Candyland has you going from point A to Point B, so does Monopoly and a bunch of other board GAMES.

I meant games like COD which is going from Point A to Point B without any change in gameplay.

Mass Effect is also going from Point A(the drop off zone on that planet) to Point B(saving the citadel). That's how the story (and the good parts of the game is how the decisions you make affects the story). But there are different ways to get to point B. Which makes it a game for me.

In your example though, there are many routes to getting to Point B, which makes it a game. For example buying different properties change the game completely.

EDIT: NOOOOOOOOO! My opinion got brohoofs! That means my post is opinion is shared by other and therefore isn't all that controversial!!! D:

I'm mostly a Sonic fan when it comes to games, so they're all going to be Sonic game-based opinions.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles is a BAD game. The level design is extremely convoluted. When you travel to another section in a level, it keeps on going. Marble Garden, Carnival Night, Launch Base, Sandopolis, Lava Reef, and Death Egg are examples of overly "exploratory" level design. Sonic levels actually do MUCH better when they offer exploration yet are also linear at times. Half-and-half. S3&K has WAY too much exploration, making the level design crowded. Sky Sanctuary is the best zone in terms of level design because it offers exploration, but is also linear simultaneously.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles is bad, but Sonic 3 is worse. Not just because of the horrible level design, but it's glitchy, glitchy, and glitchy. I bumped into really bad glitches and collision detection when I played this half. It's more accurate realistically, but it's produced horribly. Sonic 4's physics are much better because while they aren't executed as well, it's produced better. Sonic 3 stands as the glitchiest Sonic game I've ever played. Glitchier than Adventure, Adventure 2, Heroes, Shadow, and Colors Wii combined. (Never played Next-Gen.)

Tails is the weakest gameplay mode in Adventure. Aside from the flight, he's a clear-cut clone of Sonic in almost every aspect. Too simple and boring most of the time.

Speaking of Adventure, Sonic ≥ Knuckles > Big > Amy >> Gamma >>> Tails.

If Sonic and Knuckles had the same levels only, Knuckles would be better in four out of the five, the lone exception being Lost World. Casinopolis is awful. Speed Highway is a bit boring. Sky Deck has a more interesting challenge. Red Mountain's level design fits Knuckles's exploration skills better.

BTW, the treasure hunting gameplay in Adventure 2 ≥ the shooting > the speed stages.

Adventure 2's story, despite its bad aging, is the series's best story. Black Knight is barely second, but it's an easy toss-up between the two.

As an Adventure fan, Heroes isn't a bad game, but it's not a good one, either. It's more in-between. Great ideas, bad execution. Shadow is a mildly better game.

This. All of this. When you can have a Final Fantasy 13-2 then you've taken a series too far.

I laughed my ass off at the fact that they actually called it final fantasy 13-2, and yes, they do need to kill that series.

Eeyup, it's like wartime Candyland. ^_^

I bloody love James Bond 007 Nightfire. Everyone says it sucks. I disagree.

Best FPS ever! This game is a huge part of my childhood :)

-The main objective in Zombie games should be survival

-Friendship should become more important in games(I want to interact and talk with my KI buddies)

- New York is the most overused location. EVER

- The enemies in most horror games(especially scifi) nowadays look shit and slimey.

- I don't like "Mutated Zombies(Tank, Jockey,Witch,...)"

- The focus of games should lay on singleplayer and I can't believe that there seem to be almost no decent storywriters out there

I still like it, but Metroid Prime is the most boring Metroid game imo with generic environments and boring power-ups. Prime 2, Prime 3, and even Other M are a lot more imaginative and fun imo. :)

Prime 3 has nothing on the other prime games. I mean seriously, half the boss fights take place in exactly the same room, half the power-ups aren't used enough and it lacks Metroid's trademark loneliness most of the time, which even Other M managed (surprisingly, considering you're in a ship full of people) and don't even get me started on those boss fights. The best of the lot was the first Ridley fight and that was less than an hour into the game. That said, Elysia is one of the highlights of the series, and I can't think of a more inventive environment in the series bar Sanctuary Fortress.

I remember playing with my brother for ages. Brilliant game.

And if I see one more game set in New York I will cry. Also, is anyone else sick of video games and movies about good guy U.S.A vs bad guy Russia and the glorious Americans always win? I sure as hay am. I have nothing against America but seriously, it's in too many games.

I believe Crash the Castle was the original angry birds.

Me too, as an European it is about twice as annoying if you only play Americans and games that are located in America.

I'd prefer fictional countries, or something more creative

I know, and I'm sure I'd be sick to death of seeing England in every video game, I live here. I've already seen it :/. Edited by Chill Mists (Chilly)

Or if they're gonna have it take place in America do something cool with it, like Earthbound or Fallout.

I agree. Also there are soo many cool locations in America which are rather fresh but they always seem to choose NYC or LA

Well, this thread is fun! Call me Jimmy Rustler, but...

I think Left 4 Dead isn't really a wonderful game. The only enjoyment I got out of it was playing with three other friends and being extremely silly.

Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are pretty overrated. They seem so dull, bland, repetitive and generally unappealing to me. A lack of weaponry and customization and the setting wasn't enjoyable for my tastes.

Most first-person shooters these days are the same. Don't get me started on how cookie-cutter all of the Call of Duty games have been for the past few years now.

Sequels need to stop being made and there needs to be some kind of mass extinction in order to make room for fresh, new ideas in video games.

Eh, to each their own, I liked the bosses Prime 3, and having the bounty hunter/federation/computer friends around was different but cool imo. Elysia and Sanctuary Fortress are both my favorite areas though, bar none. ;)

I think Nintendo and Gamefreak need to get their crap together and give us a proper 3D Pokemon game. The little Pokedex thing on the 3DS shows they can make the models.

I hear they're coming out with 2 new apps, they aren't traditional Pokemon games but it's stricken my curiosity.

Hold on now, if we're all bashing Angry Birds then that gaming opinion isn't controversial here. So stoppit. :P

Here's a couple of mine:

1. Combat system of Skyrim sucks. Seems like you just mash triggers.

2. Call of Duty is a broken game that needs to be ended just as quickly as Final Fantasy.

3. Assassin's Creed is amazing. People bash it because they don't focus on the plot. It's all about the plot. Always. This is one of many issues I could write essays on.

4. There will soon be too many Pokemon to keep track of. As good as the series has been, it's going to end soon inevitably.

5. Pokemon has a stupid name, but is an amazing game. Digimon has an amazing name, but is a crappy game/series/everything. The names should be switched, because I'd much rather have digital monsters than pocket monsters. Welcome to the 21st Century.

6. Stop all discussion about video game soundtracks, because I have the best list for you right here along with every single Zelda game. Yep, Legend of Zelda has all of the best soundtracks of any game.

7. Let's not talk Angry Birds here, but anyone could steal a flash game off the internet and make a cool app for it. It's all about appearance and marketing. Crush the Castle has their own App. It failed hard.

8. Grand Theft Auto series needs to end. It's the same game over and over with better graphics and a couple different weapons. Really, does anyone play GTA for the plot? No. It's terrible. People play GTA cause they want to run around and kill stuff.

9. Red Dead Redemption is Grand Theft Horse. Don't argue with this one either, you know it's true.

10. Console Multiplayer is essentially broken in variety. This is another reason why Assassin's Creed is amazing. Multiplayer games today on Xbox: Kill people in shooters. Alternative: Kill people to secure points. Check your K/D and obsess over it.

/endrant.

EDIT: I will be spending too much time here arguing, this thread is unsafe for my health.
