Well, first a little bit about myself hm? 

My name is Andrew Lang for those of you who do not know, and among other things biggest passion in life is competitive swimming. I have been swimming since I was ten and am currently among the top 5% swimmers in the country. I swim the 50 and 100 meter freestyle, the 100 and 200 meter butterfly, and the 200 meter breastroke, on top of what ever relay's I may ever swim. My life dream is to compete in the Olympics and put my swimming to the test against the greatest in the world on the biggest stage there is.

 

I had always thought of myself as a Rainbow Dash, confident and powerful, skilled enough to beat anybody foolish enough to get in a lane next to me, I always knew I would win, no matter the race. But i'm not, am I? I still have so much to learn and much to perfect in myself, will I make it to the Olympics some day? Yes, absolutely, but I have so much work left before I reach that point. 

 

Thank you Michael Phelps for being my Rainbow Dash, you are what I dream of being, I compare myself to you and want nothing more than to be you. You put the work in, and reached your goal. You are the Rainbow Dash here, you are already the greatest flier in Equestria; you have already won.

 

So thank you Scootaloo, for showing me what emulation and idolization mean, for teaching me that there are goals to work for and effort to put forward in becoming that what you dream of most, and that giving up is strictly forbidden.

 

Thanks kiddo, you and me both are going to fly some day.

I myself am actually a pretty bleh swimmer. I can swim ok, but I'm not really confident in being able to swim. And I'm certainly not able to swim competitively. In fact due to my lack of confidence in my swimming abilities, I'm almost minorly scared of water in a way .

 

Anyways, I wish you the best of luck! I hope you get to achieve your dreams! Being able to accomplish dreams is something to strive for, but being able to actually do it is really awesome!

I know, I'm not planning on really becoming a micheal phelps like you or anything, I was just felt like stating how I was not very competent at even simple swimming .

Wow... Thank you for that, it means a lot to me. I already have Dashies cutie mark tattooed on my thigh but speedos that show thighs are not allowed in national competition. I won't leave this fandom either, it means literally everything to me. I am going to be a Rainbow Dash some day ;3 and be the pony everypony should know.

Even though I'm not a swimmer (my place is in the sky, not the water), I know those feels. I've been having an existential/identity crisis that I've posted about in Life Advice a few times already, so even now more than ever I am really associating with the CMC, and especially Scootaloo. Her and RD are becoming a primary influence in my flight training. I would have never dreamed of a life of aerobatics if it weren't for Rainbow Dash, but now it's becoming the only flying I want to do, and in my heart it feels more "right" than flying as an airline pilot...like its what I am meant to do. I feel like I'm finally finding my Cutie Mark.

 

As for real life:

 

My Rainbow Dash is Sean D. Tucker.

 

My Wonderbolts are the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team.

 

And even though its early, I'm already designing RD liveries for various aerobatic planes I might find myself in. In fact, when I solo later this semester and the flight school cuts a square from my shirt to signify the event, I will give them the cutie mark section of an RD shirt. Even if I have to buy the shirt just to be worn that one time, it will be worth it.

 

Just keep following your dreams, everypony. Follow them with all your might like RD and Scootaloo, because fortune favors the brave.

 

PS: I love threads like these, where the discussions about ponies become much deeper and people recognize just how much being a Brony changes their lives.

Awww... -ponyhug- I have been a brony since early 2011, I got my Rainbow Dash cutie mark tattoo new years day 2012, yet I never realized just how much it really meant to me until recently, and then... welll listening this. though be warned... Feels ahead

I know I can't swim, but Phelps has really inspired to never give up. But I guess, my other inspiration is MLP.

Thanks ;3 I don't think it's possible to be better than him though, at least not realistically.

Yeah they top 5% includes swimmers who swim fast than a 21.2 in long course 50 meter freestyle and 46 in the 100 meter freestyle, so that's where I am sitting at for now.
