[Marathon 562]

Stacy finished her letter and read over it again and again, as if it was written to her. She read it one last time. Even though it was kind of short it was all she could manage to write before it became unreadable from her crying, so she decided she would finish it later. Getting to her feet she again stuffed the letter into her saddle bag, and trotted over to help finish the raft with tears still in her eyes.

Bright Spark, who had been busy making the ores, Had seen Stacy coming back over. But this time she was crying, which had always worried him that she would try somthing. He went over to her and said reassuringly, "OK, what has gotten to ya' this time then eh?"

[Marathon 562]

Stacy looked up at Spark, who to her surprise had come over to her. She was thrown off guard and didnt know what to say. She had to say something though. "I-its nothing. Just dont worry about it right now ok." She paused and then looked at him with pleading eyes and whispered, "Just...take care of Rose for me alright. For when im gone..." With that she quickly got away from him and continued to help on the raft.

Bright Spark looked confused at Stacy. For some reason she sounded as  if she had given up with rose, what with her saying to "take care of her" as if she was going somwhere. And apparently she was going somewhere and expected him to know. But he knew when not to talk, and instead just continued with the ores.

Star watched as Somber fell into the crater. "S-SOMBER... N-No." Then her eyes shut and she started to fall unconscious.

 

*He's gone... I'm alone on top of a volcano... Nopony is going to save me.* She thought. Then she felt somepony next to her. *No, Leave me, I dont want to live without him.*

Somber lifted Star onto his back, not caring about his own pain...

 

...until the pain actually got to him. He couldn't fly without either dropping her, or suffering permanent wing damage... He had no choice but to walk down the trail, enduring every shot pain through his body.

     Firecracker decided take a to break for five minutes, deciding that the volcano wouldn't erupt during his break. He went around to see who was doing what at the moment. Stacy, Spark, Moonbeam, Rose, and Scamps were currently helping building and polishing the raft. Airy was just lying on the raft, mainly because of his handicap. But he didn't seem to find Star or Somber anywhere. "If they're taking a break, that's fine, but they better be back soon." he thought. After the five minutes, he went back to working on the raft, pacing up for lost time.

Rose's ears kept flicking. The forest kept trying to grab her attention, and frankly, it was getting on her nerves. She didn't want to listen to whatever it had to say. She tried to keep working on the raft, across from where Stacy worked, in silence, but that constant ear twitch... She had to listen. She got up, and followed the whispers. Indistinct, jumbled, confused voices they were, and they led her deeper into the island... They led her to where one injured pony carried another... 

 

"... Somber? Star?"

Finally, Somber and the unconscious Star make it off the volcano trail, and back into the jungle. But, Somber couldn't take carrying her anymore. One more step and he could be damaged for good...

 

He set her down up against a tree, sitting right next to her, holding her hooves....

 

"Star... Please wake up.... Please..."

[Marathon 562]

As Stacy worked she noticed Rose left with her ears twitching. *Must be the forest.* she thought mournfully to herself. *man shes crazy. But thats why you love her you idiot!* she chuckled to herself at that thought, but it was true. What she was going to do could possibly devastate her, and Stacy didnt want to do it. But it has to be done...

Star slowly started to open her eyes. "No... Leave me I dont want to...Somber ? SOMBER." She sat up but fell back against the tree almost right away. "My Head... Ugh, What happened, I saw you fall into the volcano. Are you O-" She was interrupted by a voice coming from just behind them. "Rose ?"

[Undyne 1,483]

"I did fall in... But, what saved me... Was you... I didn't want to lose you at all. I didn't want to die yet. And my wings sort of... opened up to that idea. One of the zebras had shot a blow dart into your leg. I can tell because of the mark."

 

Somber turned to see Rose, looking worried.

Rose rushed up to the pair, who both looked extremely weak. "What happened, you two? Aren't you both a sight for sore eyes?" Rose asked. She knew that, whatever was happening, she should help. Neither looked strong enough to continue. She knew a way to move both of them, but she'd only ever cast the spell she had in mind once before... And she had barely survived that time... "Will you need me to move you? Neither of you look fit to move."

[Miss Light Diamond 2,801]

"No no... I can handle it... Just give me a sec to stand up... I dont know about Somber though." She said, slowly pushing herself to her hooves. "Just give me a minute to get used to it." She said, swaying on the spot. "Star, You need to do this." She thought, taking hold of a tree for support.

[Descant 1,897]

"Don't worry, Star, I can get him taken care of." Rose visibly strained, and instead of carrying him like Star obviously expected, she directed her magic at a large nearby tree stump. The strain continued to show on Rose as the tree stump pulled itself out of the ground, and walked over to the three on its roots, which were acting like many tiny tiny legs. Rose looked tired, but pleased. "It's a come to life spell. Have him ride on the stump."

[Marathon 562]

After a while Stacy noticed the raft was nearly complete! She looked around and noticed that Star, Somber, and Rose were all gone. *That must have been why she left. What if Somber and Star need help?* she looked around franticaly and ran off to the forest. She thought she saw a faint trail and decided to folow it.

 

Eventualy Stacy came across a worried looking Rose. A Disorinanted Star, and Somber looking worse than he did before. Stacy was about to approach them until she noticed that Rose was using her magic. She looked strained as Stacy noticed a tree stump move. Stacy slowly moved up to the group. "Rose...are you ok?" She asked quietly not sure what to expect from her.

"I don't know whether to be scared about the stump.... Or scared about you...", Somber merely said to Rose, as he got on top of the stump. 

 

This is so weird... I can't believe I'm on a walking tree stump. This is too kooky... It's like I'm in one of those old pony cartoons where the nature did whatever they want.

[Descant 1,897]

Rose panted, and nodded, barely recognising who was speaking to her. She was a little unsteady on her hooves; the spell was powerful, and just within her limits. If she practiced it, she would surely be able to cast it, no problem, but... As it was... "Don't worry about me," she told Stacy, her voice weary. "Worry about Star and Somber. I'll be fine. And why would you be scared about me or the stump?" Rose asked Somber as he clambered onto the Walking Stump.

"Well, for one... You made a plant come to life... That's what scares me... All of this... Just to help me... Even the leaf bed from earlier... Thank you Rose...", Somber said to her, looking back over to Star. 

 

"And don't worry about Dew anymore. He's gone for good. So don't worry about him."

Stacy took a second glance now worried about Rose. She almost looked a little pale, like the spell was to hard for her. Instead of arguing she simply nodded and went over to Star to help her walk. She took the letter out of her saddlebag and was trying to decide if she should stay at Ponyville or not. If she did stay Stacy would have to deal with problems she already has. If she did leave she could leave all of it behind, but she would lose all her friends in the process. Her mom and Hop wouldnt know what to do. But everyone else would go on with their normal lives. Stacy would also be sending Rose in hand basket to Spark without even fighting for a chance to be with her. But yet, the simple fact that Stacys an alcoholic out weighs anything good about her. She would have to leave anyways and Rose wouldnt be able to look at her anymore. Stacy hated herself for all those reasons. And now Rose was sitting here, straining herself, possibly almost to death. And Stacy was just going to walk away? Stacy now fully understood why she was second guessing her. And she didnt blame Rose.

[Miss Light Diamond 2,801]

"Thanks for your help Stacy." Star said, leaning against Stacy. "You guys truly are my best friends... and not just you, Moonbeam and everypony at the beach... Thank you." She said, As they walked through the jungle. "And... I hope you're right Somber... In all those movies the bad pony manages to hold onto a root or something but... I dont know how there would be a root on a volcano." She muttered with a slight giggle, Then the ground began to shake, it lasted a little bit longer than it had before.

Rose smiled weakly. "I'd do it for anypony," she said tiredly. She started towards the beach, dragging her hooves, and with a flick of her tail, the stump followed, flitting around her almost like it was her pet dog. "Anypony worth knowing, anyway. And Somber... What would you have me do? Leave you there?"

 

She stumbled, and very nearly fell, as the ground shook, harder than it had before.

Stacy smiled at Star. "Its no problem. Just try to be careful next time alright." Stacy watched as the stump comically moved around Rose. Rose looked a little better now but not by much. The ground then shook and stacy stood still for a second so she wouldnt fall. "I dont think we have very much time left. We need to hurry and get the raft into the water. Its was almost done when i left so lets hope that it is." She said panic creeping into her voice.

Star immediately fell to the ground. "Oops... Im ok...Rose, Stacy, Somber, Are you alright." She asked, Pushing herself to her hooves. "We should get going, Everypony at the beach will be wondering where we went." She said, continuing the walk to the beach. *The sooner we get off this island... The sooner I will... Be happy that we are off the island.* She thought.

Moonbeam stopped working for a moment and she looked off into the jungle. Star had been gone for a while, and Rose had dissapeared too. In the jungle she saw three figures approaching. It was Star, Somber, and Rose!

 

She pointed them out to the others and rushed out to help them. Star and Somber seemed to be hurt badly. They needed to get them on the raft with Airy and give them the best medical attention they could muster.

 

As she ran, there was one enormous rumble from under the island, and a loud cracking noise followed. Then the sound of ash wooshing up into the sky could be heard as the sky turned dark.

 

They had to hurry and get out on the water!
