River 59 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 But isn't that like saying then that every Furry is also a Brony? Which would also be incorrect. I think whether someone is a furry or not is almost entirely up to that person. No, not every Furry is also a Brony. It is up to that person. But I feel like if you have a OC Pony, you are somewhat of a furry.
Lonepony744 17 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 I don't see anything wrong with them.To me they are just a bunch of people who enjoy anthropomorphic stuff. They're fandom doesn't hurt anything or anyone.

But I feel like if you have a OC Pony, you are somewhat of a furry. So if I had a warrior cat character, it would make me a furry? Or would it make me a fan of Warriors? If I had a human character what would that make me? I'm really sorry, but I don't see your logic exactly. I'm sort of a furry, but I don't exactly understand. I think if you have an OC of a mlp all it means is that you like my little pony and are a fan. The 'only' way I see someone being a furry, is if they associate with the fandom. You can't really call people furries if they don't associate with the one thing they are supposedly a part of. ((Don't take this as an attack, sorry if it sounds that way.)) Bronyette 833 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 (edited) It does sound like an attack. ;-;Sorry, I was on a forum that had a hardcore debating subsection that I was a part of. I kinda get critical at times. But still all my points stand. On another note, I don't mind the halfway decent furries. There are a few types I won't go near because they tend to be childish and annoying. PS: I'm really not mean. ;-; just critical on points given I don't agree with, or if they don't make sense to me. Midnight_Magic 72 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 well, considering I used to be a furry, and in some ways still am I can say that its a lot like the herd. most are very cool folks who just like having fun and making friends while others are just...well weird! Not always. (this is a fursuit, and that's a man dressed as a woman.) also that is very scary indeed! the fursuits I have seen never looked like that...some were really bad ass looking honestly
CometSpeed 38 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 i was in a Xbox live halo clan ( mostly Elite character models because we like to be different lol ) and we were all ( members of clan ) either Bronies or Furries ... it was surpriseing how we all got along, and how the two fandoms along with followers act alike allot of the furries came off as therian tho meaning they believed they were part animal, i guess in a conscious way... they would display themselves as a wolf, or hurky, horse.etc... and then me with the bronies displaying ourselves as earth pony, unicorn, and pegasus ( me ) . the clan leader, was a Alicorn XD
Simul 3 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 (edited) Furries are like any other section of nerd culture; just regular people who have a passion for something. Some of them are into some less savory stuff, but a lot of them aren't. The thing that makes the furry fandom different from almost every other fandom is that their focus is not on one specific show, movie, book series, etc. Instead, they're fans of a wider concept, that concept being anthropomorphism. Because the fandom's focus is so general, you can't really place all furries into one group, at least not the way you can with bronies. "Furry" has become a sort of umbrella term for a wider range of interests. This is part of why you can't say that bronies and furries are the same thing. The only attributes they share are those belonging to all fandoms, and the fact that that their focus involves some sort of animal. The similarities between the two are superficial, and at their core they are very distinct and different groups. Is there overlap? Yes, but that's because there's overlap between all fandoms, and not because they have any significant relationship beyond that. Guest90210 3,566 December 13, 2013 Share December 13, 2013 I really don't mind furries. Everyone has their own interests and if that's what they're into then whatever.
Sweet Dreams 1,891 December 14, 2013 Share December 14, 2013 I've never really socialised with that fandom before. I actually don't really know much about them at all. But, I think they're alright from what I've seen.
Irish Mist 119 December 14, 2013 Share December 14, 2013 I can't say I hate them since I've been stuck with them for seven+ years now. But in all honesty, most of them creep me to an extreme degree. It's most the ones who believe they are their character or refer to themselves as said character. I have a character to, but I have never referred to myself as him. Their's also the types who find it to be an entire lifestyle choice that they were born with, which is just ridiculous. That being said, their not all bad; I've met plenty who I'm still friends with and others who are just generally nice people. Added that I'm dating one, so there's also that. Also, on another note, fursuits creep me out to no end, so thanks for the nightmares from that suit circulating the thread XD

Undyne 1,483 December 14, 2013 Share December 14, 2013 Now, let's get the whole thing settled right here. I like furries. I honestly do. Furries these days are actually some of the best people I have ever gotten to meet. Not to mention that they have some wicked art. Giving the case of some bronies giving off the hate against furries, it makes me want to slap them. Guess what? You have an OC of something that you have modeled from a certain show or popular trend. The furry fandom do the exact same thing. Whoever said that OCs are a little anthrofied because they act human, compare Rarity, who makes a living as a tailor and raising a smaller sibling at the same time to your OC. Tell me how is not human enough. It just pisses me off that people would go to different lengths to bash on similar people.
Mutemutt 772 December 14, 2013 Share December 14, 2013 They're okay I guess. I don't know any furries personally or maybe I do and just don't realize it. It doesn't really matter either way, people aren't defined by their fandoms. Do I think some furries are weird? Yes. Do I think some bronies are weird? Yes. Do I think some "normal" people are weird? Yes. You know what they say, it takes all kinds to make a world; furries are just one of many.
Arylett Charnoa 4,916 December 15, 2013 Share December 15, 2013 Depends on the person. I can't well judge them all for one group, can I? Besides, I'm kind of one myself. Sort of. A very picky one, but still. I'm not one to say: "Eww, you're a furry, go away!" though. Of course, some weirdos will creep me out. But that's moreso in this fandom than furries. Overall, they don't seem too bad. Although many of them are amateur artists who are quite lacking in design sense (making furries who look like these lab freak mutants), and that kind of bugs me quite a bit. Has nothing to do with the people themselves though. As long as you don't act like what I consider to be a dumbass, doesn't matter what you are. I'll respect you either way. SomariFeyWright 775 December 15, 2013 Share December 15, 2013 While I'm not truly a furry, per sé, I can sympathize with them. I've had my fair share of anthropomorphic crushes, and I continue to find more to this day. Just as the good people would agree, I think furries as a whole are a perfectly fine community of people, even on the side that... "enjoys" the walking animals. We shouldn't judge cloppers for clopping to ponies, we shouldn't judge yiffers for yiffing to anthros. Though I admit I WOULD feel a bit uncomfortable around such people... ^^; So yeah, respect to the as-a-whole furry community.
Leavinh 313 December 15, 2013 Share December 15, 2013 Like all other fandoms and groups of people, there are good parts and not so great parts. But, so far, all of the furries I've met have been really cool, laid back people. And some of the art that comes out of that community is pretty cool. Avatar tag: shipping 298 December 15, 2013 Share December 15, 2013 The first thing my sister said once she found out I'm a brony was "at least you're not a furry". She thinks all furries wear fur suits and go around boning each other, so I didn't bother telling her that I'm technically one. Not in the traditional sense but I have an OC and though I don't consider my self one, that counts. I don't understand the hate people have for furries. I've met a couple here and they seem perfectly fine to me. If anyone I talk to regular here is a furry, I have no idea. If they aren't hurting anyone or causing trouble, how is it any of my business? To each his own, right?
A Blithering Div 247 December 15, 2013 Share December 15, 2013 I don't mind them. If that's your thing, have at it. Some of them I'm a bit curious about though. There was this one person in some of my classes that wore a tail and a collar. Like a dog collar. With a tag. Every day. Never got around to asking them why.

Venomshank 120 December 15, 2013 Share December 15, 2013 Ick I feel like it can't be that hard to be completely normal with the whole sexuality thing. I would never judge a person unjustly, but I will judge internally, and count this as internal. So, I think it's fairly weird. I can... Sorta... See where they're coming from...? I guess? But it still certainly does not float my boat.
