I'm a furry myself as well.

And actually, I see a lot of resemblances between Furries and Bronies.

I don't know exactly the meaning of the word "furry", but it has something to do with giving human aspects to any animal, not necessarily being Yiff.

I think some people "hate" furries because it's simply weird in the common point of view of the society, just like bronies are.

It's just because it's different and people form the assumption that all furries are some sort of sexual deviant. We all know this not to be the case but people love ignorance and hate anything different. If your able to sit a person down and explain it to them then they may understand but trying to explain it to a whole society of people just doesn't work for the most part. To borrow from Agent K "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals, and you know it."

Because it's human nature to hate or otherwise fear things they don't understand. (Yes, I said "they", not "we". If you had as evil of a boss as I do, you'd want to disassociate yourself from the human race too.)

Because people think that the definition of furry is someone who want to do it with a animal costume or something and yiffs. Though, that isn't the case. I may not know the actual definition, but it sure ain't that.

I dont hate furries, I just hate cloppers. They take an innocent little kids show that is supposed to be viewed with the innocence of a child and they warp it into something evil and dirty.

I am not going to confront them about it, none of my business but it does weird me out

Furries Does not equal sexual desires.

Furries I think are just people who like Humanoid animal I think its called. Nothing to do with anything sexual at all.

sometimes its sexual, I always assumed it all was, I haven't had any interest to explore the fandom anymore

Just because you are a ''furry'' dose NOT mean you want some sort of a relation with an animal.

Some might like the artwork, and some like to cosplay. And ofcourse, there is a dirty side. But i don't blame them, the odd is always the most interesting.

This image pretty much explains it.

Aren't baseless assumptions a big reason why a lot of people hate bronies?

Furries are, in short, people who see themselves as Anthromorphic Animals (or equivalents to other animal like bodies), they see themselves with the same attributes as an animal in the wild. That is why most have their own fursona (much like we have a ponysona) to represent their self in an animal like way.

There are many different type of furries though.

For the same reason I hate anyone who chases after sex for nothing more than the sake of sex. So I guess you don't have to worry about me discriminating against you or anything, you'll be able to sleep well tonight.

I know when I hated furries, it was because all I'd had in personal experiences with them was having the misfortune of seeing anthro porn (I hate masked links). Then, I decided to stop being so shallow and look into the fandom.

Most media on furries only covers yiffing and rule 34. But, you know what? Bronies have cloppers and rule 34 (No shortage of it, either), but I don't hate them as a whole.

I consider myself as a furry for the simple reason that I like the artstyle. Any anime-drawn catgirl will instantly get my attention.

As it was already said around here somewhere, the nasty part (Yiff) is just a percentage of its fandom, just like Cloppers are around our fandom.

And just as some dumb people consider every single Brony as a Clopper, the same goes to Furries.

...Or at least that's my opinion.

It's a common thing for people to hate something that they don't necessarily understand. I've known a few furries in my life time, and before I knew anything about it I was merely curious about the whole phenomenon. I had only learned about the sexual aspect of furries, and I was turned off towards culture without even really knowing about it. Being a curious person, I started doing on it and had discovered that it wasn't as bad as my original judgement. In actuality it's a culture that I highly respect these days.

Well, I think (and a bunch of other people furry too) that the CSI episode "fur and loathing" made a really bad reputation of us. I mean, yeah, there are people like that in the fandom, but they are the minority of minorities, which is totally different what the producers were implying in that episode. Also, some people see us as annoying autistic grown up men who "yiff" 24/7 non-stop, which is incorrect. Though, I cannot understand why some Bronies hate Furries... I've seen quite a few of them hating on furries.. but that's another story. *sigh*

I'm no furry, but I don't hate the fandom. Still, I've heard from others that the whole sexual part of it creeps them out. A few people I know keep this kind of thing a secret because they think they drive people away by saying it. They only tell me because they can trust me not to tell others or not to run off just by the sound of the word.

Furries are not known by most of the public other than what popular media chooses to reveal, and the media generally portrays them as zoophiliacs and weirdos who believe they really are animals. So many people think that being a furry is a fetish, and that honestly bothers me. The furry fandom isn't JUST about the sexual side of things (though I won't deny it is a part), but there's also a lot of artwork and a large community who just think that anthropomorphic animals are awesome.

Most bronies hide behind the ''Love and tolerate'' when they themselfs dosen't give a damn about it.

They pick on furry people because they they think they are bigger than them.

But when the brony gets picked on its more like ''Oh no! You are a hater, love and tolerate''.

I think it's because the social media and internet has kind of morphed of the view of furries into people who have sexual fetishes and desires for animals. Other than that, I myself view them as people who love anthropomorphic animals. Platonically I mean.

I will post what I posted on another thread concerning a hate against "cloppers" (I edited for this topic.)

"Furryism" is similar to any other fetish out there in the world. There is an inflation fetish, a choking fetish, the most globally-common foot fetish, a leather fetish, a pony (clopping) fetish and so much more. I am sure that we find certain fetishes to be strange, but clopping is hardly a non-private action. Being a furry is finding sexual pleasure in anthropomorphic animals while S and M is finding sexual pleasure in pain. It is all put into the fetish category, and that is what makes humans unique. Who cares? If you're not a furry, do your own thing. If you are, "please do not rub it in others' faces". And, seriously, who rubs it in others' faces? Others keep saying "I don't like them rubbing it in my face." When has there been an instance in which a furry "rubs it in your face" that the individual just masturbated to an animal? We are all humans with a skeleton in the closet. But, in all truth, it's really about being a minority in a society that just doesn't understand. And that goes for all things. From taking extensive bike trips to taking drugs to having eight children.
