Similarities between our world and Equestria

What odd similarities between Equestrian and our world have you found? I've found as follows:

 

The terms "Heaven" and "Prayer" have both been used, thus showing it is possible that some form of religion exists in Equestria.

 

Although the terms "Anypony/Somepony/Nopony", etc. have been used mainly, in the episode "Keep Calm and Flutter On", Discord says "Anyone". Beavers also proved in this episode that swearing exists.

 

In the comics, it has been shown that Hand grenades (Hoof grenades?) exist. This could mean that Equestria isn't nearly as peaceful as it seems, or at least not during wars. It was also said in the comic that "animals with fingers" exist in Equestria.

Equestria seems to follow the same basic laws of physics, with the obvious exception of the existence of magic (which I see as merely the ability manipulate matter and energy at the sub-atomic level. I mean, obviously Unicorns aren't micro-managing each atom into place, but a spell to, say, turn a rock into a top hat could at it's core be a spell to rearrange the atoms in a rock into a form consistent with a top-hat (differences in constituent particles can be explained by matter creation/annihilation, which could be explained by the "magical poof" around the object when a spell is used).

 

There have been many explanations as to how Celestia and Luna move the sun and moon, and I am of the opinion that they merely stabilize the planet's rotation via subtle manipulation of the moons orbit. As far as NMM bringing about eternal night... not sure. Stopping the rotation of a planet would more or less destroy everything on it, so perhaps she would use magic to create a dense cloud of some strange particle that blocks out the sun? I don't know.

 

Other things are also explainable using physics. The unnatural weather could be due to higher atmospheric pressure than we have. If the air pressure is too high, evaporation is greatly slowed, and clouds and stuff can't form. The Everfree Forest could have some natural quality that lowers the air pressure above it, causing weather to form naturally. Or the trees could be magical or something :/

On the official map Equestria is a equine counterpart of the USA. There are cities called Fillydelphia, Los Pegasus, Baltimare and the landscape resembles North America. The Rarity cover of issue #1 of the comic series has a sign showing the direction to cities named "San Flanksisco" and many other ponyfied names of real-world cities. The moon also looks like the Terran moon.

 

Physic laws have to differ from our universe, otherwise Pegasi would be unable to fly, even with a lower gravity and in denser atmosphere, because their wings are to small.
