Frostbite let out a hefty sigh once again, the idea of socialising never did please her, but that didn't stop her from at least trying to get to know somepony at times, even if she wasn't happy about it. Might as well, right? she thought.

"If that was an offer to join you, I suppose there's no harm in finding where things are together. We're going to be seeing a lot more of each other on this journey, so we may as well start off on the right hoof, hmm?" She replied after a moment of thought, followed by an uncomfortable shuffle.

Once Short Fuse had gotten inside his room, he was already greeted by somepony else in the room.

"Yep, that's me. Simple guessing would say you're Nightfall. I guess it's all right to meet you.", he replied, showing no emotion inside his tone. He walked towards his bunk, seeing that Nightfall had taken the top bunk. Good. He hates the top bunk...

"So, Nightfall. I'll warn you. I don't get sentimental, I don't get happy or any kind of that crazy crap. I'm serious about everything I do. Got it? And as long as you don't get on my bad side, got it?"

"Got it."

He rolled out of his bunk and fluttered down to the ground.

"See you at the bridge."

He walked out of the room, and then chuckled a little. He couldn't believe he was staying in a room with someone who was emotionless. He had semi-hoped for someone with atleast a couple of emotions.

Short Fuse had unzipped his carry-on bag, getting out a small pill case. They were different types of ibuprofen, specifically for his medicine. He looked around the room a little, observing his surroundings. He placed the pill case on a small table near him, and walked out into the hall.

Giant proceeded to the bridge--puncutality being the mark of a responsible protection racket, or soldier, if he insisted on claiming this private contracting nonsense was noble--well, semi-private, given how many public research grants were probably being pumped into this thing. He had no doubt the Princesses would have been just charmed by this kind of project.

Once the sliding doors to the bridge opened, Giant proceeded with his eyes closed along the central corridor, bumping into only one pony as he walked confidently along the aisle. He followed the voice of Ocean Wind's voice until, as she stopped talking into an intercom, he came to a rest in front of her, looking down at the approximate level where her head would be.

Even without looking, Giant found himself becoming less confident as he absorbed the demeanor of his expedition leader. Not shy, necessarily....demure might be closer to the mark, maybe. Reserved. He was used to commanding officers with a little more authority behind their voice. He could decipher the accent without trouble--he'd had a training outfit from Trottingham in the desert strike zone once--and she was obviously very intelligent, thank Celestia for that much. She'd been persuasive enough when she'd hired him--maybe a little too persuasive, come to think of it as he remembered his surroundings---but he was still unsettled by her vague undisclosed medical issues combined with the fact that she was just so........
....studious. Sgt. Lemming didn't know a lot of great leaders who were remembered as 'studious'.

He cleared his throat. "Miss Wind. I reviewed the protection systems on my way here. As of 1400 hours we are ready for launch. On my side, anyway." He went over a ticklist in his head. "Bulkheads passed the safety inspection, all torpedoes are locked in standby bays. I had them reload each one straight off the manual, just to be sure." The checklist abruptly ran its course. She didn't need to know about the reserve combat supplies inventory, or such mundane details as calibrations...check, check...
...and sigh. He just wished the checklist was a little longer. "And that's about all there is to it. Miss Wind," he started a little hesitantly. "If I have permission to speak freely--and I know I'm repeating myself--I'm still not entirely sure how your budget was put together. There are three chief security officers. Three. My original recommendations called for ten, as matter of providing cursory safety--" He paused, wondering what words would be tactful to use--the fact that if he was outfitting a sub this size for even the most routine expedition in deep seas he would have outfitted it with at least three times as many explosives, not to mention more sonic deterrent devices, or the fact that he couldn't imagine going down underarmed into the pitch-black, swirling ocean, whose depths were like the graveyard of time itself from whose sunken vaults nothing and nopony returned....

Shake it off. "If I might ask once again," he finished, still not opening his eyes, "on what faith are you so confident that this operation is going to go smoothly?"

Cascade finished scribbling her notes on the coastal fish just in time to hear the announcement that the ship would be deporting soon. Well, that was convenient  She set her quill down, and trotted out of her room contentedly. As she walked out, a dark blue colt trotted out of a room a few doors down, and not immediately noticing anything especially different about him, trotted past him towards the bridge, and said, "Hey," mildly amicably. Her flippers, in contradiction to her tone, were plastered self-consciously once again to her sides.

He kept going, guessing that she was as well. What she was here for would be answered later. First, he'd need to introduce- he mentally facehoof as he had forgotten to introduce himself.

Ocean turned away from the window to address the colt who had just approached her... listened to everything he said and couldn't help but chuckle. "You make it sound as if we're going into war. This is an expedition, not a battle. And I never said anything about the operation going smoothly...that's impossible when going on large expeditions like this. There will be bumps in the road, but I trust everything should be going alright. Now where is the rest of the expedition crew...I wish they would get here already. And just for my peace of mind...you did check the escape pods...correct ?" She said, looking passed Sgt. Lemming at the large doors leading into the bridge for a moment before looking back at him.

Ah, the bridge. Took a while but you found it. Star Keeper trotted onto the rather precariously placed balcony with a rather cautious step. His mind seemed to be permanently fixed on the drop bellow rather than the path ahead and those standing close to him. After daring to look up he did have to acknowledge the spender of the vessel, but then he quickly cast his head back down as he remembered the height at which he stood. He probably looked like a cat hanging over water.

@,

(OOC: I do. I had a char. at the HnH party, remember? I saw Ocean in action. I just assumed characters would have seen you packing medicine, ponies might whisper now and again, that sort of thing. But none actually know what's going on.)

"Three times, Miss Wind. I also wrote up a revised emergency drill plan to make sure the crew is capable of boarding life pods to capacity. Just let me know if you want me to take it up to the intercom booth and have them run it." He felt for the railing with his hooves, moving to the side to make himself a little less than a nuisance.

You make it sound like we're going into battle. Trotting-straight, he did. Do you KNOW what kind of things are supposed to live in Equestria's seas? he wanted to say. We are not safe down here. We are not even remotely safe! I bet everything in here want to eat us!

His fears were screaming again. Giant took a deep breath of pure, dry, carbon-filtered air. He didn't say any of those things. Instead, he merely said, "It's my job to plan for things going wrong, miss. That's all."

Speaking of which, he really ought to call up those other two scurity cheifs and give them a good interrogating. Frankly, he was being a little sloppy in not having gotten to that beforehoof. He needed to know what he was working with.

@@The-Master,

Giant turned to get off the bridge, tickling a thought about sending for them...and opened his eyes as he turned for the rear exit and caught a glimpse of the absolutely enormous screen panels.

Water. Water everywhere.

Ponies with shaved manes and berets screamed in Giant's mind. He tripped over the perfeclty flat walkway and found himself with all four limbs plastered near the side of the metal. His hooves were bumping those of a pegasus colt who looked like a cat hung over a bridge to dry.

"I'm not the only one who doesn't appreciate the nice view?" he wheezed.

Looking a little weary of the seeming sudden change in Lila's attitude, Frostbite looked down at her own hooves, radiating a slight mist as they where she couldn't help but chuckle. "I...that's alright..." she said with a more relaxed tone as she gestured her head down to her hooves. "The names Arctic, but...i'd prefer to be called Frostbite, if it's all the same to you."

Eventually sliding her pack from her back and sliding it into the corner, there was a look of realisation on her face for a moment "Don't you think we'd be better of heading to the bridge first? We can always find the food later."

Star Keeper half panicked and clung for dear life onto the railing as he was nudged from behind. As he calmed down he saw there was no cause for immediate alarm at the new arrival. "I'm sure i'd appreciate it if they didn't stick it above a mile drop. Sorry." Star seemed to regain his composure at least, straitening himself up as to not look completely ridiculous. "Star Keeper, my names Star Keeper by the way."

Ocean watched him go.
Although she wouldn't admit it...she was a little nervous. Considering she knew quite a bit about the ocean...she was worried they would run into something.
She turned around to face the dome again as the intercom clicked on. "Everypony brace for launch. Ten...nine...eight...seven...six...five...four...three...two...One. Dive dive dive." The whole submarine shook as it was released from the ship. For the ponies in the bridge, it was an amazing sight, the water rushed up over the massive dome as they slowly sank below the surface.

"Senior Master Sargeant William Lemming Giant, formerly guardspony Will." Sarge saluted weakly from the floor, where he was not capable of adjusting his ridiculous looking position. "The drop? Colt, get your chin up! You're gotta' be able to look down if..." he realized he sounded utterly preposterous, and dipped his own chin to the cold floor. "The drop, huh? I can't imagine why nopony's bothered at how...wet it is."

Then the sub dived. Sarge bit his lip and turned green as he felt himself sliding across the walkway, and nearly sighed. However, once the shivering stopped, he found himself in the same place as before and realized that the sub had in fact remained level.

He had to talk to keep himself distracted, even though he was a little worried his late lunch--carrots cordon bleau--would come up with every other word. So he took in Star Keeper's accoutrements. "Sub crew?"

"Sub Crew and navigation. All that stuff." He managed to give a rather informal salute in return. "I guess it was another one of those 'It seemed like a fantastic idea at the time' things. Wow, this is really starting to get into my head." Star Keeper did not pride himself on being a Pegasus who despised the idea of being too high up.

"So what's with you and water? You've been on edge so far as well. I know we are getting shot through the sea in a pressurized tube while constantly being battered by the currents and outside pressure. Actually that does sound rather grim when I think about it that way." His social skills obviously weren't the greatest.

She giggled at herself after Lila had left the room, and then quickly trotted out after her, coming to a walk at her side. "So...what brings you down here then?" she asked, hoping to get a conversation going so the walk to the bridge wouldn't be too quiet.

Short Fuse had felt a bit shaky after the submarine had dived into the water, and quickly shook it off, heading back up to the bridge like he had intended.

Along the way there, he had happened to see some mare that was leaning up against the railing, looking impatient... Could that be his captain by any chance? Taking another few looks at her, sure enough it was Captain Wind. He walked up to her and saluted her.
