Poser site. Not real.

I know extreemists from all over the political spectrum. NONE of them are as bad as this.

No. This is pretend. Fake.

There are a number of Poser sites out there.

One claims to be an African American site, but its really run by racists.

There are fake Democrat sites run by the GOP and fake GOP sites run by Democrats.

Bottom line: Don't believe everything you read.

I'm pretty sure it's meant to be satire, but it's not funny in the slightest. Looking at some of the other claims the site makes (and the title of the site itself), they portray one of the more convincing imitations of "Christian" (emphasis on the quotation marks) extremists.

Either that, or they're actually being serious, in which case... there are no words...

This might sound awful, but it's what I think. The bible literally can be used to back up any point of view on any subject. You can find sections pro whatever outlook you have, as well as con. In my mind this makes the entire book contrary to the point of being absolutely worthless.

That has to do more with sloppy hermeneutics and exegesis than the Bible being at fault.

Anyhow, a troll is a troll: the whole site looks like a dedicated satire of right-wing Christianity in the United States. When I read the part highlighting Lauren Faust's last name, I went, "Yep. A troll site."

For example: http://shelleytherepublican.com/category/22nd-amendment

Posted on January 6th, 2009 (when Bush was still technically president), the repeal of the 22nd Amendment wouldn't mean squat since Obama had already been elected and the votes finalized. It's pretty much silliness; a send up of Republicans who despise President Obama and favor the War on Terror, in this case.

In short, don't take it seriously; take it as satire.

With that logic, every children's show that uses animals as main characters is satanic or sinful. FAIL.

Indeed. I also find it funny that they said that Veggie Tales was a much better cartoon for children even though it stars talking vegetables instead of real men and women... are we not above the vegetables, then, if we are above the beasts? lol

The comment about socialism is definitely untrue. Rarity owns her own business, as does the Apple family. Those are prime examples of capitalism within the show. Twilight Sparkle is Princess Celestia's student. She doesn't need a job because as Princess Celestia's private student, the princess gives her what she needs so that she may study. Her exceptional talent earned her free tuition, and she continues to work hard to continue mastering magic and be the best unicorn she can be. That is also something that is extremely admirable among conservatives. Pinkie Pie works with Mr. and Mrs. Cake, who also own their own business. More capitalism. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash we are unsure of, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they're socialist. It just means that their way of life hasn't been delved into as deeply (or as obviously) as the other 4's.

Also God doesn't directly control the weather... I mean He could directly influence it if He so desired, but God created precipitation and warm fronts and cold fronts and all that other fun meteorology stuff to determine the weather. He doesn't just decide that Monday, February 6, 2012, in Detroit Michigan, that He's going to make it sunny with a high of 42 degrees outside. That's nature's job. Believing in God does not make science untrue, and I wish that people would just stop believing in that.

Anyways... I voted religious nutjob, but after reading the comments I'm gonna change my mind and say that this person is a huge troll trying to make fun of true religious nutjobs and give Christianity a bad name. Disgusting.

These people said it better than myself:

I honestly can’t tell if you actually feel like this or if you’re trolling.

If your serious, then I am honestly on some levels disgusted. It is people like you who makes Christians look like crazy foolish extremists. This is simply ridiculous, and it leads to so many people scoffing at Christians, which hurts since I am one myself. This is a wonderful cartoon, enjoyable for all ages, that teaches so many lessons, not just in friendship, love, or tolerance.

However, judging from the extremism of this article, and judging by your comments, you’re obviously trolling. Please stop giving people like me a bad name and making us out to be nut-jobs. This article is a waste of time and space. Its painfully obvious you’re trying to pull as many pathetic reasons for satanic or antichrist references, going to such sad extremes it makes me believe no human being could be seriously like stupid.

Anyhow, anyone reading my comment, please disregard the entire article above me. Its simply an internet troll spouting off nonsense to attempt to spark some sort of religious debate or get people angry. I recommend to ignore idioticness like this and move on with your life and internet-browsing. Please don’t get the wrong idea about religious people, Christians, and the like from this. I’m ashamed someone would write this to troll, let alone the vague chances of someone actually believing this nonsense. So I ask- beg- those reading this, ignore the parisprite. Its not worth your time. It isn’t even worth mine, but I’m writing this in hopes that anyone else who unfortunately stumbles across this article will read this and save themselves the time and effort they would have to use in order to respond to such blatant trolling.

That what I would like to say! Hope everyone passes this article right by, and have a great day! :)

So… let me get it straight:

This show that teaches kids to be nice to people around them, help those in need, not be greedy, be honest, encourage them to be creative and try to find what they’re good at… is EVIL?!

I’m sorry, but I can’t see anything evil about this show, or the people that produce it, or the fans of said show.

I believe if you were willing to be a good christhian, you should be doing something for society, like… helping the poor people, helping sick people, going to one of those conflict areas in Africa to help taking care of the sick, and those hurt in the conflicts… ANYTHING else other than sitting in front of the computer and writting about a TV show you don’t like.

If you don’t like it, why are you even bothering in taking the time to write bad things about it? JUST DON’T LOOK AT IT.

Damn, people nowadays can’t see good in anything anymore…

Oh, and for the record, I'm Catholic, so I speak of God as if He exists. I apologize if that makes people feel uncomfortable but that's just the way I roll. It is not my intention to shove anything down anyone's throats.

This reminds of that article about Skyrim teaching children about witchcraft & how to perform gay sexual acts.

Their trolling is so obvious yet people fall for them so easily.

It kind of makes me want to punch a kitten

Well Skyrim isn't for targeted for children anyways... why bother blogging about it?

Also, this comment makes me very, very happy.

Hi there. I am a dyed-in-the-wool Christian. My family has been Christian as far back as I can trace. I’ve been an altar server for over a decade, and I have received a medal from the local Bishop as reward for services rendered to the church.

And even I can see that My Little Pony is a whole heck of a lot better than you are making it out to be.

You compare MLP to Veggie Tales? Alright, let’s examine that for a moment. In saying that, you are in effect saying that it is better to show children media implying that their vegetables have minds and souls than it is to show them a clearly escapist piece of entertainment based (loosely) on ponies? Real world ponies at least already have faces and are capable of movement and sound. Having a show with a vegetable that has eyes and can talk is a lot stranger than anthropomorphizing another mammal.

Second, as you seem to have noticed, the ponies in the show hardly look anything like real ponies. No child who has ever so much as seen a picture of a real pony is going to think that that’s how they are in real life. The cast of Veggietales though? Those look like someone took vegetables and animated eyes on to them. They are a whole lot closer to what they are based off than the ponies are.

Also, you might not be aware of this, but Veggietales actually has something of a niche market. I know of plenty of people who actually avoid it for its overtly religious themes. As such, it can have all the good intent in the world, but it’s still not being watched by the people who really need to be learning the lessons its trying to teach.

My Little Pony avoids this problem. The lessons that it teaches are universally good ones (be loyal, be honest, be kind, etc) but because they aren’t draped in religious propaganda the show winds up being watched by people who don’t have a religious foundation. These are the people who grew up without the teachings of Christ. While it may not be converting them to Christianity, it’s certainly helping multitudes to become better people. These are the people who actually need the help. Children who are watching Veggietales are generally being shown it by their parents, meaning that their parents are already religious and even without the show will work to instill the same values in their children. The grown men taking lessons from My Little Pony don’t have that kind of advantage. This is helping the people who need it, while not putting them on the defensive.

Also, I think you’ve missed a few things. Applejack is blatantly capitalist, for starters. This is clear from as early as episode three, where she talks about wanting to go to the Grand Galloping Gala “To sell Apples to help support the farm”. We see coins change hands in a transaction in the episode Call of the Cutie, and in the final episode of season one Applejack is indeed trying to sell her produce at the Gala. They gloss over the financial transactions because they aren’t interesting, but they show enough to imply that there is unquestionably money changing hands.

I think the way to look at the show isn’t as something that is trying to put a new hat on an old parable, as Veggietales did. My Little Pony communicates the same values, but with new stories. They are, in effect, a new set of parables for the modern age.

I will agree that the show does not push Christianity directly. It does encourage viewers to be better people though, and I’m not sure about your past experiences but I have generally had more luck converting people to Christianity if they already share many of the values.

The show may not do the entire job for you, but it will make people much more receptive to the message you’re trying to bring to them.

It’s all too easy to see modern media with a cynical eye, looking for the things we don’t want to see. I know that you’re better than that though, and I think that if you were to give this show another chance, you might be surprised.

I mean heck, the start of season two is effectively the main six characters fighting off the devil. They may not be Christ, but it still is telling viewers that in the face of harsh adversity, they need to stay together and have faith, and they will overcome the devil.

It is OBVIOUSLY a satire. lol.

I dunno if its generally everyone or just the people in this forums who seem to be just looking for some "religious nutjob" to hate. I mean, I wont even call you gullible because if this wasn't a parody of religious people you would notice, but since its about religion HATE HATE HATE HATE. come on people, I MEAN COME ON!

after seeing the "murder" article i'll admit it is obvious this is a troll, however even then i have known people, talked to them face to face, who would preach these messages as sure as fire is hot that it's the ordained will of god to bring down MLP, and pretty much anything else secular that is good. this guy is a prime example of anti-religious nutjobs (coin has two sides) but there really are people gullible and stupid enough to buy this steaming pile and consider it a bargain.

The show is created by a young woman named Lauren Faust – if that names seems familiar to you it should be: According to legend, Faust was the name of the person who sold his soul to the devil in return for great wealth and power. It’s highly probable that Satan has chosen Ms Faust to be his modern-day emissary of evil. The signs are clear.

Any child viewing this episode might conclude that our savior died so that you can have a tatoo on your your butt!

I hate when people write stuff like this. Plus its even worse when religion is put into it. Who ever wrote this needs to wake up and realise that the new MLP is a great show. I have seen a lot worse shows than MLP..

"The show presents a biblically incorrect cosmology. Starting with the very first episode it claims that the sun and the moon’s motion is caused by a pair of winged unicorns. This is wrong as the Bible states that the motion of the planets is due to God’s will alone."

lolwut?

Come on people :). I'll have to agree with Eenohay here. There is no way you could think that article is serious.

I mean, just read this part...

The depiction of ponies in this series is un-biblical. According to the Bible (Gen 1:26) man has been given dominion over all beasts (including ponies), and thus the portrayal of these worker-animals as talking intelligent creatures with their own will and personality is clearly in contradiction to God’s teaching.

... and tell me she means it.

It's obviously a joke on Christianity. You shouldn't get too upset over a joke ;)

Personally I think it was pretty witty, and well made. Not overly funny, but it put a smile on my face.
