Encounters with irritating bronies?

That part of the bronydom, meaning the people who are extremely rabid, spouting "love and tolerate" everywhere and try to ponify everything.

When and where have you encountered those types of bronies?

Xbox Live. Oh my goodness, do I run into these kind of bronies. It's quite annoying; always getting messages saying "BROWNIEZ YUNITE /) /) /) /) /) BROHOOF /) /) /) /) /)"

Also, it's not very fair to label them as "bad". It's kind of a personality trait, and saying one kind of personality is better than another is really just an opinion.

This happens!? When? Where? I have been trying to find others (excluding current friends) but it's like looking for a black sheep at night ...in a cave. I sort of envy you in that sense.... back to the topic, every group has the scale of commitment, ranging from member who isn't so involved to extremist. they view themselves as good people and from their point of view, they are. it is not that anyone is a "good" person or a "bad" person, all that matters is which side of the "fence" you are standing on. As for where I would have seen these people viewed as bad that would be in video game forums. Edited by XrosOver

It's pretty rare, but every now and then, I would run into one on Black Ops. I had Celestia as my little emblem thingy. Though, I'm kind of banned from that game, now... so I don't know if there's any still playing it.

It's just whenever I DID run into one... They were so crazy that it made it seem like 8429 annoying little kids.

For me, the bad part of the fandom are those white knights, who bash on cloppers/shippers and/or people who like grimdark stuff.

It's even worse when they claim that those people aren't real MLP fans.

It's truly amusing to see those kind of 'bronies'.

any point were a Brony tries to make themselve look superior but making other inferior.

i mean there the White Knights that DeiStar has pointed out and there are the once who use the word true brony and slam anyone with an opinion that is different to there and when ever the bad part of the fandom that alway go to blaming the newer bronies for all wrongdoings, yeah i encounter these guys all the time sadly.

If you go to popular MLP youtube videos like This Day Aria and the Rainbow Dash You're Gonna Go Far Kid video the comments are just massive blobs of flames, trolling and butthurt bronies flipping out, and others being self righteous rather than just ignoring the trolls. It's kind of annoying.

Other than that i'va found some NSFW artwork by accident when looking for wallpapers, and it's ok if people do that I guess, it's their life and all, but I really wish that it could be blocked by safesearch. What if some kid saw that? Encounters with that sort of stuff is part of what turns people off of the community

I'm always see people rant about the bronies who want to rub the show all over people's faces. I mean come on, don't beg someone to watch MLP, let them decide.

Man, I've apparently been hanging out with the wrong people.

Well speaking of which, I saw a guy with a Octavia emblem and he was BEAST. And the best part, he wasn't an annoying kid at all. But most of the time, it seems like you'll win the lottery more often than finding a brony on xbox live.

You really don't understand, do you?

Cloppers are fine, and they're part of the fandom just as much as you.

If you think cloppers are the "bad" part of the fandom, then please read my post above.

No. I don't. Please, help me understand how the cartoon equivalent of a bestiality fantasy is in any way socially acceptable, or a favorable reflection on the fandom as a whole, because that post you made earlier in the thread boils down to, "Nothing wrong with cloppin' cause I say so, anyone who doesn't like them is bad also solely because I say so."

Kinda reminds me of people that like lolicon, tbh.

It's called 'It's our life, and we do whatever we please with it'

Oh, boo hoo, people draw porn of my ponies. They're sick people. Newflash: There's porn of anything popular, like it or not.

OMG I HAET CLOPPERS, IT'S NOT SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE TO CLOP TO PONIES, BUT IT IS SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE TO WATCH A SHOW FOR LITTLE GIRLS.

Honestly, I've met cloppers that are way nicer than most of the rabid, anti-clopper bronies.

Live and let die, dude. Stop being a white knight.

You're comparing clopping to the act of simply watching the show? Really?

Dude, all the hate from the show stems from a lack of understanding and misconceptions about the show while having never actually watched it. Because they've never seen the show, they don't know about the elements of humor, artistry, etc. present in the show. So if we're to compare that to clopping, then what am I not understanding about jerkin' it to horses? What are the positive elements about clopping that I'm apparently just not seeing?

(Sigh) You misunderstand what DeiStar is saying. People around are saying that the cloppers are part of the "bad" side of the fandom, which honestly isn't correct at all. It would be "bad" if all of them were douchebags, absolute perverts, and have no better idea than showing the R34 art right in people's faces, which we know isn't correct. I believe that would the "fetish" of some people, and that's about it.

You CAN'T blame the artists for drawing that. Simply put. Are they bad because they draw that? Or does that automatically make them cloppers? NO! It's ART! Rather different than people is probably used, but it's still ART!

Nobody is saying that the cloppers are a favorable representation of the fandom (which of any of the same type of ANY other fandom is?). But it would be bad shunning them just because of what they do, ESPECIALLY on a fandom that takes pride in respecting and tolerating, ya know?

Your logic is the same that goes behind homophobes and other bigots. Homophobes think homosexuality is in no way socially acceptable, and to be honest, you don't look like you're much better than them.

Well damn, I show it but not like that. I simply have my clan tag set as "Pon3".

Once, about a month or two ago, I was linked to a clopfic, and I didn't even know until it was too late. Oh...... I was scarred. But I think that's about it, and anyway, if you become a brony you're bound to run into a clopfic (unintentionally or intentionally) at LEAST once.

How is this...bad? You need to love and tolerate my friend, love and tolerate. There are some of us who are more "exuberant" towards the fandom than others. We shouldn't judge them or treat them differently than those of us whom are closet bronies.

Homosexuality is naturally occurring, though. Are you really saying that sexual attraction to cartoon horses is also naturally-occuring?

If it isn't, how would people have it? I for one couldnt be attracted to ponies no matter how much I tried, same with you, or if you really tried you could be attracted to ponies.

I don't know about you but I couldn't be attracted to ponies no matter how hard I tried. It's a sexual preference and it's as wired into you as being gay or straight.

Cloppers, I don't give a darn about them. If anybody clops, keep it to your darn self. Same think with just watching a TV show. You like it? Cool. Your friend likes it? Cool. That other guy hates it? Still cool. It's when the two sides bash on each other because their opinions are different. Now, let's say the first brony someone encounters is a clopper. That person will most likely think that all of them are. Why? Because of stereotyping. It's human nature. I don't know about a single person in the world who hasn't followed at least ONE stereotype about anything. Anyways, that one guy will think the next brony he meets will clop, but they won't. Instead, they'll have another flaw that feeds the stereotype flame, such as being overweight. Now here's the next thing. Some people assume the worst of something if they don't know about it. So what they'll assume is that this brony is overweight because he eats chocolate and ice-crean all day while clopping to ponies, while in reality he's just a guy that watches a TV show. By now, Little Freddy thinks that bronies are nasty, idiotic people. Now, here's the worst part. Here's the third brony. He doesn't clop or is overweight or anything, but he's joking around with his friends about it. They joke about how they stay up late at night, write dirty fanfics about having sex with cartoon ponies, and all that other stuff. Little Freddy will take this seriously, because he isn't in the actual conversation. So now, he goes to tell his friends Bobby and Jerry. Bobby and Jerry know nothing about this Pony Phenomena. Thinking he have perfect knowledge of these "mysterious creatures," Freddy explains how all these men are homosexual, obese, mentally retarded freaks. Surprised, Bobby and Jerry will tell Sherry and Max. Then they will tell Joe and Sodapop until finally, Sodapop comes across a closet brony. This brony, whose name is Jay, will try to explain that bronies are not at all what he said. This will then escalate into an argument, throwing fiery balls of hate and swears. Now we're here, talking about who'se right and wrong.

TL;DR: Stereotypes go through people. Stereotypes get to Brony. Brony get mad. I now have no idea what I was talking about.

Cloppers don't hurt anyone.

Except conceptions of the fanbase as a whole from non-bronies. First impressions are everything. It's not cool meeting some guy who thinks I jerk it to technicolor horses just because I'm wearing a pony shirt and he met the shameless, open cloppers first. Yes, those people shoulder a portion of the blame for their blanket generalizations, but extreme openness for that kind of behavior has kind of a ripple effect, makes it seem more widespread than it actually is.

Anyway, my friend explained an article that stated that it generally boils down to koinaphilia and an attraction to symmetry, and that cloppers end up falling in love with the characters before going, "You know what? I'd hit that," mid-episode. The problem I have with the koinaphilia argument is that it's defined as a preference for a mate to not have any deviant features, and well, their whole "mate" is a horse. And the latter "love" argument sounds like massive over-attraction bordering obsession, something oft-diagnosed in modern psychology.

Is it really the cloppers fault if the fandom gets faulted and judged as a band of crazy people that have the hots for cartoon ponies? Nope. People need to understand that even if that was the first impression, they can't just judge the whole thing on that! Especially with how big this fandom is, and how big this fandom grows!

Turth is, yes, with our fandom, this kind of things, like cloppers, get more revealed because out of all the things that they can be attracted to, they choose cartoon ponies in a show for little girls. Not a first good impression, I agree, but honestly, what do you want to do? ALl we CAN ask for, is that the cloppers don't go around saying that they are. That's all. Are you going to ask the artists NOT to post that kind of art? Besides, people overreact to EVERYTHING sometimes. And most of the times, due to our fandom, we get spread as the kind of people they KNOW others will feel utterly disgusted. So it really isn't anyone's fault here. You should probably ask the rest of the fandoms what they believe and see what they answer. You'll find there's not much of a difference. We've been defying the stereotypes ever since this whole fandom grew, and there are a LOT of people who are willing to bring it down.

And WE need to keep together. Do you have to like cloppers? Nope. Should you respect that? Yeah, it'd be nice if you did. For the sake of everyone. If you encounter one, tell him/her politely to not go around spreading it or making it so obvious and plain as day and be on your merry way.

Cloppers don't hurt anyone.

Wrong. Dead wrong.

Honestly, I've met cloppers that are way nicer than most of the rabid, anti-clopper bronies.

Live and let die, dude. Stop being a white knight.

That sounds wonderful in theory, but unfortunately it doesn't work out as cleanly as that. It was that kind of thinking that made my life a living hell for a few months a while back.

I used to be of the same opinion, even though I disagreed with the idea. I just sort of "ignored" that entire section of the fandom (and I still do for the most part).

However, in my previous college math class, I met a guy who's only interactions with the MLP fandom were with cloppers - and extreme ones at that. Thus, when the subject of MLP came up, he already had made up his mind that all pony fans were mentally unstable pedophiles with an uncontrollable urge for...that kind of stuff.

Now for us here, it's common knowledge that it's a relatively small group that actually behaves like that, but to him - a person who never had any interactions with Bronies outside of cloppers - he couldn't see it any other way.

The worst part? The only other Brony in the room was an avid clopper, which suddenly "proved" that I must have been one as well. I was suddenly viewed by some of the class as a pedophile who wouldn't admit it. The subject came up every class that I went to, and it was all directed at me (since the other guy just shook his head and agreed with whatever they said). It made for long classes - and I was subject to jokes and derogatory phrases that I will never repeat here or anywhere else.

I loathed going to that class. I hated waking up in the morning. I hated the knowledge that the last few hours of my day (an evening class) would be spent with me being the target of as many sexual and perverted jokes as anyone could think of.

And I guarantee you that there are others out there like me in this kind of a situation.

Simply put: That part of the fandom gives the rest of us, who want nothing to do with clopping, a bad name.

Now let me say this as a disclaimer: I don't hate cloppers, and I don't go out and try and "reform" them, etc. As you said, some of them are great people. The other Brony (the clopper) in my math class was a great guy. I liked talking with him, I sat next to him every class, we talked about gaming, etc. together, he just voiced his clopping at the worst possible time (and I don't blame him for what happened). Even if you bring the subject up in a conversation, I won't think of you differently, I'll still Brohoof you, and I probably won't even comment on it.

If you want to venture into that kind of stuff, I won't stop you. All I ask is that you don't go out and share it/brag about it.
