DoomOtter 17 December 12, 2013 Share December 12, 2013 (edited) I actually am a furry. While there is a lot of overlap between the fandoms I don't think you can consider bronies furries. There is a lot of overlap, and a lot of people I know who are furries are also bronies. As in this fandom there are a lot of misconceptions. A lot of people see furries as sexual deviants, but in reality most furries are purfectly normal people. There is a lot of R34 in the fandom, but it's the same in this fandom. And as for fursuiting it's basically their version of cosplaying, but most don't do it (fursuits usually cost about a thousand dollars on the low end.) I saw a video that if I recall corectly goes into depth about the two fandom Edited December 12, 2013 by DoomOtter
Cygnus 60 December 12, 2013 Share December 12, 2013 I don't think much of anything about them. I contribute to a few clean story archives but consider myself more invested in the sci-fi/fantasy elements with the "furry" characters as the medium. My online experiences talking to furries have been mostly negative (never ever ever ever ever ever leaving my contact information public on those sites again!), but I've had a few friends who were heavily into art, fursuiting, and fiction. DiscordantFollower 14 December 12, 2013 Share December 12, 2013 The first furry i met i asked him about the bronies and he said "dude bronies suck furries all the way!" and i was like :okiedokielokie:
CloakerJest 6 December 12, 2013 Share December 12, 2013 I'm somewhat neutral when it comes to comparing furries and bronies. Before I became a brony I used to listen to a bit of furry music so, no jeers from me. (Though my golden and only rule about things like this is "It's only weird if you make it weird".) btw: I still listen to a bit of the furry music alongside my usual stuff especially the chiptunes. Derpaholic 1,154 December 12, 2013 Share December 12, 2013 (edited) My friend's a furry. Don't really know much about the subculture itself, despite of this.I guess I'm just sort of neutral towards them. I don't really have an opinion one way or another. Super Sand Legend 2,025 December 12, 2013 Share December 12, 2013 Im a massive furry, but im a bigger brony. Mlp isn't really completely furry when you think about it, they can talk and do a lot of things like we do, but they don't have hands and they don't walk on two feet, they walk on four hoofs. CloakerJest 6 December 12, 2013 Share December 12, 2013 I'm finding it interesting how some of the bronies commenting have a past with the furry fandom(including me).
Treble Bolt 1,121 December 12, 2013 Share December 12, 2013 Technically, being a brony is not being outright a furry....just because you like star trek or Lord of the Rings doesn't make you a geek....just because you like anime doesn't mean you are an Otaku.... In the brony fandom, there are furries...those who dress up, and participate in uh....those things....however, the real characteristic that can be defined as being a furry is liking of anthro animals from more than one thing. I consider myself a furry, because I love anthro animal stories (Fire Bringer, Redwall, Warriors, etc.) but I do not dress up, partake in really anything that really defines the furry fandom in popular culture. MLP is just one aspect. If you are a brony but don't have any interest in any other anthro series/stories/genres than you are not a furry.
~Silver Essence~ 2,620 December 12, 2013 Share December 12, 2013 Their alright, I like their own antro art fursona's so I'm pretty cool with them either way.
ReverseFaller 2,478 December 12, 2013 Share December 12, 2013 Bronies are practically a subgroup of Furries, so it'd be hypocritical of me to insult them. I have nothing against furries. Hell, I'll probably become one in the future.
River 59 December 12, 2013 Share December 12, 2013 I heavily disagree with you saying straight up that 'technically' every Brony is also a Furry. I'd only say that a Brony is a Furry if the defining reason they watch the show is because the characters are ponies. If you watch something exclusively because it has anthropomorphic characters then yes, you probably are one, but not if it's one show. I don't consider myself one and If it was My Little Human I'd still watch it. Well, ponies have fur, bronies like the ponies, some even sexually attract to them. That is a furry trait. Bronies are a subcategory of furries. Though, some of them aren't furries. It's complicated. I did not say that ALL bronies are furries. Bronies are a furry subtype to some level. Scootalove 10,677 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 I have no problem with them, and I don't have to insult them. Furries are a group almost similar to bronies, so it would be wise not to insult them.

Clover Heart 978 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 (edited) I don't feel any way about furries as a whole. I try not to judge entire groups of people... unless your group is neo-Nazi or baby kicker or something like that. Most of the furries I've met have been pretty nice. I'm sure there are probably some a-holes out there, but my experiences have generally been good. Bronies are practically a subgroup of Furries, so it'd be hypocritical of me to insult them. I have nothing against furries. Hell, I'll probably become one in the future. Not to be contradictory, but I don't agree with this. You can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the minimum prerequisite for being a furry (or scaly) is having a fursona. Whether you dress up, role play, whatever is all up to the individual, but I think you at least have to have a fursona. In contrast, being a brony does not require you to have an OC representative of yourself. Admittedly, many people do make them but that's not required to fall under the definition of a brony. The only stipulations are that you like MLP and are not part of the age demographic, and I'm not even sure about the latter point. I'll concede that there's some crossover between furries and bronies but I don't agree that bronies are a subgroup of furries. Sunlight 357 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 I've never had too much contact with the furry community yet, so I'm kinda neutral about them. Honestly, the art is a little strange sometimes, but other times they draw totally appropriate things. So, I don't mind them.
DoomOtter 17 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 Not always. (this is a fursuit, and that's a man dressed as a woman.) I would like to say that this is not a fursuit. It is very obvious that it cannot be worn. Although there is a chance it is *shudders* a love doll.
crazitaco 593 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 Not always. (this is a fursuit, and that's a man dressed as a woman.) I could just as easily pull up a creepy brony picture that is just as bad or even worse then that. That's why i don't think its really fair to judge them based on these kinds of pictures. It doesn't reflect the actuality of the fandom.

CT-1138 3,176 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 Gonna be straight up here: I'm not fond of the furry fandom and do not consider Bronies to be a subculture of furries. I find the idea of dressing in costuming (I don't even like it when people do it for MLP) and/or obsessing over over anthropomorphized animals (at least MLPs still look like ponies to an extent) to be slightly offputing. I'd never openly outcast a person for being a furry and wouldn't defriend them over it, but I'm not completely comfortable with the concept either.
verycreativeusername 1,800 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 (edited) I honestly don't care about furries. If you are one, good for you. If you aren't, good for you. I'm not going to judge you for it. It's you and your personality that matters, not what you like. Edited December 13, 2013 by ~Zero~
Hreter 9 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 I am a furry myself and found the brony fandom out from it. It has it's ups and downs, but you end up loving every bit of it, even the weirdest part. IDK, it makes you more tollerant.

Moonlight 7,252 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 I don't have much of an opinion on furries themselves but I adore the furry fandom's artwork, especially the fox and wolf pictures. Furries are okay, I don't think of them as weird or anything, they like doing what they like doing.
