I'd like to remove this band from the list. Sure, they're not the best, but their music is fun to listen to. At least until "The Subliminal Verses" (FIGHT ME IF YOU DO IN FACT LIKE IT).

I like The Subliminal Verses, it's my favorite Slipknot album. The Blister Exists, Three Nil, Opium of the People, Vermilion, Pulse of the Maggots, and The Nameless are all awesome songs in my opinion.

 

Iowa would be my next favorite album, followed by their self-titled. I don't care for All Hope Is Gone, the songs seem really bland to me.

Some artists and bands simply fail in every aspect there is and fail to make anything about their music worth listening to. It's these hacks with no talent whatsoever

 

Example: Perhaps someone like Devin Townsend isn't someone you'd listen to, but you have to admit, he can play a wide array of instruments and genres. He got talent

 

Now take someone like Soulja Boy Tell 'Em. He can' "rap" for shit, his lyrics are inhumanly emotionless, there is no creativity in his music or anything indicating that he puts effort into it or that he have some sort of talent

 

There are objective standpoints when judging whether an artist is good or not

Most people on the Internet who complain about Justin Bieber and Nickelback are annoying. You don't have to like them, but you don't have to go on and on about it either.

"Real music" is a misleading term. All music is real music, because music itself is just a series of noises after all.

There is no such thing as "real metal." It's either metal or it isn't.

People take genres too seriously.

People take electronic music for granted, saying it's "easy to make," forgetting that people actually need composition, production, and synthesis skills to make it.

People have the same attitude towards metal. It needs to stop.

I see your point, but I personally dislike the idea of having to conform, as an artist, to the conventions associated with a certain genre. I also don't like when people think that because you like one genre, you can't enjoy another.

Roots is considered as a Nu Metal album, and Rage Against the Machine is pretty obvious too, considering that they're Rap/Metal and that's basically what Nu Metal is like.

As I said, there are objective standpoints when judging whether music is good or not, just like any form of media. You might like Soulja Boy, but if you were to listen to his music and carefully criticize his music, you'll notice that his music is bad from an objective angle (shitty lyrics, uninspired instrumentals with no efforts, annoying samples etc...)
