private Adventure to Atlantis

@,

"I don't think Atlantis asked to sink to the bottom of the ocean. And why would they want to "Off us" ? They have no reason, we've never done anything to them. And this happened thousands and thousands of years ago, so the likes of there actually being ponies down there...well, think about it, it just doesn't make sense. And if there were ponies living there, than they are probably starving..." She said, glancing over at the entrance into the bridge, seeing two more ponies walk in.

"Me? Oh, I just play with the fish and the plankton and the sharks and stuff. Sometimes I even write stuff about them down." She emitted a short giggle, then said, somewhat more seriously, "I just study the marine life, that's all. Nothing really important." She shrugged, and mashed a button that opened the heavy doors that led to the bridge.

"So a marine biologist, then. Sounds like fun."

He looked over and saw that there was already the meeting in progress; the meeting that they had been called to.

"Looks like I'll have to catch you up later, Cascade; I'm late for that meeting the captain called about."

(OOC: Well, first ever roleplay, heeere we gooo! Also, I'm assuming the crew members will have recieved some form of training before the sub launched?)

Tossing in her sleep, Feather Quill tumbled out of her bunk and woke with a loud "Oof!"  For a moment she simply lay on the cold hard floor, staring at the ground out of half-closed eyes, slowly piecing together where she was.

I'm on a submarine... She remembered. I'm a crew member on a blooming submarine that's about to go, what? 10,000 leagues under the sea at least. Why the heck did I sign up for this again?

"Chipper up Quill," Feather grunted to herself as she slowly got to her feet. "You were all for it when you signed up, and during the following weeks of training."

Sighing, Feather dragged a green waistcoat from the foot of her bunk and shoved her head through the largest hole, then one front  hoof in, then the other. It took her a full second or two to realise she had shoved both hooves through the neck hole along with her head, then another two to get the waistcoat on properly.

"Besides," she continued. "Bit late to turn back now..."

Still, Feather reflected as she grabbed her red beret, even if she could she wouldn't turn back now - already her tiredness and trepidation were giving way to excitement. She was going on a real live adventure!

"Yeah," Feather shook her head, amused and a little embarrassed at her own filly-like eagerness. "Maybe you'll get to slay a humongous sea monster..." She chuckled, albeit a little nervously - sea monsters weren't real, right? Feather cast a glance at the chest under her bunk; her great-grandfather's battlesaddle was safely tucked away inside, but it wouldn't be much use to her unless the expedition came up against an army of evil, immobile tin cans that were under five feet away.

I wonder how long it is until we dive? Feather grabbed her wristwatch from the bedside table, only to promptly drop it when she saw the time.

"Buc-I mean boogers!" She yelped. Forgetting all about the watch, she grabbed the bedroom door handle in her muzzle and yanked it open, then ran out into the dimly lit corridor without bothering to close it.

"Merde! Merde! Merde!" She muttered to herself if she ran, telling herself swearing didn't count if it was in Prench. Her hooves clattered loudly on the metal floor. Other ponies, their faces all blurring into one, cried out as Feather barged past them. As was her unofficial custom one per day, she had forgotten she could fly.

 @1_0_4_3268764 0 OK 0,

"they are probably starving..."

Feather reached the bridge just in time to hear somepony say that. She kept running, only to trip and skid painfully a few feet across the floor. She'd been up for less than ten minutes and already she was getting tired of that hard floor.

Peeking out from under the lip of her beret, Feather saw she had landed sprawled right at the hooves of two ponies who had been speaking; the dark blue one she recognised as her captain, Ocean Wind, whereas the mare with the lighter blue coat she remembered was another crew member, not that Feather had spoken to her enough to find out her name. Or maybe she'd just forgotten it?

Too sore to get up, Feather looked up at the two ponies from her position on the ground, and raised a hoof to her head in an attempt at a salute.

"Private Feather Quill reporting for duty," she groaned. "Sorry I'm late."

@@Nightfall,@@Ano170,@,

Cascade dipped her head politely and murmured a brief farewell to the colt, not realizing they shared a destination, as she trotted over to the group of ponies that were gathered in the Bridge. The pony they were huddled around, a mare the color of purest water, seemed to be the Captain, although she was not what Cascade ever pictured a captain being at all. She looked rather frail, and quite bookish. Not like the rugged sea dogs that piloted boats in the old books that inhabited the Sandstone Library in her home... Well, no matter.

In any case, Cascade found herself to be relieved that she was not the only late one. She allowed herself to drift to one side, out of the spotlight, yet near enough to hear, listening attentively.

Before Moon had a moment to reply back to Ocean, she heard the thud of another pony which had apparently ended up next to both of them.

She was a little confused at first, but then realized it was one of the ponies she had recognized from a little while back. So all she did was laugh a little and smiled.

"Moon Wave, reporting to help you onto your hooves~"

And with that, she flew over top of Feather Quill and grabbed under both of her hoofpits. In a gentle motion she picked her back up and brushed her off to make her more 'presentable.'

"In a rush, were you?"

In the meanwhile after what had happened, she turned back toward Ocean in a slightly different manner to speak again.

"I believe our discussion will have to continue on another time.. It seems like there are some late ones, so ill let you continue on~"

@@Ano170,

((I gotta say...for your first RP...that is one great first post))

Ocean glanced down at the mare who had just arrived. "Its no problem. Now, moving along." She turned around to the roll up screen and flipped through a couple more slides until they got to a picture of the cave...a little way's in. "Alright. This is...I guess we can call it a highway. This is moving from where we enter the cave, this keeps going for several miles and hopefully ends...at Atlantis. Of course, moving along the highway is going to be difficult, there will be walls, deep caverns, and quite a few other dangerous things...but that's why I have hired the best crew around. And I think that cover's everything for now. Are there any other questions before we all break for  lunch ?" She asked.

Nightfall eyed Cascade as she made her way to the group that he was going to. He was dismayed to hear that they were breaking for lunch so soon, though. He decided to hang around and ask the captain what they had covered so far. He would definitely see Cascade later, it seemed, and his mind was more on the mission than romance anyways.

Star Keeper kept to himself, and that was how he liked it. He remained on the bridge with the others but made sure that his own space was respected an maintained. Call it what you want, he just referred to it as an intact social security. While others conversed and "socialised", he pressed further into the old tomes and scrolls of the Lost City kept in his saddlebags. And as it turned out the Atlanteans weren't as perfect a society as legend makes them out to be.

History of the city was all but lost, much of the records wiped from existence by some higher order. The last remaining tomes and maps were hidden deep in the Royal Archives, where only the most diligent eye would be able to find it. For one as persistent and as...  obsessive as Star Keeper, it was all in a days work almost. Guess curiosity makes fools of us all.

@@The-Master, ((It's Atlanteans, not Atlantians. Sorry, but I had to point it out.))

@,

Cascade chastised herself mentally. Of course, she had missed practically the entire meeting... But Atlantis? That didn't seem... Well, Cascade decided to keep her opinions to herself.

Chasing legends sounded fun, after all. Whether their chase would come to fruition... Well, if anypony was ever going to find Atlantis, it was probably Cascade who would do it.

"Well," Cascade began hesitantly, before catching herself.

"It's no problem. Now, moving along."

Feather rose shakily to her feet, relieved that she wasn't in more trouble.  Blushing with embarrassment, she slipped quietly back into the little group that were watching Ocean's presentation.

Dark caves, deep caverns, "other dangerous things"... Feather's heart fluttered in her chest. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a blonde coated stallion with a blue mane, keeping himself distinctly separate from the rest of the group. At first, Feather wondered why he wasn't paying attention to Ocean, but then she got a better look at the tomes and scrolls he was reading.

A brief flash of jealousy shot through Feather; she had read about Atlantis before, but mainly in fiction. The texts the stallion was currently reading, and the others Feather could see poking out of his saddlebags, looked serious. Maybe she could borrow them sometime, if she could work up the nerve to ask...

"Are there any other questions before we all break for lunch?"

Feather blinked, the sound of lunch - well, breakfast for her - snapping her back to attention. Guiltily, she realised she had missed the rest of the presentation - she hoped it hadn't been anything important. Feather opened her mouth, ready to ask about some of those "other dangers" Ocean had so casually mentioned, but another voice - belonging, Feather saw, to a little yellow pegasus mare with a sleek blue mane - beat her to it.

Cascade sighed at herself inside. Why'd she let herself do that? Well, she needed to respond now, anyway. With an important ruffle of her flipper-wings, she said, "Don't get me wrong, ma'am. I'm excited to go to these unexplored areas of the ocean. We'll probably find stuff no one else ever has. But... Atlantis?" She laughed, not quite derisively. "You really think we're going to find Atlantis? Come on, now. Atlantis was invented by the imaginations of ancient poets."

Ocean couldn't help but laugh. "You missed the first part of the meeting...hold on." She reached into her bag sitting next to the slide machine and pulled out a very old torn tattered book. "This book was uncovered in the crystal mountains. So far, everything it's explained has come true. Plus there have been many reports of findings...ancient texts, old towns that have had certain types of electricity, all of which have some sort of record in this book. You must be Cascade...I have heard quite a bit about you."

@@Glaceon, @,

Feather shifted uncomfortably as she listened to Cascade and Ocean, not entirely sure if a fight were about to break out or not. If one did, she had no intention of getting involved - to her at least, it didn't matter so much if they found Atlantis or not (although Feather knew she would be lying if she said she wasn't hoping they would) so long as they had adventure along the way; the kind worth writing about, to be exact.

Still, the prophetic book Ocean was holding up sounded very interesting. Once again Feather wished she had been on time to hear the whole meeting.

"Um, excuse me Captain Ocean." Feather herself was startled to realise she was speaking. "But...would it possible for me to take a look at that book? I know I'm just a crew member, but I've never heard of this book before and I find the whole concept rather fascinating, really, so um....yeah." Feather trailed off rather lamely, shifting awkwardly from one hoof to the other.

A book that tells the future...Maybe it'll tell me my horoscope. Feather blinked. Oh wait, I don't know my star sign. Damn...

Frostbite was still busy fiddling around with her mane, tossing it back and forth, straightening it with her hooves and tugging it apart, eventually she flung it all back and sighed - defeated by her own hair. She gave a disapproving, almost skeptical look at the captain before looking back over at Lila. "Well I dont know about you, but i've heard just about enough of this fairy tale for a while. Time to grab some grub, I think - you coming?" she asked in a flat tone while turning and taking a step to the door, obviously not quite taken with the whole plan.

Dox's ears perked up as he heard everypony talking about lunch. "Well, might as well get that started. Here, have your game back." He said to the computer pony and ran down to the mess hall and into the kitchen. He pulled out various pots and pans and began to simmer sauces and boil water.

((Lol. Horoscopes.))

Cascade's ears had turned back during her explanation about the book, and gazed at it intently. It was almost like she was trying to destroy it with x-ray vision, how intense her stare. She sighed, and looked up at the mare again, meeting her eyes this time. "I didn't know my name was so well-known." And her entire demeanor reflected that. It was surreal, being known by somepony you hadn't met before. "You would be Ocean Wind, then?" Well, the answer was obvious. She was the captain, after all.

When Giant could keep his ears pricked open, he had to agree with the second security officer. Chasing several millions bits after a children's story confirmed by a dusty old book was not something the old CO would have signed off for any ops whatever.

But because the windows were still un-tinted, his ears were instead plastered closely to his head most of the time.

Better that they didn't find anything exciting, he figured. With the way they were prepared. As the meeting looked ready to dispersed, Giant realized he'd been left by the white pegasus and that he'd have to force himself up on his own hooves if he wanted to get out of here before they turned out the lights.

How to go about this, then? Giant didn't let his eyes open as he got slowly to his feet. Now, if you have to open them, just don't look left, and don't look right. You can handle all your fears with a little planning. Now scoot to the left...

The catwalk was over forty trots long, however, and Giant was sure he wouldn't make it all the way to the bridge doors on his own. Behind those doors was dry safety, but--as he peeked just a little--it seemed excessively far away.

Keeping his eyes from opening too far, he shuffled to the side, seeking some help to get off the bridge. The nearest voice sounded like it belonged to a mare.

"...really, so um...yeah."

Giant gritted his teeth. "Excuse me,"  he mumbled quietly. "Could somepony be an honorary earth pony and help me get off this Luna-forsaken jungle gym?"

While most everyone was gone off to eat lunch, Moon for some reason stayed where she was. Eventually she saw one of the ponies walk down to both Ocean and Feather to see that she joined the conversation with the other two.

The interesting part of the conversation though was that old book Ocean had. It wasn't familiar to her, but just to look at it seemed so, historical.

When the book was put away though, she started to walk back to the 3 and eventually sat in a small gap next to Cascade.

Lost Knowledge listened to everything Ocean said, and didn't really know what to make of it. All he could say for sure was that if they found something, it could be monumental. As the others headed off to lunch, he headed back to his room. He wasn't feeling hungry at the moment.

MacHayher grunted at the pony's remark. Great. Not only am I assigned to a stupid position, the ponies here are either insane or rude. This is goin gto be the longest trip ever.

He half listened to everything...Atlantis, okay....giant squid (which he assumed he woukd have to fight. Lucky him.) And finally, small pods.

Yep, I'm sure that's everything important

Everypony then broke for lunch. Great. He thought. Good thing I've talked to somepony and have friends to sit next to.

He then noticed the mare who had just been speaking up ahead. He figured he could go talk to her about changing positions. He observed a bit. Cute face, lean-ish build, and that was all MacHayver had going for her.

He walked up, even though somepony was already talking to her. When there was a break in the conversation, he dipped his head in respect and said, "Captain Wind, Protecter MacHayver reporting for duty. If you have a minute, when you're finished, I wish to have a word with you."

She said again, allowing herself to drift away, much as she had when she had first engaged the Captain in conversation. She still didn't buy the whole 'Atlantis' thing, but she'd always wanted to go to the Seafloor regardless... So that was fine.

She noticed Nightfall standing in the crowd as well, as he had shoved his way forward. She should have figured out that he would be there as well. After all, he had said on departing that he was going to look for the captain. She supposed that her confusion at his presence came from Ocean's totally non-captain-like aura.
