Theres a music instruments thread, lets discuss our favorite artists/genres!

At the moment my favorite genres are Electronic and Psychedelic rock. But I do enjoy all genres, especially folk music. I am very disappointed I missed All Good music festival this year Posted Image

replaced poll with the one from the other thread because it's better.

I love punk rock. The only band I religiously follow is Green Day.

Otherwise, I'm in to well done house and Eurobeat, and now PonyBeat :P

And then I like commercialised country music...

Pre American Idiot or their current stuff?

My first ever CD was Dookie and I have a soft spot for old school Green Day. But their new stuff... It just isnt close to punk.

I love techno, electronica, trance, dubstep, eruobeat, and rock. I can listen to just about anything and enjoy it, but I prefer the types I listed. I recently discovered that I can listen to all the awesome Disney music through Pandora, and I've been mostly listening to that so far today.

I like to play this music when I unravel a suspect's deceitful lies.

I've never played any of the ace attorney games, yet they seem incredible popular. The music's pretty awesome by the way.

I like pony music.

But, no, seriously, I enjoy pretty much all genres. I prefer indie music, though. A lot of popular music (at least in the U.S.) just doesn't appeal to me and I'd much rather not deal with large music corporations. I'd much rather give my money to someone like Johnathon Coulton who produces his own work or pony artists.

Most of my friends are all into the indie scene. But I cant usually get into it.

I'm not really into the scene. I just like the music. I'm also usually apprehensive to use the word indie because it usually implies hipster when all I really mean is independent.

Oh I dont think hipster when I think indie. I think acoustic guitars. But yeah I gotcha, I guess I just havnt found a band in it that appeals to me.

Muse, System of a Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Killswitch Engage

But Muse #1, seen them live twice. So psyched they're working on a new album right now.

The genre I listen to most is rock/metal but I prefer any genre except country and rap. I don't hate all of those songs but I don't like listening to them. My fav bands would be Megadeth, Black Label Society, and all the ones xfizzle mentioned except killswitch engage

My favorites are probably classical, progressive rock (especially jazz-influenced), some classic rock, soft rock, and Baroque/Chamber pop.

But overall I really like two things in popular music: strong classical/jazz influence, and wind instruments (no shocker there, right? lol).

Should probably elaborate on classical, though. My favorite types of classical are Impressionist, Renaissance (choral), Baroque, and Classical. I'd say that's about right in order.

The only things I don't listen to are metal (I don't like screaming), country western (just don't like it), electronic, and rap. But I'm no hater, I like to keep an open mind.

My favorite bands:

Chicago (60s-70s, not later)

The Beatles

Streetlight Manifesto

The Divine Comedy

Blood, Sweat & Tears

Eagles

Kansas

My favorite composers:

Claude Debussy

Thomas Tallis

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Johann Sebastian Bach

Maurice Ravel

Antonio Vivaldi

George Frideric Handel

Antonin Dvorak

Streetlight fan? So can I assume correctly that you love Catch-22?

Actually I started with Streetlight Manifesto so I generally prefer their versions just because I listened to them first.

I really like Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution, though.

Heres an Irish Band I enjoy listening to.

That was pretty good! I really enjoyed listening to it! ^^

Anyway, I listen mostly to classic rock. Especially progressive and psychedelic rock. But I also like to listen to some more "pop" classic rock like The Beatles or the Stones

Some of my favorites:

The Doors

Emerson, Lake and Palmer

Gentle Giant

Gong

H.P. Lovecraft

Jethro Tull

King Crimson

Pink Floyd (surprisingly enough, I prefer their older albums to albums like The Wall or DSotM)

The Soft Machine

Syd Barrett

The Beatles

Bachman-Turner Overdrive

The Beach Boys

Dire Straits

Rolling Stones

I love most kinds of music, there's a few I don't like as much though.

My preferred genres are metal (of any kind), techno/dance/rave or classical. Sometimes some uppity jazz gets me goin' too though.

I particularly like classical when it's super epic or super sad. Pirates of the Caribbean is a great epic piece and a great sad piece is Tartini's The Devil's Trill.

As for metal, or rock in some cases, I love it a lot of the time. Don't care if I can understand lyrics so much so screaming is either something I don't care if it's there or I like it. Skeletonwitch is has my favorite type of screaming but their guitar and drums are godly.

Favorite bands are Disturbed, Skeletonwitch, All That Remains, Scar Symmetry and Nightwish.

I listen to entirely too much music; a bit of rock, rap, hip hop, country, drum n bass, rap, etc.

Couple favorites:

- Deltron 3030

Seriously worth listening to, even if you don't like rap IMO.

- The Delgados (otherwise known as the band that did the intro to Gunslinger Girl)

- 3 Doors Down

- Creedance Clearwater Rivival

- The Trans-Siberian Orchestra

- The Prodigy

- DJ Format

- Photek

- Wu-Tang Clan

- Akira Yamaoka

- Kalafina

Big fan of trance, drum & bass and hardstyle, yet I play and perform a lot of classical piano music, so I suppose my tastes are pretty varied.

Incidentally, I already own a Hofner knockoff.

In the guitar department, the Spectrum 5:

The Moog guitar would also be a sweet acquisition. Here's it in action, in case you don't know what I'm talking about:
