behind him, but he wasn't sure of how long it would take before he was captured himself.

After having heard Iron's plan, Electrobolt began to worry. He had to try and wake Daylight up? He wasn't sure whether he'd be able to wake up so soon, after having knocked himself out from earlier. However, as he was thinking on how he could wake Day up, he felt the goldenrod stallion sliding off of his back. Worried that he might not have adjusted him carefully, Electrobolt tried to slide him back up. Unfortunately for him, Daylight slid off of his back and landed on the ground. Wincing slightly at the thought, he turned around to look at Daylight, only to see him awake now.

As he saw the stallion, he could see him beginning to twitch, before realizing that he should help him at least stand. Quickly getting to Daylight's side, he got under his side before helping him getting up on his hooves, standing on his immediate side to help keep him on his hooves while asking, "Daylight, are you alright?" As he started to look over to Ice, he caught a glimpse of Colt having been struck by the creature. *Oh gosh... This is worse than the trees... Ok... Stay strong...* When he looked over to Ice, though, he realized that Iron had wanted him to help Ice stand on her hooves too. *Dang it... How will I help Ice get to her hooves now...? I can't leave Daylight and let him collapse to the ground...* he thought, before noticing Ice making a cast made of ice and surrounding her injured leg with it, before getting herself back on her hooves.

*Well,* he thought, starting to redirect his gaze over to Daylight. *At least that solved... That... Pro...blem...* His gaze stopped on the creature, however, as he saw the beast suddenly growing tentacles. His pupils suddenly shrunk in fear as he felt practically helpless right now, holding Daylight up. If he were to move, he would leave Daylight behind, and if he tried to lift him on his back to try and evade the attack, he would most likely be too slow and not be able to get out of the way. Just then, the creature spoke out in a booming voice that just about caused his heart to stop, before shooting out the tentacles at the group. *Oh Celestia... Is this it...?* he thought, holding his ground and closing his eyes, waiting for his demise...

However, just at that moment, he heard another voice speak up, but he didn't open his eyes out of fear. After a few minutes, though, he slowly opened his eyes when he felt nothing hit him, only to see a shield set up around the group and... *P... Princess Luna...? What is she--- No... Don't question why she's here... She saved us, that... That's good enough for me...* With a sigh, he looked over to Daylight to see how he was holding up, before hearing a thumping sound on the barrier. Looking back to the barrier, he could see that it was starting to pound on the barrier, trying to break through. Gulping nervously, he looked over to Luna, as she was feeling the impact.

Just then, as he was watching Luna, he saw one of the tentacles wrapping around one of her legs. *What? But how did... When did... Why did...?* His mind kept trying to come up with a question, but as he saw Luna being dragged by the tentacle, before eventually being pulled out of the barrier. At this, he was completely shocked. What was the creature going to do to Luna??? Just then, he heard a voice speaking to him in his mind, as if by telepathy. Instantly recognizing it as Luna's voice, he listened to what she said to them.

”GO! Get out of here! You have to get to the temple! Save everypony! I'll hold it off as long as I can!”

His eyes wide open, he looked at the Princess in shock. She was willing to sacrifice herself so the others could save Ponyville??? *But... But she's Princess Luna!!! If something bad happens to her, then... What will happen then???* he thought frantically. Looking around, he wondered what everypony else would do, before catching Alex zooming down at the being, trying to continue fighting. *What do we do...? Do we try to flee, leaving Princess Luna behind...? Or do we risk taking longer to get to the temple and fight... Saving Princess Luna in the process?* As he was thinking this, he looked over to the rest of the group behind the barrier, as if wondering what they would do: stay or run?

Colt left Iron Wing side walking slowly to the shadow creature looking up into its eyes, feeling its existence inside his spirit, “This is going to be far from easy” he thought just seconds before the beast roared turning his shape into a dozen of barbwire like vines that were wiped towards the Dragon.

Why was Colt walking up to the creature? Was he nuts? "What are you doing? Get back here! What didn´t you get with -defense position-?" she hissed after him. But it was already too late and Colt attacked the creature with some magical attacks, just to be counterattacked. Buck it! Always these dragons and "their" understanding of orders. Iron wished to have some military ponies or guards right now who could follow some orders. Of course she made mistakes too, but it wasn´t tactical to start the fight since the beast could analyse their range and effects of their attacks first. If Iron made such a mistake under the eyes of her mother Minia, she would... No, don´t think about that! she thought a bit shivering, more fear about her mother than the actual creature.

Alex zigzagged around the area, keeping the creature's eyes on Alex. "Anyday now, guys!" Alex called out to them as he boosted off from tree to tree to keep moving.

Iron Wing then watched Alex flying fast maneuvers around the creature to distract it and this would be the best idea so far... but this was a magical creature. And since all magical users were down and unable to land a hit, it didn´t help for a winning strike. But Alex managed to distract the creature which helped for some analyses and got them more time to react. This creature seemed not to know any of the ponies abilities, so it easily could be distracted in order to keep itself alive. Not knowing an enemy could be the downfall for each side, so Iron did her best to get a knowledge of it´s abilities. A living shadow who had the ability to vanish it´s physical form into thin air, not allowing a hit, but on the same time it could strike with multiple vines to damage it´s opponent.

The creature changed tactics, building up a massive body and grew to a size as big as a tree. It´s wing-like appendages could bear the possibility to fly or perhaps used for close combat. The spines which seemed to move separately with it´s sharp endings perhaps could target each pony on it´s own. That was a tactical disadvantage for the group and Iron quickly thought about several option. Running away at this point was useless because it was possible that this thing could fly or at least run as fast as the ponies could. Iron had faced many monsters already, but this kind of creature was definitely new. It was difficult to think of a tactic with the abilities given to her group and she didn´t know how strong the creature was in this state of transformation.

It can speak! the guardian thought. That means that not all of his abilities are controlled by instinct, they are controlled by concentration!  That was indeed a very useful information because the reactions and the attacks would loose their power and accuracy if the ponies were able to distract it or to break it´s concentration. Iron Wing stood between the monster and the injured ponies as it started to launch an all out attack. She crossed her blades and her armored wings before her to withstand the impact. Even if it would cost her life, she would defend the injured group with everything she had. But the attack was interrupted by another pony she didn´t expected.

She turned around and looked at Princess Luna who came to aid them. What a relief! Iron was rendered speechless as the royal pony shook the ground with her landing and helping them. It was the first time for the guardian to ever see Luna. As Iron entered the night guards some years ago, there were much ponies loyal to Luna, but nopony knew the princess for real. She was trapped in the moon for 1000 years and no pony of the guardians had ever seen her. How could guardians stand for a princess who was never there? But somehow as she learned everything about the night guards she got to know why they were so loyal and what emotions they all shared. Then it happened, Nightmare Moon came from her prison back to the world and the bearers of the elements of harmony defeated her. The real Luna appeared again and took her place on her sisters side. Iron was a member of Lunas guards back then but the Princess didn´t show herself since she had much to learn about the new world before making her first appearence. Then Iron Wing was transfered to the frontlines of the north, joining the forces to protect the borders of the country. After almost 2 years she was transfered again to Ponyville. Until then she didn´t even see her commander and now she was there between them.

Ice Storm!” The princess rushed to her friend, nuzzling her gently and quickly. ”I came as soon as I could! I'm sorry, I'm so sorry...

That sentences from Luna created different feelings within the guardian. Luna wasn´t there because of her, she was there because of Ice Storm. Somehow Iron felt close to the princess, with a mix of her duty and the stories she heared about the princess. The rumors between some guardians that Luna just was like her sister Celestia who couldn´t even care about a mere little guard, seemed more and more realistic. But was that the truth? On the other side Iron was happy for Ice Storm and that Luna cared for her friend that much. She realised that both ponies, the unicorn also the alicorn had a hard time in their past. It was somehow fitting that they were friends.

The group could choose to fight, and save the princess. Or they could go on without her, leaving her fate in the claws of the shadowy monster. If they left, would she be alright?
Alex said to the creature furiously as he continued bucking the thunderhead. He looked to see that the appendage lost its grip on Luna's throat. "If you guys got a plan, now's the time!"

Then everything happened so fast, Luna got grabbed by a tentacle like vine and was lifted into the air! Iron could watch that the princess had much magical power but didn´t have much combat experience... or so it seemed. It was hard to tell because Iron just didn´t know Luna, but perhaps she held back to not injure the ponies within the group. Alex managed to loosen the grip of the vein on Luna with attacking the creature with a thunderhead and Iron Wing jumped in to catch the princess and held her with her wings. She used the time she got thanks to Alex´s attack to bring the princess next to Ice Storm, a save distance between them and the beast. "It´s best for you to make concentrated attacks and perhaps heal the other ponies to combine your magical power! Daylight uses light magic which should be useful somehow! Leave the close combat to us Commander!" she said to the princess. She didn´t want to give orders to the princess, but this was important to keep a cool head and not to waste resources. Wait... did i call Luna "commander"? Now the princess would know that Iron was a night guard, but there was not time to think about that now.

But Luna was injured badly enough and she brought her next to Ice, careful with laying her down to the ground. This was bad! The most powerful ally couldn´t do much at the moment! Buck it! Now she had to make a choice, since the shield nearly passed away. Wait! Iron Wing had analysed that the creature needed concentration for it´s attacks! If she was able to draw all it´s attention to her, the creature would be slow and occupied with Iron Wing! That was a good solution, even if it meant to be a sacrifice perhaps. Colt probably would think about a way to attack the creature directly but the veins would hinder him. So all she had to do was dealing with the veins!

The ironclad mare made her way to the beast as the only pony with superior armor around. She would be the defense for them as long as possible. Every body part except the head was armored and every hoove step was metallic, and the sound she made while walking could picture a small amount of what the real weight the armor had. Tripple layered wolframite, and now this would be used as a full force to counter the magical beasts attack. Iron knew that she couldn´t hurt the creature, but with her huge strength and her good armor she would be able last some minutes. Enough time for the princess to recover and perhaps prepare something. She stepped outside the shield the creature had attacked and looked at the creature which seemed busy to hunt down Alex. As Alex passed Iron Wing with just a small distance between them, she looked at the vines which now shot directly into her direction. For a moment she closed her eyes, concentrating, calming herself before the battle, just hearing some noises around her and her own heartbeat... Then she opened her eyes and crossed her blades and wings before her, stopping the vines on the place she was standing. The sharp things hit on her armor and blades, causing sparks to fly into every direction, a metallic screech was heard as the vines had their impact on Iron Wing and she was dragged some meters with the vines... before stopping. The earth below Irons hooves was crumbled and the sharp tentacle things had penetrated her armor a bit, causing to scratch her on her unprotected parts. She was a bit bleeding, but not too much.

Now she would have the attention of the creature for sure since she was able to nullify it´s attack. "You want to mess with a guardian elite? Show me what you´ve got!" she shouted at the creature, now starting her own attack, using her twin blades to start an assault, pushing the vines back. Loud noises filled the area as the blades clashed with the sharp edged of the tentacles. Of course it was a shadow creature, but it could feel pain everytime it got into a physical form. The swords of Iron were precise and sharp causing some minor cuts on the vines, also she stomped with all power she got on each vine she had the chance to and since she used her power combined with the heavy armors weight, it was distracting for sure. Iron could push back the creature some meters, but it didn´t take long for the creature to adapt to Iron Wings speed and match her attack patterns. It was a fierce fight and since the creature had eight of these vines and Iron just 2 blades and 4 armoured legs, it was just a matter of time unless she had to get injured since she couldn´t defend against everything. Her stength and armor helped a lot to hold her ground but she would need help from the others... and that fast! Also she noticed that she was near the abyss where the bridge was located. The monster managed to sneak up with a vine on her side and darted it into her armor stabing into her side. The sharp thing got stuck between some armor parts and it hurt badly, and just after a while Iron managed to get it out. The clever beast had managed to attack without the others of the group to notice, but the knightly mare wouldn´t give up that easily.

"Too slow" the dragon thought as he was unable to react to the newly grown vines from the beast falling entangled into its grasp. "Argh!!!" he scream as the grip put his movements into a halt and trying to crush the bones below scale and flesh the resistance of the dragon was put to the test. "Resist! don't crack" Colt thought as the grip felt like choking his whole being blurring his sight with a dark blur at the same time a "burnt" feeling began to torch his skin, the darkness shadows were consuming him making all worse on his left arm, the one scorched by the previous fight. The dragon felt his bones almost to break when the creature took impulse to throw him back to the ground. Colt noticed the aim of the creature towards the injured ponies and Electro and knew he would have to react, unfortunately the shadow movement was much stronger of what Colt had in mind and he was just able to open his wings a little to slow down the fall in an almost insignificant way but just enough to make the landing not deadly.

"Ooomph" was the sound that escaped from the the dragon's snout when his chest crashed to the ground, the impact that was slightly damped by a quick reaction. Immediately just as his long passed training prepared his reflexes Colt rolled back to his legs but the damage was done, unable to stay on them Colt went down to one knee on the floor sporting himself with his still uninjured arm, it was then when he felt it. The same numbness and pain he felt produced by the vices was still in his body..."Dark Poison"  he thought having memories of his experience about the dark arts, his limbs were numb and his attention out of the way it was the scream of the beast that put him back into his scenes.

"DIE,"

Spears were flying to him and the ponies behind him Colt tried to react with something at least use his body as shield to guard the ones behind him but it was too late, the only thing he could do was to tense his body and make sure no threat reach those behind him, then nothing make sense. The sharped points splattered around like crashing against the air, the confused eyes of the dragon delayed to watch a savior veil of azure translucent light  “A shield?” he though it was impossible he didn’t created it and Daylight was out, Ice? Ice…

”Ice Storm!”

A silhouette ran past the dragon for a moment he saw  the night and the stars in front of his eyes but this sky  had a voice and the voice was calming for Ice Storm’s name. It all drop down to Colt’s mind in seconds now around her hooves the youngest of the royal alicorns was holding the injured body of the Icy Mare “The Moon!” Colt whispered astonished by the sight of Princess Luna his eyes gazed towards the shield, “This is her magic… she saved us”  the dragon understood while his body paralyzed by the shock was unable to move due the rush in his mind was processing.

He never noticed the vine that entangled the Princess and for seconds that felt like hours the dragon saw the avatar of the night repelling the attack her pain her agony the way the darkness was ravaging her body consuming her life “A nightmare… this must be a nightmare” he raised his right hand and focused…nothing…”You are awake fool they are dying and won’t come back to die again” his mind resounded with words of unforgiving meaning, then once Luna brought him back to reality.

”GO! Get out of here! You have to get to the temple! Save everypony! I'll hold it off as long as I can!”

“Ponies are to create, dragon’s are to destroy” in reaction to the scene at his eyes Colt's mind gave him the dogma he have hated for ever since he knew his own kin but it didn’t matter how much he could hate it, it was true, now it was time to prove it."The moon cant perish  the hope cant die" His head was back in the game thinking and tracing the way to bring the monster down “That is a creature of demise they are our best chance” back to his senses Colt comprehended he was not the one able to defeat the beast Daylight was. With his hopes high the dragon ran to the side of Ice Storm, Electro, and  Daylight. He took the golden pony head, good Celestia he was awake.

“Celestia bless you Alex” The dragon thought while watching how the pegasus was trying with all his might to rescue Princess Luna he felt so much admiration for the ponies, they were resolved to survive with her Princess, to overcome all and the pegasi of the group proved that by rescuing Luna and facing the dark being. By now Iron Wing was dealing with what they could winning each one of those seconds that were vital for them.

Ice Storm was in shock, who could blame her and Daylight looked as confused as he could be. Colt helped Day to sit down and turned his attention to Ice “Ice, come on!” he screamed to the mare she did not react, Colt placed his paws on her shoulders and shook the mare, the pain in his left arm was now more than noticeable but it didn’t matter ”Ice come back we need you everything needs you.” He tried to connect to the mare with all his will using the core of his soul sending a signal for her to follow back to reality “You all, you five are Equestria, you are here because the sun sent you, if you fall here everything else will be lost please come back and listen to me”

There was no way he could know if Ice was listening to him. Colt was only able to hope and trust in her strength “Listen you have to give all your magic to Daylight, your magic your feelings everything channel all you have to him… Daylight” he said looking now to the male unicorn the eyes of Colt were glowing with the brim of his magic and soul “I know you are tired we but all depends on you The World its life this mare at your side it all rest in you my friend…Use your and Ice’s power blast this beast as you did with the treant… he wont move, you will have a clean shot I promise” Colt left the unicorn couple behind his face showed determination his eyes a flare of golden light he knew what to do.

Step by step the claws of the dragon increased speed, running towards the now distracted beast, Alex and Iron were doing an amazing job, he felt proud so proud of the blue pegasus. Now running as fast as he could the dragon locked on his target, his claws were glowing with a white light and a stream of diamond like dust left behind as he moved it was time this was his wish, his desire to give what he could for the world he loved so much.

The shadow beast noticed the dragon but it was just too late for him the vines were no fast enough Colt was now sliding on the ground and placed himself below the creature right between his two legs. With one knee placed on the ground and his wings at his sides each one of Colt magical infused claws pierced the darkness of the monster’s limbs and with his magic the dragon grabbed darkness itself sending his spell into the monster. The dark energy essence of the shadow began to frost becoming black crystals of ice from its insides, the dragon froze inch by inch the monster foot keeping him stuck to him and the ground, it was a success sadly this was just the start of the plan and a moment after Colt felt what he knew to be his punishment.

A slam into the dragons back resounded deep and harsh into the forest, the beast now screaming and desperate punched with his might the back of the dragon. Colt felt how his bones screamed with pain and his flesh broke below his scales, it was a feeling soon to be re-experienced as the shadow repeatedly smashed Colt’s body with hammer like arms. To make it worse the dark energy inside the shadow body was consuming Colt’s arms, feeling his flesh burned by darkness Colt was fighting with his will the corruption the dark being sent into the dragon’s body. “Hold Colt, you can’t break, it doesn't matter what he does you can’t break” his will was sustaining his magic, body and resistance, the next impacts on his frame broke the dragon’s wings sending a wave of pain that remembered him how alive he was. “They are the sun’s last hope…the moon came here to save them… they can’t fail they are the ones to live, they are the future, endure Colt, shield them, give them the chance” the dragon’s mind was fixed to this he abandoned all for the five ponies he was there just for them to survive.

The ice was now reaching the monster’s “knees” his screams reached and filled the forest with horror another impact made Colt to cough with blood painting the floor with crimson. “Don’t break Don’t break Don’t break Don’t break...” Was the sole idea in the dragon’s mind in then his voiced roared for the ponies he placed all his hopes you wont break me bastard you have already lost DAY, ICE PLEASE DO IT. BLAST HIM NOW”

Ice stared at the creature in disbelief as to what had just unfolded in front of her. This, already large monstrosity had gotten even larger, and more sadistic looking that it had originally been. At this point, she was lost on what should be done. The only thing she knew was they couldn't hurt it normally, which had already been confirmed. At this point though, the monster grabbed onto Colt after he had distracted him with some magic, and ripped through is wings as the monster threw him to the ground, causing him to tumble before collapsing onto his knees supporting himself with his one good arm.

She then heard the monster speak. It's voice was loud and booming, and it sent shivers all the way down her spine as the creature decided it was enough fooling around before launching all of the tentacles on its back towards them. She tried to think of what she could do, but nothing came directly to mind as she turned her head and awaited the inevitable impact.

Then, she heard another very loud, very familiar voice shouting through out the forest, and she could hear the sounds of the tentacles hitting a shield of some sort. She turned her head and opened her eyes and there in front of her, was Luna herself! As soon as she had the shield up she came over to her and nuzzled her, apologizing that she got hurt. Ice nuzzled back, as soon as she got ready to reply though, a rogue vine that went unnoticed by anypony wrapped around Luna's leg and pulled her back along the ground. "Luna!" she yelled as the creature lifted Luna up through her own shield and began to ravage and cut into her as it wrapped around her legs and dug in further ripping into her.

The shadowy monster then started to wrap one of the vines around Luna's neck and began to suffocate her. She then announced through everypony's minds to leave her behind, that she could handle this. Ice stood there in shock at what was happening, and she couldn't believe it. Luna was trapped and was being mauled by the monster. It took a moment before the princess's words sank into her mind. When they did, she shook her head to clear her thoughts.

At this point lightning began to fill the sky. At first she thought that it was one of the Everfree's unpredictable storms. She was much relieved though, when she looked up to see Alex using lightning on the creature. It didn't seem to be doing much, but it was at least diverting it's attention from Luna. Ice watched as Iron Wing took the opportunity to rescue the princess, another thing that she would be eternally grateful for in her new sister. She watched as she brought Luna next to her and laid her next to her side before telling her to let them handle this. The last word that she heard though, caught Ice a but by surprise. She hadn't expected for Iron to refer to Luna as commander. She thought about it for a sec until she remembered that Iron was part of the Night Watch.

Iron at this point had already gone back to fighting the beast, keeping the vines at bay, and before she could get a sense of what else needed to be done, she heard Colt telling her that she needed to get Daylight awake, and that she needed to do it now. That his magic would be the strongest magic that they could use against the monster, and that she would have to channel all of her emotion and magic into him. Ice looked back to Daylight, and then over to Luna, who was badly injured as well. This had to stop. Now.

She turned to Daylight, and the air temperature around her plummeted. The ground around her froze instantly as her magic began to glow around her. "Daylight... that rage you felt earlier today..." she began in a growl as she stepped next to where he was being supported by Electro. At this point, all of the color in her coat had faded to where she was almost a pure white as the magic consumed her. "I want you to take everything you've got," she said to him as a magical beam of her own fired towards him. "And everything I've got... and send this beast back to Tartus where he belongs!" she finished as the enormous amount of magical energy launched through the connection as she began fed him as much energy as she could. The beam lasted for about four and a half seconds before it cut off. If it had been ice, she could have kept that beam going almost indefinitely, but energy magic was outside of her focus area, and it took a lot more energy for her to use. She could only hope that she gave him enough energy to be of use. With what energy she had left, she moved over to where Luna was laying, and stayed as alert as she could, in case whatever Daylight did next wasn't enough.

Pain ripped through Luna's body. Sharp spines were slicing into her throat, the swirling vine cutting off her air supply in the process. She gasped for breath, struggling to free herself from the monster’s grip, but knowing her own strength would to no good. Her main focus was keeping conscious, and protecting the five ponies and the dragon below until they could get away. Not being able to see them at the moment did put a hindrance on that plan, so she would just have to keep up the spell as long as she could. After that, even Luna was uncertain of her fate. But the safety of Equestria was her number on priority, and those others that were present were the key to that.

Luna suddenly felt an increase of energy around her. She forced her eyes open a smidgeon, but all she could see were flashes of light around her. What in the world? But she didn't have time to figure out what it could be, as she felt her mind slipping away. Her oxygen had run out, but the shield remained in place until her last moment of consciousness, when it flickered and then faded, along with the princess' horn. The creature must have considered her dead, either from suffocation or her wounds or a combination of both, but the important thing was that he dropped her, in time for Iron Wing to catch the princess.

She started to come to as the force of the impact roused her. Luna suddenly gasped, realizing that there was air to be had, but her eyes remained closed as she caught her breath. It took a moment for her pain to register, but when it did the princess let out moan, opening her eyes to survey the current state of things. She was flying, that much she could tell, though not of her own wings. It was only when she was slid onto the ground that Luna could look up at her rescuer. Armor clad and wings spread, with a high chest and muscled legs, there was no mistaking—one of the guard.

Luna sat up slowly, biting her tongue to keep from crying out. She nodded boldly back at Iron Wing—not because she was necessarily taking orders from the mare, but because she herself did not have a better idea at the moment. She would go along with Iron Wing's plan, but only because it was a the only plan they had, not because she was taking orders.

She did her best to watch the battle unfolding before her. The dragon's orders to Ice Storm resonated in her head, but it took several moments for the meaning to actually register. She glanced around—the group was in bad shape, and the two healthiest members were working to keep the monster at bay. They were valiant fighters, but the two of them only had so much strength. And whatever strength or magic they had, the creature had it ten-fold.

It was time for her to act.

Luna struggled to her feet, her body shaking. She'd lost a decent amount of blood, and it was still pouring out of her from her neck and the lower half of her body. But she had to do something. Luna stepped back a few paces, spreading her hooves and planting them firmly on the ground. Her horn glowed, her eyes closed, and her head lowered. It took a mere few moments for for her eyes to shoot open again, glowing a solid light blue as magic coursed through her. In the next instant, a spectral being floated from her body. The basic appearance was that of the princess, except her body was glowing and sparkling with magical energy. Her physical body was perfectly still, channeling the necessary spell.

The magic Luna sped forward, and she began to make circles around the shadow being. A glittering trail followed her, wrapping around the creature with every turn. The light magic squeezed him, bit by little bit, as Luna made her way from its legs to the torso to the head. The creature began to crack, bit of light starting to show through as her magic seeped into him. But that still might not be enough. She was powerful on her own, yes, but this monster had a strength unlike any being she'd fought in many thousands of years. Luna poured all her being into the shadowy form, but it was still fighting back, and she feared that if she lost her hold on it, none of them might make it out of here.

DAY, ICE PLEASE DO IT. BLAST HIM NOW”

Though Luna was too absorbed in her task to hear the call, according to what Colt and Iron Wing, reinforcements would be arriving—or failing to arrive—any moment. Luna just knew that she had to hold on as long as she could.

Daylight watched as what little rays of the setting sun were able to shine through the dense treetops from above. He hadn't realised what time it was and how late it had gotten in the day. They would need to hurry to find shelter before the winds soon started to pick up again. He found it rather peaceful just lying there as all other noise seemed to be drowned out. It was nice to take a moment to rest and just simply take in the beauty of the forest.

It wasn't until he felt something push against the side of his body that snapped him out of it. He turned his head to see that it was Electro trying to help him up, which made him realize it was time to join reality once again, even if he didn't really want to. With the assistance of Electro, he managed to get back up on his hooves, but still felt rather shaky and unbalanced. Luckily Electro was there to support him from falling over again though.

"Daylight, are you alright?"

“Heh, I guess so as I am awake now aren't I? Though I admit I’ve been a lot better.” he replied with a slight grin. His head was still a bit fuzzy but the noise of the battle going on around them was quickly becoming clear. He did a quick scan of his surroundings to catch up on where everything was at currently.

Alex seemed to be providing a distraction for the creature while Colt was on the offensive despite Iron’s orders to stay on the defense. He looked over to Ice who was also standing on her own power as Iron was busy providing defense, thanks to the Ice cast she had formed around her injured leg. He was about to say something to her when he noticed a sudden shift in demeanor, one to that of immense fear. He followed her line of sight to discover that she was looking at the creature, which had began to transform into a vastly scarier sight. He couldn't blame her reaction or Electro’s as he felt just like the two of them looked, although he was unable to show it himself.

“Now what... I don’t have the energy to attack yet due to still being too weak from the last battle... god damn my arrogance...” He thought he helplessly as he watched the tendrils shoot towards them. Day closed his eyes and braced for impact but... the pain never came.

Instead, there was a loud roar, followed by what felt like a small earthquake that happened right in front of them from the intensity that the ground shook. His eyes immediately shot open to see none other than Princess Luna herself stand before them all, and very quickly erect a shield around to the group which protected them tendrils which harmlessly bounced off the exterior of the shield.

He had no idea why on earth Luna would have showed to aid them, although he wasn't complaining seeing as they could very well use the assistance. What she did next however surprised him greatly. Luna immediately ran directly to Ice Storm to check on her first and from the way they interacted, Day could very well tell that they were close to each other.

He knew barely knew anything about the Princess, herself, other than what he had heard that was since she had been reformed, nopony hardly saw much of her despite rumours that she was always busy doing somewhere, but nopony seemed to know exactly where. Most sightings of her were only brief ones, but she had always been alone, which led Day to think the other rumor about Luna struggling to be accepted by other ponies to also be true. Especially how no pony that he had met seemed to know anything different about the Princess... until now.

Unfortunately he, along with the rest of them failed to notice one stray vine that how somehow made it’s way into the shield and had sneakily wrapped itself around one of the Princess's back leg, and started to drag her along the ground, out of the shield until she was dangling upside in the air despite her own constant attempts to sever the vine with her magic. Again, all he could do was helplessly watch as the creature careless swang her back and forth in front of them all, as if to mock them. Despite all this happening Luna seemed to be able to somehow keep up a very resistive demeanor which he thought was very impressive considering she was still somehow managing to keep the shield up with the beast still pounding away at it. It wasn't until second vine made it’s way around her neck causing her to scream out in pain as it tightened around her throat did she react. Even with her eyes closed, as she tilted her head up to the group the pain that she was currently in was very much apprenant to the point that is was heartbreaking. Here was Princess Luna, being mauled to death by some unspeakable evil and being able to nothing about it. he was unsure if the rumours were true and that we was less powerful than her sister but as a Alicon he was sure that she had more power than him and Ice combined.

Luna’s final communication to them all was a telepathic message telling them to just simply leave her there and save themselves. Although that did seem like a very viable option, he knew that nopony else, him included would choose that though. Still unable do anything himself though, it was up to somepony else to rescue her.

Day looked up to see that Alex was the first one to take action by doing what Pegasus's, especially one’s on the weather patrol do best. He had managed to acquire a thunderhead, and was using it to shoot lightning bolts down at the monster. Wherever it was from the bolts or something else, Day couldn't tell but the monster had loosened its grip around Luna’s neck and body, letting her go to luckily be caught by Iron who had rushed forward to catch her.

As the shield was no longer still up, Iron was able to carry Luna back over to where the rest of them were standing and lay Luna down next to Ice before rushing off back into the battle.

“At least now Luna is safe but, the monster was still now worse for wear and still needed to be dealt with...” he thought.

Daylight uses light magic which should be useful somehow!

Daylight winced slightly as well as frown as he overhead Iron place so much importance on solely him. Even though he magic would most likely be the most effective against this monster he was in no shape do a repeat performance of earlier. His morale was low, still felt rather tired, and doubted his abilities immensely.

At that moment though Colt came over to talk to Ice and him. His suggestion to her giving him what power she had left sounded entirely viable but, he didn't want her to suffer and make herself vulnerable because of his own mistakes. However, they didn't really have any other option though...

… Daylight” he said looking now to the male unicorn the eyes of Colt were glowing with the brim of his magic and soul “I know you are tired we but all depends on you The World its life this mare at your side it all rest in you my friend…Use your and Ice’s power blast this beast as you did with the treant… he wont move, you will have a clean shot I promise” Colt left the unicorn couple behind his face showed determination his eyes a flare of golden light he knew what to do.

As he listened to the words that Colt spoke he very quickly became distracted and transfixed by the dragon’s yellowley glowing eyes which seemed to speak volumes on it’s own. As he started it felt as if he could see into the dragon’s very essence of his magic, and into his very soul. When Colt had finished speaking, although he had missed pretty much everything that he had said to him Day still knew however what needed to be done and nodded with a determined expression before Colt went back to join the battle along with Iron and Alex.

Day need not say anything to Ice as when he turned to look at her she had already begun to prepare a spell as once again the area around her changed to reflect that. He watched, almost in fear of what would happen as her coat faded from an icy blue to almost a pure white as she readied the spell. He had never cast let alone been on the receiving end of a channeling spell so he had no idea what to expect. Clearly she was angry, and he wondered if that would have any effect on it all.

As the beam hit him, he felt his energy returning but, he also felt something else... something that he knew did not belong to him...

He began to feel cold inside... but in a good way as it was different and unlike the feeling of a change in temperature. The coldness felt... magical, icey almost, he assumed that this must be the source of Ice’s magic. There was also something else that he could feel though... and this

time it had nothing to do with magic. Rage... but again, he knew it was not his own.

The four and a half seconds the beam lasted for much longer as if felt like to him that Ice was sharing with him more then just simply her magic, but a part of her as well. When it ended, day stood in disbelief for a second trying to process all these strange feelings that were very alien to him. He looked over to Ice who had now moved over to where Luna was and although he still didn't have the knowledge of the extent of their relationship he knew the rage that he now felt was from how much Ice cared about Luna. There were a bunch of other feelings flying around too, most of which made sense to him however as he did not posses the knowledge that Ice did to pair with them. Pain, sorrow, regret, emptiness were the weakest and he guessed all had to do with her past but there was also happiness, joy, acceptance, relief, and even love, which was most likely from recent events as they were much stronger.

DAY, ICE PLEASE DO IT. BLAST HIM NOW”

A scream from Colt distracted him from his contemplation and made him realize the urgency of the situation. Colt had done as he said he was going to do and made sure the monster wouldn't move, but at a price. Although it was very effective, It was clear he was suffering greatly from holding it from the inside. Luna also seemed to being doing something, although he wasn't entirely sure what as he had never witnessed magic such as her before.

Without a second thought Day immediately began to charge up a spell just like previously however, it was slightly different this time. He could feel the temperature drop slightly around him as well as a small area on the ground around his hooves freeze over. His horn too as it began to glow, looked a little green instead of gold. He knew he didn't have much time to charge the spell and he didn't want to overexert himself again either. He needed a target though... a weak spot... so his spell could be most effective...

As his horn continued to glow a brighter and brighter green, It was then that he realised what Luna’s spell was doing, the ghost image of herself that he been circling the monster seemed to be letting off magic of it’s own which wrapped itself around monsters body, squeezing it which caused several cracks to appear with a bit of light shining out of it. This would be his target. He quickly searched for the biggest opening he could find, and without hesitating any longer released the spell aimed at that.

This time, the beam was more contracted as it was aimed at a specific area but, it’s colour was also different too. Instead of being pure white like last time, there was a distinct light blue tinge to it.

Day could feel the force of the spell push him back as he released it, as well as all the coldness and feeling that didn't belong to him leave his body too. He took a handful wobbly steps backwards, feeling rather dizzz before losing his balance and collapsing on his flank. His head was throbbing again and his vision slightly blurred. Everything also seemed to have a blueish tint to it for some reason... which only served to make his head hurt more.
He closed his eyes and held his head up with one of his hooves. “I think... I should lie down for a bit...” he said exhaustively and threw himself backwards so that he was lying on his back with his hooves spread out. Day just focused on his breathing and tried his best to stay conscious, while still keeping an ear out for anything going on around him.

(OOC: NOTE: This is a pre-planned event)

Everything was starting to look hopeless. In the very bones of her body, Ice felt as if something was going to happen and that they weren't going to make it though this. She watched as Luna pushed herself up, blood pouring from her body. She was.... very badly hurt. "Luna be careful!" Ice warned gently not wanting her mentor to get even more hurt than she already was. She watched though, as Luna took on a spectral form to contain the beast.

At this point, Colt was almost being crushed. The creature pounded into his back as he tried to hold it off and keep it's attention. He was doing a good job, as well as Iron Wing also continued to fight the monster back. However, she wasn't prepared for what happened next. one of the tendrils, stabbed Iron, and went through her armor. "Iron!" Ice screamed as she tried to make her way towards her newfound sister.

No sooner did she get the first step in though, the blast from Daylight went off, and went clean through the monster, the light spreading through it's very being as it staggered back towards the edge of the cliff. It grasped at anything that it could grab ahold of to stable itself, however, being in able to do so, decided to take a victim with him. The decision was easy enough to take the mare he had already stabbed, pulling the tendril out of her body he wrapped it around her. "Iron Wing!" Ice yelled as the beast began dragging her across the ground leaving a long, thick, trail of blood behind her. Ice tried to get to her, but her injured leg prevented her from being able to catch up with her as both the monster and Iron Wing fell into the ravine. "IRON WING!" she shouted before stumbling, hearing her sister's scream fade until it was no longer audible.

When Ice finally got to the ravine, the only thing she could see was a dense thick fog that started only a few feet below the drop. Her heart sank, "Iron.... Wing..." she said aloud... barely audible, tears flooding her eyes. "IRON WIIIIIIING!!!" she screamed loudly collapsing on the edge of the cliff completely breaking down... "IRON WII...IIIIII....IIING!!!!" she screamed again, wailing in emotional agony.
