The more experience they gather by making background ponies, the better they will make Rares... At least i hope so...

 

Lets be honest, it is quite hard to sculpt someone as gorgeous as Rarity with limited expertise, let them make the beginner errors with background ponies and after they perfected their craft, they can do their masterpiece!
