Trixie and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are a perfect fit. Both arrogant, pompous, overhyped, and always failing to live up to expectation.

I say this as an alumnus of a bitter rival, the great University of Michigan. (and also Rarity, but I would guess Twilight is more of a rival to Trixie than Rarity is)
