[Emerald Wave 68]

Emerald Wave stayed silent. She was normally very naive and trusting. She didnt want to make a bad first impression, so she figured stay quiet and nopony would notice. The green mare stared ahead as she walked, occasionally glancing towards the woods.

Emerald Wave watched as her cabin came into view. She glanced toward the woods and saw some bushes rustle nearby. "Eep!" she squealed, covering her face with her hooves. When she looked up, she saw it was only a squirrel. "Whew," she sighed in relief. She scanned the trees to make sure Inferno wasn't there, and he wasn't.

Sorrow, right before she went into another nibble of the cupcake, suddenly felt jerked away, dropping the cupcake on the ground, and shutting her eyes. She hated going fast anywhere, which was a surprising ironic feeling since she was a pegasus...

 

Once she had stepped foot near the cabin, Sorrow was wide-eyed, her mane near to matted, and was shaking a bit.

Emerald sped into her cabin as fast as she could. She was freaked out, and did not want to talk to anypony. She picked a bed and put her suitcase on it. She wiped away the sweat from walking and started unpacking. Sadly, she looked at the note her mom gave her. "So far I'm not enjoying camp, mom..," she sighed. She buried her face in her pillow for a few minutes, and then continued unpacking.

Missy Splash

 

Missy grinned and levitated the violin into the air. She had had to lean super close to the mare and strain her ears to hear what she was saying, but made nothing of it. Some ponies were just quiet. "Star, huh? That's a pretty name." She said.

She turned to the mare who had introduced herself as Rai, "Nice to meet you, Rai and you too Star! My name's Missy Splash, but you can call me Missy!" She said. "Oh, looks like we're here." She said, as she halted in front of a large cabin with a scene of three colts playing catch on the side of it.

 

The donkey, Matted, trotted off only pausing to yell, "Don't forget to get settled and come to the middle of camp IMMEDIATELY. There are signs pointing to the middle." He then trotted off.

 

Lavender Pierce

 

When they arrived at the cabin, Lavender flung open the door and dumped her bags onto one of the beds nearest to the window and furthest from the bathroom. This was if any pony had a problem with hygiene she wouldn't have to deal with it, and if anything creepy came through the door she could just jump out of the window.

Emerald Wave wasn't very happy. She missed her sister, her parents, and her best friend. She gave a look of gloom towards the woods that surrounded the camp and began to walk alone to the middle of camp, following the signs. Emerald Wave really hoped that things would start to get better soon.

Sorrow was managing to balance the cupcake and the brush in her hoof, heading inside the cabin. She chose a bed that was far off to the other ones, but the closest to the bathroom as well. She set her bag down, and the cupcake on the bed, but went into the bathroom to re-adjust her hair, and then came back out.

Blaze almost ran into Emerald. "Oh sorry. Oh I met you earlier. I can't remember if I caught your name...?" Blaze was a little put down that neither Rosemary, Missy, or Art Streak were in his cabin. He didn't see why Missy had made a big deal about the cabins being unisex. It didn't matter either way to him.

Rose sighed heavily. No pony she knew was in her cabin, but she didn't really care either on the other hand. Maybe she could catch up on her reading anyways. 

 

She went into the cabin to put her things down, but stopped with a group of the other ponies, where she saw a yellow unicorn along with another pony, the shy zebra. Another pony was also there, and she announced that her name was Missy. The other two's names were Star and Rai.

 

"Hi girls, I'm Rose." She forced a smile, although she was hesitant. "How about that camp leader, huh?" She tried to start a conversation. It was true though, that donkey didn't seem to nice. She heard him bellow something about gathering at the middle of camp.

The group eventually reached the cabin and there was a brightly coloured picture painted on the side. Rai smiled slightly, the picture must have took a lot of hard work and effort to make it look that life like.

They all went inside the cabin and Rai walked over to a random empty bed and placed her bag down on it carefully. She then heard one of the other ponies speak, introducing herself as Rose and trying to strike up a conversation. Rai looked at her, unintentionally giving her a cold glare.

"Well, he may have dealt with some other stroppy fillies and colts in their teens, I doubt many people would want to come here, but I agree that he may have been a bit too grumpy." She replied

"Oh, sorry, I'm Emerald Wave," she said, giving a long sigh. "I know you're disappointed that the pretty girls aren't with you. Sadly, you'll be stuck with a tomboy." She stared at her hooves sadly. "I don't know your name, could you please tell me?" she asked, not looking up. 'Night Star, I miss you,' she thought.

The group walked up to their cabin, where a fanciful picture was painted on the side. It reminded her of the amateur paintings her mother used to make when she was a filly. It was a forest scene, but if you looked hard enough, there appeared to be cacti in the background.

 

The pony called Rai looked over at her harshly, even though the others seemed to respond nicely. She seemed to agree with her statement, but she didn't sound particularly happy about it.

 

Rose stepped inside the cabin, picking the bed in the back corner. It was quite a ways away from the other beds. Rose mumbled to herself, too quiet for anypony else to hear. "Good, peace and quiet, nopony to bother me." 

 

Once it seemed all the other ponies were set up, Rose took a few steps towards the door. "Shall we be going?"

Blaze looked puzzled at the mare. Did I say something? He shrugged to himself and smiled at Emerald. "Haha don't be so hard on yourself. It's not like your bad looking or anything. Not that I would care either way Anyway I guess we're in the same cabin. Glad to see I've at least met one of my cabin mates. I'm Blaze Finder by the way." He smiled again and looked towards cabin 3. "Are we supposed to be heading there now?"

Star remained quiet as the other's talked.

She followed them into the cabin and placed her stuff by the bed in the middle of the room.
She looked around for Missy and gulped. She hesitantly walked over and looked at her violin...then back to Missy. "C-Could...I get my v-v-violin?" She asked, shuffling her hooves and looking down at the ground bashfully.

Emerald Wave nodded. She looked up. "Nice to meet you, Blaze!" Emerald Wave took his hoof happily and scampered to where the signs pointed. 'Atleast I have one friend now!' she thought. 'I'll have to meet the others, though. But this is a start. Now don't let your ADHD get out of hand!' she told herself.

As Rose was assembling her bed, she saw the shy Zebra come in. She only just noticed that the strange pony was winged, it was very odd. She had only seen a few zebras in her life, let alone one with wings! The Coffee House wasn't very popular among creatures other than plain ponies, so it was a rarity to see anyone out of the ordinary working pony.

 

She thought about trying to talk to the pony again, but didn't want to make her feel crowded or more nervous. She felt bad for her, as she was the last pony into the cabin and got the odd bed, the one that was a few feet away from any wall, right in the middle.

Missy Splash

 

"Hi, Rose!" She placed her things along with Star's violin carefully on her bed near the door. She decided to unpack later and just head to the middle of camp now. "Oh!" She laughed when Star asked for her violin. "Here you go!" She said, handing it to her.

 

"Hopefully, that donkey will be a lot nicer when we get to the campfire. Or maybe we'll finally get to meet Bubbly Fizz." She said as she trotted after Rose. She stopped and turned back to Rai and Star, "Want me to wait for you guys?"

 

 

Lavender Pierce

 

After shoving her bags under her bed, Lavender trotted into the bathroom to check her mane really quick, only to find that another pony was in there. It was the seemingly anti social black filly from before. Lavender hmmed, and approached her carefully. I may as well make some friends... But before she could say anything the filly left. Lavender grumbled under her breath, fixed her mane and trotted out of the cabin. She could find a friend later. She headed towards the middle of the camp.

Blaze followed Emerald. He casually let go of her hoof, he felt awkward when mares did that. He thought about who else was i his cabin. Fire Sky, Rag, and Tag.  Rag and Tag must be those twins. Fire Sky might be the mare that made a pretty cool entrance. They don't seem too bad. Yet. Blaze found the cabin and walked inside. He placed his saddlebags on a random bed and turned back to Emerald. "Hey Em, I think we're supposed to head to the middle of camp after this."

"Okay, sorry about holding your hand, it's... I grew a habit of doing that when Night Star and I ran from... The murderer," she explained awkwardly. She gave him a faint smile. She began to trot towards the center of the camp next to Blaze Finder.

 

When they arrived, they saw a lot of ponies already there. She waved and walked towards them.

Star took her violin. "Thank you." She  said, But like before, it was barely audible.
She walked over to her bed and looked at a small empty space on the wall.
The beds were all rather light so she managed to push it against the wall, muttering something about not liking her back to an open room.
She then began placing her bags below it, making sure everything fit nicely and was easily accessible.

Blaze nodded. "You didn't have to tell me that. It seems like a bad part of your life." He looked around and saw Art Streak. He smiled at Emerald. "See ya around." Blaze trotted over to the purple pegasus he had talked to earlier. "Hey there. Your drawing of me was awesome by the way. Sucks that we didn't get the same cabin. You seem pretty cool."

Blaze chuckled and nodded. "That's an optimistic way of putting it. If you don't mind me asking, why do you sit on clouds so much?" He thought it was a little weird that she always sat on a cloud. Was it a pegasus thing? Most pegasi lived in Cloudsdale, so maybe since Blaze was from Trottingham, it wasn't something he did.

Emerald Wave waved and sat alone. She watched them talk and wished Night Star was right beside her. She wished she was better at socializing, but it was too confusing for her to understand. 'At least Night Star was easier to talk to. Here I feel kind of awkward.' She stared into space at the woods. She began to sing a song under her breath.

 

"As I seep into the blackest void of all, I'm nothing, and I am no one. As I sleep I hear them creeping down the hall. They're nothing, they're all gone. But it's okay to be afraid when you're staring face to face with time that's gone to waste. And it's okay to hide away to overcome the fears that ruin other days." Emerald remembered how much of a good singer Symphony said she was, but Emerald never believed her. She sighed and tried to remember the last time she heard herself sing on tape.

 

She played her voice in her head. It sounded... Actually decent. Emerald Wave smiled. The song she had sang that day was the same one she had just been singing under her breath, Our Special Place by The Queenstons.

Blaze shook his head. "No I've never really done that before. I'm from Trottingham, so I don't really know much things that only pegasi can do. I know we can walk on clouds and stuff, but I've never really just sat on one...." Blaze looked at the ground. Maybe I should move to Cloudsdale when I grow up... Nah Trottingham's probably better. Plus I would definitely be seen as a foreigner cuz of my accent. Ah well.

Sorrow didn't even realize it at first, but everyone in the cabin was already gone... They all went out to be in the middle of the camp, but Sorrow didn't know she also had to be in the middle of the camp... She just sat on her bed, opening up her notebook and turning to the letter that she had almost lost... She had three items that were important to her: That letter, the notebook, and the bear... If any of those were ruined or lost...

 

She gulped. She didn't want to think about it.
