Was Celestia in the previous generations at all?

She is over 1000 years old so...if the previous generations are connected in any way I would suspect that Celestia was also in those.

No, she wasn't in any of the previous gens. However, Celestia and Luna were supposedly based on the G1 princess ponies, though I don't see how.

My theory is that the Pony universe is in a time loop and the world keeps getting reset. This is the fourth cycle.

The finale of the series will be the Mane 6 breaking out of it and saving Equestria.

I believe it was confusion over the gen 1 princesses that led Luna to be called Selene in some of the toys. Although I also think I read somewhere that Luna was originally going to be called Selene.

I believe the ruined castle in the Everfree Forest was meant as a shout out to, or the remains of, a castle from G1.

I don't think she was in any previous generations, but I haven't watched any so I might be wrong.
