Much as I enjoy having Trixie stay over, I do like being on my own. Also, even I have no idea exactly why she is here, she didn't tell me past "a business trip".

Her actions involving gaining the alicorn amulet and using it against Twilight after which then taking over Ponyville tell me otherwise that she can rule responsibly with power.

 

Yet with a bit of training and learning, perhaps from either or both Princess Luna and Twilight that very well may change and she would make a great ruler.

The thought did pass my mind.

 

I may see great merit in Trixie as a character, with untapped potential, but at this point she's just a traveling showpony/entertainer. Trixie would need let go of her ego, admit to herself that there is still much she can learn... much she can be taught by others.

 

Only then can she truly grow to the point where she can say in truth she is the Great and Powerful

She is a showpony. Weather spells are not her speciality. I do know one, but if the snow gets to the point where travelling is difficult/impossible, the spell would be too draining.
