My Thoughts Are Silent. It's been a long time since I watched a road movie. This one hard a weird premise, some funny, awkward and sad moments, and a great soundtrack.

Casino (1995) - A movie that I actually prefer yo to Martin Scorsese's other gangster flick, Goodfellas. It's larger in scale, it's more immersive, and it's more historically accurate. 9 out of 10.

That film has some of my favorite Joe Pesci moments. Always a treat to see him angry and threaten people with violence on film.

I rewatched Arrival after buying it on Blu-ray. Honestly one of my favorite Sci-fi movies of all time, other than Interstellar.

3:10 to Yuma (2007) - Probably one of the best remakes of a western I've ever seen (behind the 2010 True Grit remake).

" Scoobs! "  9/10 It's a good movie and a great homage to the classic Scooby Doo! I didn't watch the trailer so it was surprising to see they added Dick Dastardly and Muttley to the movie. What a bonus!

Last movie I watched was Stargate (1994), usually watch a bit of Stargate SG1 and Atlantis from time to time but rarely watch the original movie so was refreshing when seeing it again after a while.

Dirty Harry.

A great movie and groundbreaker for that kind of crime drama. Andy Robinson created the template for psycho creeps and Lalo Schifrin rendered one of the best and most unusual scores ever. Aside from a few gratuitous directorial touches, this film is a classic of its kind.

Raising Arizona and The Faculty.

 

 

• Raising Arizona, although far from the best of the Coen brothers' films, is a solid purely entertaining film. That isn't to also say there's philosophy and heart to the film either, because even if the former isn't too obvious, both are there. Nicholas Cage and Holly Hunter both deliver great comical performances, but honestly for me John Goodman's supporting role in this movie really stole the show at times. Honestly a shame that Cage couldn't be in future Coen films, because he fits them just as well as John Goodman does. The arc of the film doesn't have much to read into, but it contributes to the setup of the comedic performances. 9/10.

• The Faculty is pure cheesy 90's horror B-Movie goodness. The scores for this film seem to just reflect that people don't seem to understand that it's not a film that takes itself very seriously. The teachers and students both are quite obviously caricatures designed to amplify this sort of B-Movie atmosphere and RT just says it's a bad horror movie, when it's not necessarily bad. There's nothing awfully stand-out about it though aside from a sort of anti-War on Drugs message that I'm not sure is intentional. The lack of depth to the characters doesn't really subtract much from this movie, but it does suffer from its setting a bit even if it doesn't necessarily work against the film. 7.5/10.

The Faculty is immensely underrated.
