((Ooc: I may not be able to post because I'm in Hong Kong right now for a bit of a vacation, but I'll see if I still can ;) )

Raze saw what happened, right after he got everyone at the camp to rendezvous at the place where White's unconscious body was. He was a bit surprised to see Kazas acting like that, but somehow knew Kazas would be pushed over the edge. Just like what happened with himself only a day ago...

Raze sighed. "Everything's really just gone out of control..."

He approached Kazas, slowly and carefully, as he did not want to spark another huge fight.

"Woah there, Kaz," he said, trying to reason out with him. "Let's face it: you've nearly mutilated the guy and the spirit of his special somepony. Don't you think you've had enough? Now let's drop the sword, and make sure we don't do something we will most likely regret... unless that is what you want to do, in which case that means you've pretty much gone against everything you've ever stood for... what did you call yourself again? 'The guardian of life'? Well it sure doesn't seem like it..."

What Raze was trying to do here was stall for time to make sure Vaas got out of there quickly.

C'mon Vaas, hurry up; I'm not sure how long I can keep this up... he thought.

Ooc: Basically, I'm liking this RP and don't want it to end with the deaths of everypony. O_o We haven't even met the necromancer yet! XD

Diego blasted the entire area with chaos magic. This was more magic than he'd ever done in his life before; all the training he'd done just seemingly leading up to this point. The essence of chaos magic was to make the impossible happen. It would seem impossible to close the rift now, after all that had happened so far, but chaos magic could do it. He ignored Kazas; there was nothing that he could say to the griffon, if he didn't realise that blasting Vaas was a pointless exercise when there was a rift to close, and a demon to be forced back inside Tartarus.

The sheer force of the chaos magic turned the surrounding area red. Everything glowed, and slowly but surely Diego could see the demon being forced back inside of the rift, which was closing bit by bit. Diego was almost scared himself at the power that he'd had inside him; maybe his entire life had been leading up to this moment. The strain showing on his face, his plan eventually succeeded. At the moment that everything came to fruition, everywhere glowed blindingly white for an instant. When the white glow faded away, Diego was gone.

In a strange place, Diego lay on his side. "Where am I?" he thought. "Is this death? It's not so bad, not nearly as bad as I thought." He raised his head and looked up to see the figure of a pony approaching. Not just any pony, however; this was none other than Princess Luna.

"Only those who come into their power," she said, "Those who make the ultimate sacrifice to ensure that everything is right, reach this point. You were gifted with a power that some would see as a curse, but instead of letting it lead you to evil, you trained it til you reached the point of no return, and used it to perform great good. However, for you, there is a return. You are ready for this."

The princess smiled at Diego, then turned and walked away. Diego didn't know what she meant, or how much time had passed since he'd been brought to this strange place. A glow of blue light began; he could see it in the corner of his eye, getting closer and closer til it enveloped him and he felt himself falling.

Diego woke up, in exactly the same place he'd been before. He looked around himself in a dazed way, not even registering the fact that he now had wings...

((Oooh shit, Deigo. I'm not going to acknowledge that until I get something from our dear DM otherwise.))

Enough. The Jester had enough. There was death and destruction everywhere, and he wasn't part of it? "COWABUGA!" he screamed, and let loose.

Over the next five minutes, he emptied about a thousand gigavolts of energy though various means, evisterating without realizing it the majority of the spirits in the blade. And then he heard the dreaded click. OUT OF AMMO flashed before his eyes. "Oh, crud." He drew his axe to see Vaas on the ground. "Can I kill him, eh?" he whispered to Kazas.

White Darkness shook his head. "I don't think that that will be needed, he said, shaking his head."

White Rose sat up, stunned. "Will he even be alive after this...?"

Shadow Seer glanced in a nearby pool and shook her head. "I fear that this will not be the last time he causes us trouble, whether we kill him or not."

Jester looked at him. "Then can I kill him now, since it doesn't matter?"

"No. Because if doesn't matter if you kill him or not."

"Wha?"

"Life is more powerful than death."

"You are no fun, you know that, lass?"

Kazas looked at raze and sheathed his sword. " relax raze... I'm fine. As the guardian of life, if it is to save another, everything is permitted. I am myself again. Fiddlesticks head will be mounted on my belt soon, as that is his humiliation and punishment for threatening my family and the entire empire. Besides, you saw what happened. I'm giving him one more chance, which is probably more than he even deserves. Next time, if he causes trouble, he won't have fiddlesticks or those evil souls to help him. If he fucks us over one more time.... Even I won't have the compassion to let him live anymore. Besides, he should be fine, if he and winter deicide to inhabit the body and not pass on... But seriously... You're nervous... Stop. I know who my friends are. I am no threat to you."

Kazas looked at Diego. " you may be mad at me now, and death seems righteous for me, but understand this; he would have completely destroyed the empire, and that would have meant doom for your loved ones. I did what I had to do to protect my family, yours, and millions of others.... Looked through the hatred and realize that this couldn't have unfolded any other way. My only fear is the Tartarus rift..."

Kazas then looked to the daemontouched. " jester, don't. If he ruins the mission or threatens us again, he dies by my claw. I'm giving him just one more chance for a reason; a shot at redemption for all of his sins. No other suitable guardian of death can be trained yet. I'll know if he's gathering spirits again instead of helping them to pass on. Lets see if he is truly part of the prophecy or not....."

The griffon looked at seer. " you all must think me a monster after this, but I had to steel myself to do what I needed to do. However.... My family is still in danger.... Is it possible that you can open a portal for a little whole so I can tend the sick in my village? I need to go take care of my wife and my unhatched... As well as the others, if they were stricken.... Please, do this and I am forever indebted to you......"

Shadow Seer looked at Kazas deeply. "If you insist..." She focused. "I need you to think of where you are going to go..." Sensing that he was, he plucked the location and the coordinated from his mind. "Alright, then, Kazas. You will teleport to within one mile of the village center. When you are ready to go back, channel a bit of energy through the portal, and it will reopen and send you to me- wherever that may be at the time you return."

She took a deep breath and cast the spell, teleporting Kazas- about a hundred feet off target, but he was in the village.

The Jester sighed. "So I don't get to kill him?" White Darkness shook his head. "Darn. Fine. Then I call the next daemon lord/necromancer/whatever big bad we come across next."

White Rose looked at the sky. "Which won't be long..." She knelt down next to Vaas and began to treat his wounds, stroking his face every now and then. It was because of her mistranslation of Winter's desire that caused this to happen. Again. She began to wonder if she deserved to be on this mission. All she was so far was a dead weight to the others...

Kazas's mind flashed, and in one moment, he was teleported within his village. " ah... Seles.... It's only been a couple of days, but after all that's happened... It feels like a lifetime. No time to waste.... My family!" Kazas found his house. It was a giant hollowed tree, as most griffons preferred. It was on top of a mountain, which, through griffon landscaping, was hollowed out approximately 1000 feet. It was infact kinda like a giant bowl, in which the griffons brought soil from ground level and made their living as farmers and hunters. Kazas knocked on the door. " Taya! Open the door! It's me Kazas!" The door opened. Standing before him was his wife, as lovely as ever. She looked as healthy as could be, no signs of plague.

'" Kazas.... By the holy griffon emporer, you're alright! I've been so worried...'" She fell into his claws, her head against his beating heart.

" taya... Was there a plague cloud that came here? Are you infected?"

'" well there was a green cloud that came close to entering the village from on high... But glory had bad vibes about it, so she raised a barrier above the village and dispersed the cloud. No other places saw such a cloud. The empire is safe.'"

" oh thank the all maker.... So glory saved us, eh?" Kazas had a smile, warm and gentle across his face. " you remember when starfall asked me to find the one named Diego?"

'" yes... Wait... You found him?!?'"

Kazas noded. " I'm reopening the portal and I'm inviting everyone here... Except one. The one who was responsible for the cloud doesn't come near here, lest he be torn apart by me for even attempting to hurt you..."

Taya understood. This wasn't the first time that Kazas had given amnesty to an enemy that seemed unforgivable. She could only wonder if this time would be diffrent... If the person who Kazas spared would change whatever the griffon had defeated them for...

"' Kazas.... You've changed... You're feathers are pure white now with black tips... And you're right eye isn't slashed... It's open! What brought on such a change?"

" I assumed the mantle of the pheonix lord. Simorgh's soul mixed with mine. Don't worry, I'm still Kazas In mind and body... I just have simorgh's power coursing through me."

'"So simorgh is now apart of you... While I'm saddened to not hear from him anymore, I am sure that he gave you all of his power for a good cause'"

Kazas noded, and let his wife's embrace fall. " I'm going to reopen the portal and invite some guests. I'll help you cook dinner when they are here."

Taya noded, then gave Kazas a kiss. It eased his mind and reminded him what he was fighting for. He went out and opened the portal with his energy. He didn't jump in, but yelled into it. " Hey! Who wants dinner, courtesy of my wife and I! Just hope through the portal and you'll be in my village! Diego, I know you want to! There's some pony's you need to see! As for vaas... I don't trust him quite yet. If he awakens, leave him be! I don't want him anywhere near my family!"

With this, Kazas left the portal open, expecting at least Diego to pop in.

Jester rolled his eyes. "Homecooked meals? Bah! Nobody makes better homecooked meals tha-MMPH!"

Shadow Seer shoved her hoof inside The Jester's mouth and shoved him in, followed by herself. White Darkness jumped in afterwards.

White, however, stayed behind. "Someone has to be your link for you to get back here tomorrow. And besides... I don't think that Vaas would especially enjoy awaking to no one around. Who knows what he might do."

White Darkness stook his head out of the portal. "Bah, don't be such a killjoy. Relax! Come on! A homecooked meal? Who'd want to miss out on that?"

White Rose's face turned into a scowl. "Me." She shoved Darkness's head back in the portal.

She turned around and stalked away towards Vaas, put him on his back, and started to set up camp.

"Yeesh, what a grump." White Daarkness shook her head. "Can't blame her though... but missing our first decent warm meal in weeks? Wonder what's wrong with her."

The Jester raised an eyebrow. "Are you perhaps suggesting that my cooking is bad? Because," he added, a gatling coming out of his suit, "that you be a dangerous thing to suggest."

White Darkness shyed away, eyeing the gun.

The Jester turned to Taya, keeping his gun trained on White Darkness. "Anything that could be helped with concerning dinner?"

Taya did nothing but back away slowly, intimidated.

"Bah."

The Jester hit a button in his suit and slipped out of it. "Better? Better." He shook his head. "Now, do you request assistance?"

'" ho... Holy.... Kazas! Who is this?!? There's someone with a firearm in the house!!!"'

Kazas saw jester and the rest of the daemontouched. " heyheyhey!!! Not in my house! We have unhatched here! Besides, the rest of the village doesn't know you yet! You go around toting a damn gun and pointing at people, and not even your armor will save you from 500 + pissed off griffons! Put it away!"

With this, Kazas took a place beside his wife. " daemontouched... Meet my wife, taya. Taya, these are the daemontouched, some of the ponies I've been traveling with. It's only been two days, but after all we've been through already, I might as well say that I feel like I've known them longer than that."

Evening was setting and the stars were going to come out soon. " jester don't worry yourself. We'll cook for you. It'll be a great surprise. Go take a seat in the dining hall.... And for the love of the all maker... Stay away from the eggs. Griffon eggs are strong, but not even they can withstand two tons of steel falling on them. Anyways, welcome to my house, and the village of Seles, also known as the mountain crater village. Dinner won't be ready for another hour though, but I do believe it'll be we'll worth the wait. Taya, I already started boiling the water. I'm going to get father and mother, as well as starfall and glory. I'm also going to get a few of my war buddies. Don't worry, we'll have more than enough for everyone. However, we need to wait for the others. Feel free to explore the village, but don't cause trouble. If you get into minor trouble, drop my name and they'll leave you alone. Well, I gotta gather the guests. I'll be back. Make sure Diego gets through though. His family has been waiting for a long time for this moment."

Vaas looked at the body of Fiddlesticks as was in shock, "This can't be true..." Feeling Raze drag him away. His spirit was broken and he lost all of his powers, "I'm useless..." Reaching into his bag he pulled out a dagger. "My world has crashed and burned thanks to that bird..." A flicker of rage flashed in his eyes, "Vaas has died...from his mistakes a new warrior will rise." Throwing the dagger into a tree. The tree started to melt, "No more spirits! The only thing that fuel me is now is rage!" His wounds sealing up only leaving scars. He put his hoof into a pool of blood and pulled out twin blades, "Thank you Raze." Nodding at him. Feeling the whispers of Fiddlesticks he picked up his key and place on a chain and made it his new neckleace,

Walking back to the others,"Let's go kill this necromancer. My blades need a workout." His face filled with rage.

Walking up to White,"The Vaas you once knew is dead." Whispers of Fiddlesticks could be heard in his voice.

Walking into the forest a image of Fiddlesticks appeared next to him, "Rip his heart out. That bird can't live anymore." Vaas nodded. "This has become personal now. I will make sure he regrets messing with me." Cracking his neck. Fiddlesticks laughed, "It's good to see you understand what must be done now." Disappearing into him. "He killed my past now ill will repay the favor." Grinning wickedly. "First step take his powers away from him." Holding up one of his blades. "And this blade should help me with that." Stabbing a tree the tree blacken the life was sucked out of the tree. "This day forward my goal is to kill that bird."

((OOC: I'm not one to complain, but can we seriously stop with the god moding? I'm giving fair chances to fight back and the healing a arrow to the heart. I know you don't want to die but shit why am I the only one ok with dying?))

( dude I keep bringing you back! I'm trying to make sure we all get maximum enjoyment out of this and we can't keep going on with the vaas vs. Kazas arc forever. I was hoping vaas would change since I gave you life once more, an effect that will have ill consequence on kazas's body soon enough. Seriously though, you're trying to off everyone. We haven't even gotten to the neceomancer. I'd feel guilty if you're kicked out of the rp due to death. That's why I keep doing what I'm doing.)

Kazas went around gathering everyone for the meal. He picked up his father and his mother, and also brought along starfall and glory. " boy, do I have a big surprise for you two tonight. You're going to love this!" He kept walking toward his home, joined with syuveil, Dias, and Rem, his three compatriots from the griffon civil war, now turned guardsmen for the village. Escorted to his house, Kazas told his guests to have a seat in the dining area. " I've still got errands to run. I will return." With this, Kazas went to the guards quarters, housing approximately 30 men. He informed the guards of his concerns. " get a guard and a horn keeper near the portal. If a black pony named vaas comes, blow the horn. Attack and dismember on sight."

Kazas walked away after giving his orders. He suddenly started coughing up blood, while no one around was around to notice. " dammit.... So much life energy lost.... God... Can't let the others know...." He looked at the head of fiddlesticks on his belt. " you know what.... You're a bad influence. I don't even want to present your head as tribute to empoeror doel......"

With this, he took the head, and started to burn it. When it was nothing but ash, he returned home to the others, and helped his wife cook.

Ooc: ( this is your chance. Anything that you want to ask about the empire, Kazas, the civil war, or anything else, speak now. The griffons will talk to you accordingly :) )

Diego stepped thru the portal, and found himself in a strange house. A griffon's house, he thought instinctively; it was so different to a pony's house, yet it was comfortable. Diego hadn't stayed inside a house for many long months, even years; instead, he'd slept rough, cloaking himself in protection so that he could sleep undisturbed. Yet the mission had brought back to him what he had missed, in other words, companionship of a kind, even the companionship of those who despised chaos magic.

He saw a female griffon who he took to be Kaza's wife but stood aside, driven by force of habit. He looked about for Kazas, wondering what to do; he wasn't overly good at socialising. He hoped that this portal would stay open, as he didn't fancy his chances of getting back down again. Despite his newly gifted wings, he did not want to fly and had already decided that his hooves would, for the most part, stay firmly upon the ground. He could not suppress however a longing to see Starfall again, and to finally meet the daughter they had had together.

Kazas heard someone enter his house. " coming! I'll be right there!" Starfall and glory followed Kazas to the main dining room. What he saw amazed him. Wings... A horn... Diego. " alicorn royalty! Royalty protocol enacted. Present arms!" The 3 griffons, rem, Dias, and syuveil raised their swords. " bow!" Kazas walked to the front of the three griffons, and kneeled along with them. Kazas spoke " in accordance to griffon law, royalty of other countries must be treated with utmost importance! The griffon empire is fully open to you henceforth!"

Kazas arose, along with the other three. " so you've become an alicorn? Splendid. That's instantaneous respect in the empire. Besides... Everyone in my village has been dying to meet you... Especially two others. I present to you, glory and starfall. You're long lost family awaits you."

Starfall and glory were right there, in front of Diego. Kazas could tell he was dumbstruck. He shoved Diego toward his family. " well go on! The three of you have waited so long for this moment! Do it, friend. You've more than earned the right to royalty and your family!"

With this, Kazas snuck out the front. He started coughing perfusely, blood coming out of his mouth. " no.... Not now.... Why...? Dammit! I can't die...." With this, Kazas sat against the wall, holding his side.

Raze was intrigued by this portal to Kazas's hometown.

"Hmmm... I wonder what it looks like..." He stepped inside, when he arrived, he saw a bunch of giant, hollowed trees, and also realized he was on top of a mountain. While it was night, the view was breathtaking, the moon shining in the distance.

"Holy hell," Raze said. "This is nice..."

"Aggh! Raze, my man, help! I'm afraid of heights..."

Looking back, he saw R grasping the mountain's edge, desperately trying to hold on with all his life.

"Jeez; hold on!" He helped R to his feet. "You're a spirit or something, right? Why don't you try and teleport or whatever?"

R looked at him. "Oh yeah... He saw Raze get a bit annoyed at this. "Look, I panicked, okay? Sorry... Hey who the hell's that?"

Raze looked up, and saw 30 griffons approach him. When they arrived, they grabbed his hoof.

"You're coming with us." One of them said

Raze was surprised. "What? Why?!"

"We were told to capture a black pony on sight if he came here."

"But I'm black with silver stripes! See?" He held up his hoof.

The griffon paused for a bit, then turned to the group.

"Did he mention anything about stripes?" he said to the rest if the griffons.

"I don't think so..." one of them said.

Kazas heard the commotion and walked slowly toward the group. " make way! Is he here? Move, now!" The crowd spread apart. There, he saw raze. " sorry people... Forgot to mention that the pony in question DIDN'T have stripes... My bad." Kazas said with a laugh. He walked towards raze. " sorry about that... They are on orders to decimate vaas if he comes here. While I did revive him, he's not allowed here, not since threatening Diego and I's families and trying to decimate the empire. These are the Seles guard, the local guardians of the people. Brave bunch... Strong, agile, deadly. Especially with spears. Anyways, I'll take you to my homestead. Walk with me. As for the rest of you, stay ever vigilant! Vaas redhoof is to be captured on sight If he comes through! If he does not comply, slay him where he stands. He's forbidden from our soil, and is to be considerd an enemy of the state! Use all caution in pursuit. He's crafty!" And with this, Kazas gently nudged raze in the direction of his house.

" again, forgive me. That could've * hacking cough * been bloody... Sorry but ever since the last confrontation with him... I expended to much energy and my body is having a hard time dealing with simorgh's power. If I fight him again.... I'm going to lose in this condition. There's no doubt about that. If death comes.... My only regret would be leaving my wife... My children... My friends... And the rest.... But that's not important right now. Up ahead is my home. We are having dinner and I want you to come... I'm going to take a portion to white rose later..., its unfair that she has to stay there and I feel like shit for it."

Kazas and raze arrived at the door of the house. " please don't mention my condition... My wife will be worried. Besides, Diego is getting reunited with his family. Lets go watch a happy Moment and forget violence for a second. One more thing... DON'T. STEP. ON. THE. EGGS.

Starfall was standing there, along with Glory as Diego walked towards them. He was feeling incredibly embarrassed at the show that the griffons had put on for him... royalty? There was no way that he could have been elevated to royalty. Surely nopony back home would ever accept that? Oh well, he'd have to wait and see if he ever did get back. He looked at Starfall, suddenly feeling nervous. He wanted to hug her, but hung back, unsure. Starfall sorted the situation out by crossing over to Diego and hugging him tightly.

"I've missed you so much," she said, tears falling freely. "I'm so sorry I left you that night, but I was so afraid! I thought that the mob would kill our foal and I had no choice but to put her first, above everything else, even my feelings for you!"

Diego returned the hug, feeling a lot better. "I understand completely," he replied. "A mob that would confront us in our home would have stopped at nothing, and of course you couldn't risk that. And this is Glory?"

Glory shyly stepped forward. Diego gave her a hug. "So beautiful," he murmured. "And even now, so powerful. You've brought her up well."

Starfall smiled. "One day perhaps," she said. "We could be reunited and live together again. Maybe once everything is alright in Equestria once more."

White Darkness watched as Diego hugged his family. Several things came to his mind as he overheard your conversation. He walked up to them. "Hello there, Diego. This must be your wife and your kid that you keep talking about." He inclined his head in respect. "You know, I might be able to set you up with a quiet life after all of this is over. I have wonderful ties with the Inquisition, and I'm sure that High Inquisitor Karma wouldn't even blink an eye at finding one of the heroes of Equestria a home in a small village somewhere to raise his kid in peace."

The Jester stuck his head out of Kazas's home. "Don't tempt him, Darkness. Who knows, he might still want to adventure."

White Rose drew back after hearing Fiddlesticks in Vaas's voice. She initially thought that she was hearing things, but...

This will not be the last time that events will happen.

You mean that Fiddlesticks or whatever the demon's true name is isn't gone from him?

Of course not. Did you seriously expect anything otherwise?

... No, I guess. We'll have to watch him, then. This just makes this more and more complicated.

"I might take you up on that offer, Darkness," Diego replied. "Of course, once Glory is a little older, Starfall and I might come back to the griffon kingdom to visit. We won't have to give up adventuring; cept next time when I go, perhaps Starfall will come with me."

The pale blue pegasus mare nodded her head, firmly. "I may not look like much," she said. "But I most certainly know how to fight and protect myself. As soon as it was possible, I asked the griffons here to train me. When they protested, I said that I certainly must be able to protect my foal, seeing as due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to have Glory's father here to protect us. So I learned to fight, and also to defend. Glory is quite proficient in chaos magic, even at her young age; it was the same for Diego, which was why other ponies turned against him. They never could understand that chaos magic isn't necessarily evil; it depends on the one who wields it as to whether it's good or bad. The same thing goes for everypony, I suppose."

White Darkness nodded, lost in his thoughts. "Of course. Forgive me for my earlier paranoia of you, Diego. I forgot that not all chaos belongs to... the other side."

The Jester grinned. "You mean like daemons. Of course, I never thought at all that you were in league with them."

Darkness glared at him. "Do you wish to insult him by being sarcastic?"

"Of course not. What do you mean, lad?"

"Nothing. Nevermind. Go back inside and continue to enchant the girls with your tales and alcohol."

His grin became bigger. "I wasn't doin' that, laddie, but if you want me to, I certainly can..."

"No. Remember, this is a dinner and, possibly, a sleepover. this is not a vacation."

"You certainly aren't fun. You're almost as dull as Rose."

"Well, since she isn't here, I do need to take charge. Hey, has anyone seen Shadow lately?"

Shadow Seer stepped out from the house. "Here I am."

"And what are you doing?"

She shrugged. "I'm going to go find a flowery field or something like that until dinnertime. Focusing my mind. Recovering from earlier events. All of that."

As she walked out, Jester shook his head and took a swig from his bottle of whiskey. "Gosh, she's drab. Why am I the only fun one on my entire team?"

Raze smiled a bit. "I got it, I won't step on them. Oh, uh, as for White... I'll take it to her. You need to stay with your family for as long as you can anyway."

He saw Kazas coughing blood, and got a bit nervous. "You sure it ain't the plague? Cuz that's one of the symptoms... nevermind."

Raze stepped inside the house, and saw that most of the group was already there. Raze gave a silent nod to all of them, and set his equipment in front of the door. Then he saw Kazas's wife, Taya, to whom he smiled and said, "Hello. Uh, thanks for letting us stay here for a bit..."

He then took a seat at the dining table, and then fell into deep thought.

So now it's Vaas and Kaz that are at war, huh... Jeez, you think that guy would learn his lesson after two fights, but man...

He's a stubborn one, don't ya think? R spoke to Raze inside his thoughts, without revealing himself to him.

Yeah, but I guess he's stubborn with a reason...

But look at 'im now! Wielding two swords like he thinks he's a god or somethin...

That little battle/exorcism must have given his weapon a new form... and that demon...

Seriously, what kind of shit for a name is 'Fiddlesticks' anyway? Who the hell gives a name like that to a demon anyway?

I don't think you should be mocking him, R.

Like I care. He'll just whoop your ass anyway...

Hey!

What? It's true...

Kazas went into the kitchen and helped his wife cook dinner. Since the ponies were largely herbivores, he and his wife deicided to use mainly organic foods, with meat portions for the griffons. Kazas hoped that they wouldn't look at his race with disgust. Griffons were, after all, birds of prey. They needed their protein.

30 minutes later

-----------------------------------------------

Kazas and taya came out of the kitchen with two plates in each hand, and would bring the rest out real soon. For the ponies, they deicided on the delicious erga berries with soup and a small portion of squirrel meat, fresh from the market. For the griffons, it was diffrent. Very few berries with a lot of meat from boars that were hunted and brought back from the forests below. " I hope it's to everyone's liking. My wife and I worked hard on it. If you want more meat, we'll get you some." Kazas and taya made several trips to the kitchen, bringing back everyone's plate. Taya took a seat across from Terminan and Lucretia, Kazas's mother and father. Kazas took a seat beside his wife. " Bon appetite! Eat all you wish!" With this, the dinner comenced.

Terminan, kazas's father, spoke aloud. " son, I received a letter from empoeror doel earlier. It's regarding the cloud of plague. He knows it was dispersed by glory, but is concerned and is going to send more unicorn mages to Seles to help with barriers."

The other ponies looked surprised to hear about other ponies in the empire. Terminan explained. " ah yes. You seemed surprised to find more of your kind here. You see, when the plague hit equestria, many fled from your country and sought amnesty here, and in the Minotaur kingdom. You don't see many around Seles since its so high in the mountains, but you'll see more eventually... Especially in the royal capital of Zenebatos. They intergrated very fast within our society and were granted all rights as citizens a few weeks after arrival. Speaking of the capital... Kazas, you and I must travel to Zenebatos so you can file a report on your findings. Celestia, Luna, and Cadance have all requested aid. We need your report to know how much military and medical aid that is needed. any information you have gathered must be given."

" very well... Tomorrow we set out. Say, why don't you all stay the night, it's getting late, and it's better than what we have had. A little peace of mind can be had here for the night."

30 min. Later

______________________

Kazas and taya finished dinner early. Taya was tired and wanted to spend more time with Kazas alone, and signaled toward their bedroom. " I hate to call it a night, but this is where my wife and I head to bed. Finish up and take as long as you want. Rem, syuveil, and Dias have agreed to host for all of you. Choose who you want to go with. My wife and I can only have two guests, as we only have two spare beds."

With this, Kazas and taya entered into their bedroom. Kazas took off his armor and slipped into evening attire. Earlier, taya had brought the eggs to their room for safety. Kazas laid in bed and taya soon with him.

Taya spoke to him as she lay her head against his chest. "Kazas... I know it's only been 2 days... But I still mised you...."

Kazas answered her. " I know.... Taya.... I'm worried about something.... I need you to take the unhatched and fly to Zenebatos and stay there until this is over."

Taya looked at Kazas, surprised. " but kaz.... Why?"

" there is a very, very evil being out there.... And he's pissed that I beat him and wants revenge on everything I love.... So please.... Just take them and go. The royal guard will take you in."

Taya looked at Kazas, and understood. She got up, and gathered the eggs. Kazas opened the window to his room, so taya could fly out.

" Kazas... Promise me you will stay safe...."

" I promise."

" i love you...."

" I love you too."

Taya kissed Kazas one last time before flying with their unhatched. She would be safe there, no doubt.

2 hours later

--------------------------

Taya flew into Zenebatos and was treated happily by the nightguard. She made her way through the giant city and was welcomed into the palace as a familiar place. She was given a room on the underground levels, reserved for family of ambassadors and royal guard. She would be safe, as thousands of guards were placed around the city, with several hundred guarding the palace. Kazas did not sleep and lie awake.... Thinking about if he'd make it or not. His condition was not plague, but rather a lack of life energy. He needed time to recover. Eventually, he fell asleep.

The Jester sighed and took another swig from his bottle. "That was a good dinner." He was sitting in the proffered bunk, chatting with Shadow. "We should do this more often."

"Yeah, when we don't have a demon running around trying to kill us."

White Darkness glared at the two of them until they fell silent, then turned over on his bunk.

"Gosh, what a grump."

"Did you honestly expect anything otherwise?"

"... Yes...?"

Shadow shook her head. "You truly are carefree."

"Why shouldn't I be? I try to enjoy my life. One wrongly placed wire, one fractured energy crystal, twitching the wrong way... and KABLOOIE!"

White Darkness threw a pillow at the Jester.

"Fine, you darn killjoy! I'll go to bed! Sheesh, why are you no fun?"

White Rose looked up as Raze stepped through the portal she had been keeping open. She was, in fact, just about to close it for the night, to reopen it in the morning. "Hello," she said. "Aren't you supposed to be sleeping over there or something?"

Nope. He's bringing you food. Why are you so down tonight? Is it because of the HOME-cooked me-mmph!

Raze suddenly got the image of Ixkom with a pair of dirty socks in his mouth, trying desperately to get them out.

Mmph mmph mmph! Mmph!

"Well, Ix's definitely right. I did bring you food." Raze set the plate down in front of White, then took a seat. "I didn't think it was right to have you go without dinner tonight. Also, I couldn't really sleep anyway. There's too much going on right now in my mind; so many things I've been thinking about." He sighed a bit. "Kaz losing it, Vaas releasing some evil entity for the second time in a row, the mission... I'm seriously doubting that we'll actually make it to this village with all our limbs and organs intact, with all this BS going on in our group. I've been doubting it for a while, actually."

He looked at White. "Which reminds me... I saw Kaz hacking and coughing blood a couple hours back. I don't know if it was the plague or whatever, but we should really keep an eye on him and his condition."

He stretched his hooves. "So..." he looked around. "How have you been holding up here? And what happened to Vaas? Cuz Kaz wants him dead, and doesn't want him anywhere near his village. And I'm pretty sure that goes the same way for Vaas as well..."

Diego went to stay the night with Starfall and Glory, in their home which was next door to where Kazas lived. He didn't mean to let them out of his sight for the short time that they were there. Starfall was glad to have Diego with her, however she knew that the parting would come soon out of necessity but was determined to be brave about it. After all, it could never be as bad as the last time, when she was forced to leave him. She liked living in the griffon kingdom, but still, she longed to be in Equestria again. She would be happy enough to take up the offer given to Diego about finding him a place to live in Equestria, tho she would most certainly keep this home on, to visit at times the griffons who had been so kind to her.

Starfall had been amazed to see that Diego had ascended to alicornhood, but didn't go overboard about it to him. She could tell that he was embarrassed about the attention and didn't want her to do so. She smiled to herself; she could see that he was uneasy about having wings, and decided that one day, she would have to teach him how to fly.

"Vaas is meditating in the forest. I figured guarding the portal was better than trying to invade his privacy." She shook her head. "This isn't over. When Vaas put the spirits back in his body... something got in. A part of this 'Fiddlesticks's' essence probably. It's showing more and more signs of being a daemon, but I've seen mere spirits do all of this. Don't let Kazas know... I need to get closer to the portal before I know for sure. A daemon will get stronger. A spirit will start panicking."

"If Vaas is coughing up blood... that could be a sign for many things, although the plague is on the list. Honestly, White Darkness knows more about it than I do. Maybe you should ask him." She sighed and put the plate on the lap, slowly eating the meal between words. "And in case your wondering... I've been thinking along the same lines. All the corruption that's been going on..." She shook her head and swallowed. "All that we can do in this case is think, wait, and hope we get lucky enough to deal with all of this before it gets to everyone's head... I really don't want to see- or be part of- a magical bombardment from the Inquisition."

"I understand." Raze leaned in a bit closer to White. "I might just stay here for the night anyway. Kaz's home is a bit too crowded over there for my tastes, and I don't feel all that comfortable about staying other people's houses. Besides, there's something I need to clear out with Vaas first. I gotta discuss things with him, make sure that he's good with the group, Kaz and me included, since, you know, we're pretty much the entire root of his problems..."

He looked up at the sky. "I just don't want there to be any more drama between the group, otherwise we'll never get shit done. If Vaas has to keep battling with us all the damn time, then that necromancer might as well come up to us and kill us now, you know?"

He sighed. "Look, I better find Vaas and get this conversation over with. I just hope he's in the mood to talk with me, and that this 'Fiddlesitcks' character is well under control." He put a hoof to White's face, then stood up. "I'll be back soon."

He walked over to the edge of camp, where he saw Vaas camly meditating, as if the past events never even happened. To his left, Raze saw Vaas's new weapon: two wicked blades, almost similar to his own.

That's not good,Raze thought. He approached Vaas.

"Hey. I need to discuss a few things, if that's alright with you..."
