Silver Arrow - New Moon's Eclipse

It is official, I have finally begun composing pony-related music. This is my first creation inspired by the My Little Pony universe.

 

It was inspired by Nightmare Moon/Luna and her transformation. I envisioned this song playing during Luna's change into Nightmare Moon and Celestia banishing her. I will likely be making all my pony related songs piano-focused, as this is a live recording of me playing the song.

 

I am very happy with how it turned out, but some of the mistakes are a little upsetting. I will likely go back later to re-record it and fix those mistakes another time, but until then, this is the song. Enjoy!

 

 

Now I am actually looking for someone willing to draw cover art for my songs/creations, as I suck at drawing ponies. Thus I would love to find someone willing to do it for me. I wouldn't be asking much, just something simple based on the song. If you're interested please contact me!

Awesome! It's not often you hear a piano pony inspired song, and this is truly great. I like 2:22-4:01 the best as it just sounds awesome.

That sounds like it is being played by a piano. Is this you doing this? It sounds amazing..I couldn't even play two even notes on the piano...and I'm not kidding. I compliment this beautiful music.

Yes, I did play this. It took a lot of practice but I finally finished. Thank you very much, your comment really encourages me to make more music like this.

Wow, I love the composition, the harmony is especially good. The way it is connected to the melody is brilliant. I love composing pieces and have also recently started to try producing pony-inspired music I have a couple of questions. 1) What did you use to record this? and 2) Is there any sheet music?

Anyway, I really really enjoyed this. There is one thing that could be done which I would love to see, and that would be a bigger 'hook' within the melody so to speak, for example Fur Elise (By Beethoven) has the notorious hook at the beggining that goes from E to Eb and then from there, it's what people think of when they get to the piece, if you can incorperate that into parts of your piece, it would be more memorable and people would listen to it more. Otherwise I absolutely love it!

 

Better than I could do at least I'm new to composing - I know a lot of the theory but just lack the experience.

 

I'll tell you something interesting. I know almost NOTHING about theory. I can't read piano sheet music to save my life. Everything you see was done by ear. In fact, the song originated from an improv session that I recorded. I realized "hey this is cool!" and did some editing and then finally recorded it.

Actually this isn't a live-live piano. What I did was use a KeyRig 49 exactly like this one:

This is a Midi keyboard. I plugged it into my computer, and used a very high quality VST (Virtual instrument.), then I just recorded the sound it made with Edison from FL Studio. I used an input that reads the sound coming from the computer automatically. It's a bit of a complex process, but 1. It's easier to play it live than write out all 7 minutes. 2. It's better quality than recording with a microphone on my actual piano. 3. I already knew the song anyways~!

All in all it was a fair amount of work, but fairly easy once you get the hang of it. I still played the song myself so it's still technically live...
