Combat Twi

Figured since I was on the topic of drawing an armed RD that I mightaswell do an armed Twi as well, then I realized: Unicorns don't need no stinkin' guns! They have magicxcxcxcx! In case it ain't apparent, those 'armour plates' she's wearing are part of a linked system thats supposed to deflect and absorb energy from attacks and channel it into that magic amplifier that's around her forehead. The protective goggle is there to shield the eyes of the user from the heat generated by the amplified magical energy.

 

How does it work? I have no idea!

Really cool drawing.

 

IMO the best part is the armor. Very creative design, and I really like the style with the sci-fi looking colored lights on the gray armor. Also, the glow effect from said lights is subtle yet awesome.

 

If I could offer one minor criticism, I personally am not a huge fan of the way you drew the magic shooting out of Twi's horn. If I drew it (if i could draw >.<) I would have made it more faded, more transparent, and less 'clear-cut' as to where one color started and another ended.

 

However that's just a minor detail. You replicated Twilight almost perfectly and the armor is, as I said, awesome. Good job!

hee thanks! ^.^ yeah i'm aware of the plainness of the magic effect, sadly it tends to become a victim of being the last thing i draw in, so many times (i've drawn an earlier twilight also with some lameass two-tone magic effect) i've done some ridiculous 2 min scribble job in order to publish it quickly. but that said, yes i too would want to be able to make a nicer magic energy effect as well. unfortunately i have close to no experience drawing SFX so it looks like i'll have to set aside a day to figure out how to do it

 

btw the magic does have 60% transparency but it's on a white background so that's kinda lame i know haha
