I've seen a few arguments on the web recently between Bronies and people attacking them, mostly over the porn side of the fandom. As we know, some of the more vocal critics have actually been other Bronies. But I dunno. I mean, I've seen the main argument from other Bronies being that it disrupts the purity of the show. See, to me, I can kind of see that, but that's more of a personal issue. If you don't like it, don't think about it and don't go looking for it. You can't force other people to stop looking at something they like just because you don't find it pleasurable. My perspective I've always taken has been light-hearted. I talked to many Bronies on the Internet who are admitted cloppers, some on this forum, and I always just treat it as something funny. Because to me, it is very funny. If others find pleasure or even a bit of love in it, then that's cool too. I find a lot of humor in it though, and clopping really doesn't hurt anyone, so that's just my stance on it. Okay, you're right - I should probably say something serious *folds arms and puts on stern matronly expression*. As I've said before, I do not clop, however, I'm really interested in sexual psychology (for.... purely intellectual reasons you understand). I've read anecdotes from the more NSFW sides of various fandoms and as far as I can deduce, these reasons would seem to be the appeal of clop: 1. The show has a large cast of female characters, nearly all of which are likeable and fleshed out. 2. On that note, the elements of the mane 6 are kindness, generosity, loyalty, honesty, laughter and magic. So in other words, there's a perfect girlfriend for everypony - perhaps, especially for those who are shy/romantically awkward (not accusing anyone of such - just a hypothesis). 3. As others have said - cuteness (although I can't in any way relate to or even understand this personally) 4. They're ponies, but they share a lot of physical attributes with humans (e.g long, colourful hair) 5. There are a wide variety of lines and character attributes which can be..... 'taken out of context'. I'll just leave that there. If I could say there was one major difference between 'clop' and other NSFW portions of fandoms (besides the prevalence, which based on experience is bigger but exaggerated), it would be that there seems to be a lot of genuine love/dedication here. In most of these circles, it's more a case of "yeah, I'd bonk that". Here though, I've seen full on love poetry, people dreaming about dates and marriages and in very rare and extreme cases, people who abstain from regular relationships (e.g Twilight plushie guy) to be with their equine partners. So it's less like "I'd so do Rainbow Dash" and more like "Oh my sweet mare Rainbow Dash, gather me up in your big strong hooves, and hold me tenderly as we fly away into the sunset!" ... sweet Celestia, I just wrote that . Well, I should probably reiterate that I'm not a clopper.... I swear... I swear on Fluttershy's innocence even though that post would be pretty odd taken out of context . I have noticed that too, I myself have had plenty of crushes on fictional character but none of them were anywhere near as intense as my crush on Applejack and my crushes on Twilight, Luna and some of the other ponies also seem to be stronger than most of my other fictional crushes. For me and many others it is not just lust although that certainly plays a role as well but since personality plays a significant role in sexual attraction as well they seem to feed into each other. I have consumed quite a bit of R34 from many fandoms I have been in but none of them has had anywhere near as much of the romantic mushy stuff in it as MLP does. Yeah you have some clop with some of the more extreme fetishes including some comedy clopfics (one of the first fics I ever read clop or not was one where Fluttershy's vagina started talking) but not nearly as much of it as you would see in hentai at least not that I have seen. 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
