What if Nightmare Moon was meant to happen?

Guys, I've just had an epiphany, and knowing the incomprehensible range of talent in this fandom, probably 400 of you have thought the same thing. Hear em out anyways.

 

So we see at the end of the Season 3 pilot that Luna brings out a dossier. She was also there when Celestia gave Twilight her mission to save the Crystal Ponies and whatnot. So we know that she is involved, albeit not too involved, with Twilight's studies. Taking this into account, we can see that, in the future, she will have some influence on the shows major plot lines.

 

Now we track back to the season 2 finale. Why didn't Luna arrive AT ALL to help Celestia? Especially considering that "A threat has been made against Canterlot"? Seems pretty fishy to me.

 

Now back to the First episode of season 1. Nightmare Moon returns after a thousand years blah blah blah. Now here is the main subject of the matter:

 

THE ENTIRE NIGHTMARE MOON SITUATION WAS MEANT TO HAPPEN. 

 

Luna, together with Celestia, made the whole thing up. (Jealousy seems a poor subject to choose for something of that scope.) Celestia beats Luna's ass to the moon with the Elements of Harmony, and it all gets recorded, along with the Thousand Year thing. Twilight reads it, as perhaps prophesied by Celestia (She is over 1000 years old remember), and uses the EoH to defeat Nightmare Moon and restore harmony.

 

Luna was never evil. How could Nightmare Moon/Luna have been so easily outwitted by the Season 1 Twilight Sparkle, who struggles to teleport?

 

Now back to season 2's finale. Luna was forced to stay out of the way, so that Twilight Sparkle could aid in the defeat of Chrysalis and save the day. If Chrysalis is some kind of changeling queen, and Celestia can beat Nightmare Moon, surely Chrysalis was no match for the Princess of the Sun? Regardless of how much power she had gained from Shining Armor. 

 

Season 3. Sombra hasn't even returned to full power, and Luna and Celestia are both okay. They can't go to the Crystal Empire because Celestia wants Twilight to sort it out. This seems obvious, as in the dialogue exchanged between the royal sisters, Twilight is to use the oppurtunity to "reach the next level".

 

I may have gone into this a little too much, but if you're suffering from a case of TL;DR, Nightmare Moon was meant to happen. In other words, Nightmare Moon never truly existed.

Um...it's an interesting idea and all, but MLP doesn't do conspiraces. There's no way they'll do anything like this on the show.

 

It's worth a shot in fanfiction, though. ^^

I don't think it was meant to happen.

Nightmare Moon was more of a idea of a good villain, really was worth it having Luna as Nightmare Moon.

It did seem like all of the sudden at the end of the pilot, Luna just suddenly wanted to be back with Celestia. It seemed almost like she was acting. So it could be a conspiracy, but I don't think so.

Though I think there was more going on than simple jealousy and there is the chance that Luna may have had a legitimate gripe or two as even Celestia isn't perfect it is highly unlikely that such a conspiracy happened. As has been previously pointed out though it is good fanfic fodder so if you want to that than be my guest.

It's all building up to a mass false flag policy to invade the Changelings kingdom, take out Chrysalis to strengthen ties with the regions oil reserves. Why else do you think Celestia would say "Let's go take out Chrysalis" when she was supposed to be fighting Discord after his September attack on Equestia? What does Chrysalis have to do with his attacks?

No way this would happen in the show, it screams conspiracy, and I don't like it.  It's a different idea though, but it just doesn't make sense.

I don't know, it can't be proven to be canon. For all I know Nightmare Moon's true motives could have been an icecream sandwich that Celestia stole from her. It doesn't really contribute anything to the plot of the show itself.

Where's Luna been for the last thousand years? What was the point of pretending there was a Nightmare Moon? Why was Celestia sealed in a green pod? And where does Discord fit into all of this?
