Discord Wants You Gone [PMV]

To distract you from all of the alicorn Twilight ruckus, why not have a Discord PMV? I wanted to do something with a bit of a different style than my usual this time. Tell me if it worked!

What an intriguing idea.  I must say that it does work well.  You certainly must have gone through the episodes quite a few times to find those good speech replacement parts.  John Delancie doesn't speak as much as he should eh?  I can't say that there was too much custom animation.  I mean, the clips fit well together and you put them in the right place, but you didn't include much of the 3d workspace that some animators use a lot of for PMVs.  An easy way to improve would be to use a greater variety in transitions instead of the one screen flicker and crossfades.  

 

Then again, I have no clue which program you used for this, so everything I'm saying could be totally irrelevant.  I usually use After Effects CS5.  But if you're using a program that doesn't allow for much custom animation, then bravo my friend.

 

Also, I again must emphasize how great of an idea this was in it's entirety.  Discord being Glados is such a well fitting relationship that I had personally never thought of before.  So a definite plus on the originality scale.

Very good. Your lip syncing is superb for how many episodes you actually have to work with. So yea. Great job. I wish I had such abilities.

Thank you a lot for your detailed response, it gives me good ideas on what to try next time (there is a tool that lets you input whatever shape you want for a transition, which sounds very fun to experiment with).

 

I'm only using Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 12, which is basically a stripped down version of Sony Vegas, so I unfortunately don't have many tools for custom animation and masking. After Effects is... a bit expensive for me.

All I do is take songs that other people made and put them to video that other people made. I'm not a great artist (like, say, Firebolt here), musician, or animator. I mean... it's not that unattainable, is it? Just find a video editor and get going.

Ha! Funny thing, I actually started a PMV of Discord set to a cover of Want You Gone a while back because I felt like it fit him, too.

 

This was really awesome. Loved the effects you used for transitions, it worked well with the song. And the ending was spot on. Excellent work!

I'll be honest.  That was a different sounding and feeling video from what you've put out before.  And even though I was a fan of Keep Calm and Flutter On, it may just be your video that turns me into a full blown Fluttercord fan.

 

And I'm having a hard time believing Flutershy is your least favorite pony.  You sure do give her a lot of screen time in your PMVs.
