I'm gonna say being a human is great.

I used to absolutely despise the furry fandom, but I realized that I was in with the wrong crowd and that wasn't my true position.

edit: *in answer to merged thread's question

No, I'm not into furries that bad. I like the art from time to time but not to the point where I'd walk around in a fursuit and absolutely not so much that I actually want to be one.

I don't see why anyone would want to... just creates a bunch of problems

As there exists a mega-thread for this sort of discussion I went ahead and merged your thread with the bigger one.

Thank you. :)

Was wondering what one exactly was.

Like, as literally as you can go with the term, it basically just means "That which has fur."

And I'm kind of on the fence about the whole thing. I love animals, that I can state without any hesitation. Animals are better then humans in every way for me.

I'd trade in everything about myself but my sentience to look like anything other then a Human. Well, have my doubts about fur specifically, think it would be massively itchy to have a full body coat of fur.

Anybeing comes at me in one of those fursuits, I am losing my mind completely & screaming bloody murder.

Was terrified as a child because of a man in an oversized, hairy bee-suit.

May have lost track of what I was talking about...Ah, the joys of late-night foruming.

I recall hearing there is research into making that actually possible.

Of what? Completely overwriting your genetic code?  ....I must know this of what you speak, good sir!

I've said this four hundred times now, but my earliest crushes were on animated mice.  Several mice.  (It's been pointed out to me why things probably wouldn't have worked out with a mouse lady.)  Later on in life, I realized the appeal of anime cat girls.  At some point, I discovered Robert Crumb.  I went through a full-on anthro phase; a phase which probably involved pictures of Krystal or Renamon as often as anyone.  What followed was an enduring interest in ladies with hooves that predated FIM by quite a while; I even showed interest in ponies from past gens of MLP.

I still don't really consider myself a furry, though. xD  I never got into the community; never dabbled in fursonas, RP-ing, or any of that jazz.  Besides: Whether they're a mouse, cat girl, anthro fox, or sexy pegasus, I've always regarded them as, well, women.  Some people get that, and some people - even in this fandom - seem confused by it.

I don't want to be a Furry.  I like furry animals like dogs, rats and that sort of things but the fandom just looks way too crazy, not really any other word I can think of to describe it.  I like humanized animals but I like MLP much more since there is a common show to talk about and there seems to be less saucy stuff with ponies.  Never looked into furries though so I could be wrong in saying that most of them are crazy.

I have a question is it just me or does anyone else with they could be a actual furry. If so what furry. I wish i could be a fox furry. Or if you wish you were from MLP post that to.

Nice picture and perfect choice. For I too would be a fox. I love foxes and being a furry of that sort would be so fun and natural. It's really the best of all worlds, being a stylish animal with a cute furry tail while still retaining certain human-like traits. It's like being a cartoon character, and who wouldn't want to be a toon?

  • 2 weeks later...

I joined the furry fandom a few years ago. I have always loved animals and have always been interested in animals with human-like characteristics. I just think things like that are very, very cool. I do have a fursona, but her design is sorta on hold- as I am stuck thinking of a good color scheme. While I do not currently own a fursuit, I do own two tails (one wolf that is solid black and one husky that is white and blue) as well as a pair of ears. I plan on purchasing more furry merchandise. Unfortunately, however, I do personally not know any furries near me.

Just because you've had a bad experience with a couple of nutjobs doesn't mean you have to hate everyone who shares their general interest

retired furry here. i fell for the trap of the appeal of the fandom back when I was 16. I loved and lived it and still own a fursuit. But the fandom just wrecked my life. I messed up my Uni course because of it, I moved through several homes and i developed a lot of hate for people in general and have an egotistical attention whore streak because of that damn fandom and its drama. The old me is awful and Im glad im moving from it. Helps having a boyfriend who has no interest in it too.

BUT I do still keep to offering furry art commissions, much less so these days, but I do try and bring it back at times. Ive been a furry for nearly 10 years... wow.

Oh if anyone wants to know who I was in that fandom, my old name was JessLyra, my fursonas are Lyra the Snow leopardess, Huru the Okapi, Stevie the roo and Tala the she wolf.
