where do you get ideas for topics?

i happened to notice that lots of people get good ideas for topics,so it made me wonder.Where do you guys get your ideas for topics?I get my ideas by doing stuff then it gives me an idea.

I've only made a few topics, and a few of those were actually duplicates. They just came to me, I didn't sit around think of good topics for mlp forums. Eventually, an idea just comes to you. You just search for it. If it hasn't already been made, post it!

My brain just does its own thing.

 

Sometimes it makes me think that I'm a bird, sometimes it makes me smart, sometimes it conjures up the most random stuff. Like a robot lady bug eagle creature with fire-breath, dragon scales, and teeth. And sometimes it randomly gives me good ideas for topics.

 

Most of the time, it just makes me randomly shout, and stare at random things for about 5 seconds until I get bored and do something else.

Really though, whenever I just come up with something I'm curious about or like to know I'll make one.  I don't try, sometimes it just happens when I'm playing video games or watching the news or back from the daily grind.

I usually make a lot of topics, most of which just come to me.. sometimes , i like to start conversations but if I don't know who to converse with, ill just post it here. There's bound to be people that would share interests with you.

I come up with alot of my best ideas at work, I know I said I hate that place many times but thinking of something else is often a good way to keep a hold on your sanity. Though I have some other sources as well, the topic idea I am most proud of actually was one I came up with after talking with a friend of mine who does not like Rarity very much and I kept saying "come on she isn't THAT bad" so I thought "what if somebody made a topic where you had to say something nice about your least favorite mane 6 character?" So I figured why not? And I went for it, if you want to see the topic I have the link for it below.

I've only made a few, and they were just ideas that popped into my head when I was bored.  I might even start a blog soon called "Studies of the Highway."  It'll basically be in depth studies of what the bad drivers drive and rare car sightings that I see whenever I drive to Bloomington and back for classes, as well as what the buck moments I see.

I get all my idea at work, because most of the time I just space out and think about stuff.. from the show and other things that have happened to me.

 

Or when I'm in the shower... oddly a lot of my ideas come from when I take a shower..

My ideas for topics come at completely random times. I can be in the shower or laying in bed when all of a sudden, a new topic pops up in my mind. There is nothing specific that triggers the topic. It's just me doing normal, everyday things when I randomly think of it.

Most of the time, they just seem to come randomly to me. Often, a little drop of boredom (especially for some forum games I posted) or haphazard thinking is needed before an idea comes to mind, though conversations I'm having or recent events/observations in my life have also given me inspiration.

Sigs / Avas I no Longer Use: I make all my own avatars and sigs, and I go through them like crazy.  I envisioned a site where everyone uses a Rainbow Dash avatar. ; _ ;  It's a beautiful dream.

I Draw Rainbow Dash a Lot: I'd been drawing Rainbow Dash a lot.  And I thought (rhymed): Hey...  I can make a topic about this.  And then I did.

Swimsuit Ponies Fan Club: Swimsuits.  Ponies.  Fairly self-explanatory.

Pudgy Pony Bellies Fan Club: I am, in fact, quite fond of Rainbow's belly.  Creating a fan club just made too much sense.

Would you like to tickle a pony?:  The age old question.  It was simply time MLP Forums tackled it.

Pony fashion is adorable: (Topic title was changed by staff) Basically an excuse to post Rainbow Dash in various outfits.

Granny Smith Fan Club: Granny Smith is awesome.  I realized this.  I made a fan club.

Pony Snout / Muzzle Fan Club: You'll notice something of a trend emerging. x3  I go: "Hmm...  What parts of Rainbow Dash appeal to me?  Duh!  ALL THE PARTS!"  I even made a pony eyebrows fan club.  Not kidding.

The main inspirations for me are my interests and passions and wanting to share that passion. I try to think of interesting topics related to stuff I love and I want to share that passion with others and then I can see the passion of others in that topic. Passion creates passion and it can be great to simply express why you love something. It can make one appreciate those things even more.
