so just saw a little girl in a princess dress except for some reason this one made me think of princess celestia.

The first pony costume I see gets three pieces of candy instead of one.

You know, sometimes, it's really strange what can happen when you step out of one cultural sphere, and back into another. On the internet, most of the time I'm immersing myself, in one way or another, into "queer" culture, or the culture of people of LGBTAQQ identities. It's an atmosphere of sex positivity, openness, and tolerance to a level that is far beyond anything you see in the mainstream.

And then I step back into mainstream culture and feel both overwhelmed and upset at what I see, and tend to let myself get far more angry trying to argue over things than is really worthwhile.

I'm not sure there's much point to why I'm saying this--I just felt like venting a bit and letting loose this observation. Different cultural spheres can so often mean confusion and sometimes misery when you switch between them.

Even though I might not have seen/felt your experiences, I can relate to this a lot - the internet, as shitty and mean it can get, we can stick to things on here and not be afraid to be ourselves and just let loose. We can be ourselves and say what we really want to say and all that, as trite as this sounds.

Allow me to demonstrate my hospitality with a saucy pony pic.

So....ummm....HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYPONY! How's everyone doing?

For all intents and purposes, you can add me to this list too.

Why? I haven't seen you start something with a saucy-related post not once in the GCT

Any culture changes, IRL or in the Internet, can get to you. Even if they were very similar cultures, there's probably something your bound to either be annoyed or love. And since the sexual affinity thing is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO disussed out there (whether for good or for bad), the differences get MUCH, MUCH bigger.

Well, I said starters, not joiners. Otherwise, more than half the GCT would probably have to go in the list.

What I will say is positive about this fandom is that it has been a bit more tolerant than a lot of other fandoms. Most fandoms, you walk into them, and you're generally seeing constant slurs like "fag" flying left and right over the simplest of things. Female/female shipping predominates in pony fanfiction, which is almost unheard of in most other fandoms. The fandom also definitely seems to attract a lot more queer people, or at least more openly queer people. (Just look at the statistics in the sexual orientation thread on the number of bisexuals, pansexuals, etc, and compare that to the statistics of the general population, or of other fandoms to see one example of what I mean.)

But, as you say, this fandom is hardly the most tolerant of communities in existence. Quite the opposite--in some ways it's even more hostile. The sheer amount of sexism flying back in this fandom alone is fairly disgusting, as is hypocrisy. The term brony, for example, regardless of what a lot of people try to claim, is not and cannot be gender neutral--that's why you always see me say pony fan. And yet, people try to claim it all the time, or even force it. Female/female shipping, a-okay, but any kind of male/male shipping stories tend to be slammed regardless of the quality of the content. Similarly, there is a great deal of transphobia in this fandom. A lot of transphobia tends to go on at pony fan conventions amongst the staff, and many prominent musicians in the fandom have been transphobic--one of the most disturbing examples, in my opinion, being Yelling at Cats, who also encouraged all kinds of awful violence.

I mean, we only have to look at the sorts of stuff posted a lot of the time in our own Everfree Forest section to see. At times I'm appalled by how socially conservative a great deal of the fandom is, or the hypocrisy of people who can somehow watch a show that is one of the single most empowering shows for women I've ever seen...and then go on to hold some of the most sexist attitudes I've ever seen. It's doublethink that I just don't understand.

And since the sexual affinity thing is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO disussed out there (whether for good or for bad), the differences get MUCH, MUCH bigger.

It's true, they can. They get to me a great deal because I'm...I'm so much more aware of so many things. For instance, I can see plenty of examples of casual sexism in everyday behavior of people--including, sadly, myself, things I work very hard to stop--that everyone in the mainstream are completely blind to. They don't even see it. And that clash, that disconnect, confuses me and tends to enrage me, when I see people not even seeing what they're doing with their own behavior.

But also, I'm a lot more sensitive to things because I've been moving far more towards being open with my sexual orientation and gender identity, not just online, but in public as well. I mean, as soon as I move in December, I plan on starting to wear dresses and such in public, things like that, stuff I've wanted to do but can't. So I'm going to see more hostility as a result of that, and the cultural clash will just grow.

I just, again, felt like venting.

i guess my Darkmere cover is as good as done now. i made the last part not sound like a trainwreck of rhythm, and added some simple reverb to the drum hits and piano track. i think that's as far as i can go with it now with my current knowledge of FL Studio. who wants to see a thread of it on here?

@JayBee, thanks for the avvie! /)^3^(

In my magic box of awesome! :*

At school the seniors were allowed to dress up in costumes, and I saw everything. I saw one as Master Chief, one as Slender, the knights from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, a gay Boy Scout, two as giant iPods, two as deadmau5, a guy in a banane suit, one

dressed up as a country girl , and more :P.

That sounds bucking hilarious. Especially the gay boy scout! XD

one dressed up as a country girl

Please tell me she was hot.

Fear the lifeless staring ponies, for they shall bring upon your doom.

Mortals shall fall to our stare.

Also, I noticed what you did to yours.

And I like it.

BOO!! Posted Image

Me want hugs and to devour your soul

Will somepony give me a hug?

No. Get the fuck outta here.

<3

Merry Halloween and all that jazz.

Random memory that arose from that statement. I remember some hot chicks one year said something like that to me and my friend.

Damn that bumblebee was sexy.

I'm not doing jack shit.

I wouldn't do him either, he's nasty.

Me either. Aren't we just awesome and full of fun?

Well, like I said, it doesn't really bother me. I mean, maybe if I was flamed it would have bothered me, but no one really cared.

*Insert flaming comment about that subject of which I actually don't fully remember at the moment*

Dude, cold pizza is the best thing ever.

Nope. I can't stand eating it at all. Once it gets cold it either gets re-heated, thrown away, or put in the fridge for later.

We did this at our school too. I really wanted to make a deadmau5 head but they said we couldn't have masks of any kind... I didn't go as anything in particular though, I just grabbed a bright orange suit jacket and a pair of black and white checkered pants out of my dad's costume trunk and wore that. Oh, and a fez

Maybe if you just put on some giant ears, painted your face and had some giant eyes over yours that you can see through?

Technically not a mask.

That is the most random Halloween costume I have ever heard of.

Um I just mentioned...

MY DISCORD PUMPKIN THAT TOOK ME FOREVER TO CARVE!!!

Not to sound like a dick or a douchebag or anything, but don't attempt to make someone pay attention to any/everything you say, i.e attention whore. You may have mentioned it, but that doesn't mean anyone else has to acknowledge it.

Also, should you draw or do something and want to show it off, just post it and tell us about it. You don't have to ask if anyone wants to see it unless you just feel its necessary.

I'm watching scary movies and handing out candy for Halloween. I wish I had something better to do this year.

I ain't got crap to do at all. So you can join me and Bluetrace in not doing anything and we can not do anything together! :D

What do those last three letters stand for?

I got the first three and think I know the fourth, but the last three are completely stumping me and I'm curious.

Asexual, Queer, and Questioning. You could also add two additional letters, I for Intersex(what used to be known as a hermaphrodite) and A for Ally, or someone who doesn't identify as any of the preceding things, but shows support, tolerance, and acceptance anyway.

Venting is good. :) It's never a good idea to hold feelings on your own UNLESS it's really necessary. But to the point in case.

To me, this fandom is AWESOME. Pure and simple. And I haven't had any bad experiences to actually say otherwise. That's not to say I'm ignoring that there are any. There probably ARE many of those bad experiences. But what I don't like is when the fandom gets generalized over them. I've got some details on what the YAC problem was, but not the entire issue. However, I can still say some things.. For first, YAC apologized for what he said, and that didn't mean any insult to any transgendered people, but he was severly pissed off with the girl he was singing about. And two, YAC tends to be quite direct in his speech, and never pulls any punches. But I don't think he wants to promote violence.

I'm not saying that I know a lot of the fandom. In fact, I probably know very little compared to others. But what I go is...this fandom is big. Really big. We all know this. Are we all sure that it is THAT bad?....Not to insult you or anything Kyronea.

And as for the other...well, I understand. It probably ISN'T easy hearing/seeing all those bad stuff about Transgender people and more. I consider myself a pretty tolerant person, and I consider "brony" as a gender-neutral word. And frankly, I admire you for giving a damn thing about what they say to you. Cultural clash will ALWAYS grow. It's a matter of humanity by now, sadly.

If...this comes as offensive, then sorry. Not really my intention over here. :(

Aah, gotcha.

Never knew about those last two. You learn something new everyday.

Nother question, what is the difference between gay and queer? At least I'm assuming the G stands for gay.

Random fact: I never even knew anything other than straight and gay existed until I joined this fandom.

About 2 hours.

Why you ask, Arcy?
