is it ANYTHING anthro related regardless of the quality?

By definition, yes. Anything anthropomorphic, as long as it's intelligent, furries will say it's one of their liking. Including ponies in MLP:FiM

That doesn't fully answer my question. I mean't, do they like ANYTHING anthro related regardless of the quality? So any cartoon that has anthro animals even if it is terrible? Again, still not trying to insult furries.

Welp, as long as it's anthropomorphic (have some human traits shown about them, able to talk yada yada), it's a furry

About whether they will like it or not, it's personal preference. it's like asking whether bronies will like all kind of OCs regardless of their quality, can't really say anything about that.

Though I'm fairly sure the merge created a topic shift, I'd like to address an interesting point.

A person I knew on Skype saved a picture to their favorites once, and it leaked out (via their own actions). The picture was quite questionable (Meh, a little work in Paint and I could get rid of the bad stuff), but I saved it because I liked how well draw it was and how great the colour scheme was. And yes, anthro furry pic.

Ironically, he wasn't a furry, yet I have a picture of him in a fursuit, and he'd murder me if I released it.

Why is this thread so quiet? It needs to be awaken up bit more!

So, what is your opinion on the fandom itself? How could it improve? Do you think it should improve at all?

Based upon how the fandom around my location, everyone should be able to respect the nature of the fandom and understand each other to gain a proper outcome for one another. Like, I mostly join the furry fandom because of MLP: FiM's Spike the Dragon. Everyone claims that I'm not a furry just because of the show of reference.

I almost got into this, but I didnt really get it or where it came from or what it was about, hence I caught on to ponies instead of this fandom. That, and i have a school computer, so the levels of awkward for me would be off the scale.

Im not against it, I just dont understand it. I suppose its good art work if one calls it that. If someone could explain before I formulate opinions that would be cool.

I just got back from my first Brony convention (no it was not Canterlot Gardens) and encountered my first Fursuiters. I always thought I would be uncomfortable around such people, but I was actually not bothered at all. They seemed friendly and polite and I thought they quite added to the con experience. The trip was hell of a lot of fun. The only person I encountered who made me feel uncomfortable was a middle aged guy with a fox tail in a kilt occasionally wearing leather handcuffs. This may sound prejudiced and I don't know if we was a furry or not but the guy honestly creeped me out.

Its really complicating to explain, it may be easier to search up. Trust me, there's a lot to it. ^

Anyway, I think furries are cool ^-^ I'm one, I don't really care what people think of me anymore, but if you do have a problem with me I'd just say deal with it. Lol. I'm not much of a brony anymore though, it was a phase I think. Ive been a furry for a year and a half so...the whole brony thing was just a short thing I suddenly got interested into. I still like the show I guess, It's just not my thing anymore.

You'll get a different answer depending on who you ask. There is no concrete answer for what a furry really is. It's an inherently personal thing for everyone. However, for the most part, it's an enjoyment of anthropomorphic entities. But there are furries who do enjoy feral creatures with human characteristics like Balto... or our beloved ponies.

There's a big, big difference between a zoophile and a furry. Though the things do have some overlap, the two things are not mutually exclusive. Never confuse a furry with a zoophile since they are not anywhere near the same thing.

[EDIT] For those of you outside the loop, a zoophile is one who has a romantic or sexual interest in actual animals. Thusly, do not confuse that concept with the furry fandom.

Not sure if I said this already, but I went to Anthrocon 2012 and boy was it the best experience ever.

Not sure why people say anthrocon is full of porn, I see very little there, honest. :/

Because the furry fandom has been the target of yellow journalism so all anyone ever thinks about it is that furries are sexual deviants, when all it means is people that like the idea of anthro animals, whether they be bipedal or not.

One doesn't have to have a sexual interest in anthro characters to be a furry, contrary to popular opinion.

Star Fox got me into being a furry, just because let's face it, the game would of been a lot less awesome if they were humans instead of anthro animals. Lots of things are like that.

Haha, all the same music artist, just different alter-egos. Though Renard (and by that I mean Renard as a whole, including FIAB, Mayhem, Jackal Queenston, and all his other alter-egos) is amazing.

Furries are people who are a fan of anthromorphic art. "Anthropomorphic" or anthropomorphism or simply anthro. means animals with personification, or given human traits. That's really what a Furry is :) Edited by Ad Foedera Cresco

We do it for similar reasons that people are bronies. We like the various subject materials, the socialization, talking with like minded people. We are animal lovers, avid cartoon fans, artists, and many other things, just as varied as members of any other fandom.

For me, I've always been interested in human animal hybrids, I think they are "cool" I guess you could say. The idea of pretending to be one, identifying with animals and their traits, and looking to nature for inspiration in my life draws me in. Its hard to explain as a whole, because every furry is different, and for most people it just ends up being something they are drawn to somehow (like how most bronies are just pulled in, not a real central reason as to why).

I don't see why people take such offence when furries decide to draw porn. Sex is a natural interest. Our society needs to get over their idea that if something is sexual, then it is wrong. The media needs to grow up.

Hear, hear, its far past the time in which our society should have moved out of such archaic views on sex. Its a natural part of life, not something to shun or hide.

Hello. I've been a furr for ages now; and I just wondered what you thought of the fandom. It's a lot older than the MLP fandom and the people are great!

The meets are also well established and almost world wide.

We really should form and alliance.

If you don't know; A link about the furry fandom.
