Chronicles of a Critic - By The Ponyville Critic Prologue - South Bruchellia: Night Final Draft is going to kill me for not starting this sooner. It's now night-time in a foreign land and I'm convinced that my zebra companion doesn't want to either kill me or eat me , so that's always a good sign. Anyhoof, my journey is going rather well, I've learned a few things about zebra culture, though I haven't gotten to the sensitive topics yet. You're probably wondering how I got to this place with the people to whom I'm referring and why I'm going to do what I'm about to do , well, it all started about 4 months ago, I was exploring the uncharted regions of Pantheria, in the desert, I hadn't packed enough water, and you can guess what happened... -4 Months ago- Eastern Pantheria: Day It was mid-day, probably, the heat of the sun overpowering my senses and forcing me to take shelter. I found a small shrine of some sort, decrepit and forgotten, just as I had gotten my breath back, the ground below me collapsed, leaving me falling towards the darkness, just before I hit what I assumed to be ground, I heard the snap of a rope, it had tangled around my back leg somewhere along the way down. Lucky me. I was trapped, no way of getting down, I had to think fast before I passed out. I tried to pull myself up the rop to untie it but I'm not a unicorn and unfortunately, I'm not that flexible. I tried calling a (bat?) over to me to make it chew the rope. I was feeling light-headed, just when I thought I was going to black out, the rope snapped and I fell head-first into the hard concrete floor. Yes, concrete, I felt around me, it was unmistakebly concrete, after about 2 minutes fumbling with a fire-making kit, a lit a torch, all around me, there were thousands, and thousands.....of books. I had stumbled into an old library of some sort, dusty books lining the old, wooden and rotten shelves. Most of the books had long since lost their bindings, and those that had covers were of a different language. Non-Equestrian, and not a language I had ever seen before, since I had no immediate reason to leave, I lit a conveniently placed candle and sat down at a stone table so the book was illuminated by it's dim glow. I pulled a few documents out of my saddlebags, studies on ancient languages, I found no matches. It was an undiscovered language. I wondered, had I just discovered something? I put everything back and went exploring a bit to find out just what I had stumbled upon, the shape, the architecture, it was undeniably the biggest discovery of my life-time.....the lost library of Alexandripaw. If I was able to prove the existence of one of the most infamous sources of lost knowledge in the history of the world, it would have made my career as an adventurer, I would be remembered for ages to come. But I wasn't after the fame, all I wanted was the thrill of seeing spectacular sights and stunning scenery. And who knew what kind of wisdom is contained within those books. So I left with a couple of books in my saddlebags, and returned to Aexandripaw to get on my plane back to Equestria. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Anneal 2,193 November 1, 2013 Share November 1, 2013 I wonder how Ponyville was able to build itself and develop in a quarantine zone when basically all of Equestria is in anarchy and there are still undead zombies possibly lingering outside their walls. Logically, if a zombie apocalypse occurred, it would take way more than nine years to totally eradicate the virus, or bacteria, or fungi. And literally, fighting a zombie infection is ten times worse than fighting AIDS, or the influenza in the early 20th century, or the smallpox back in the colonial ages. It would take decades, even centuries, to totally extinguish the undead. Also, the damage dealt by the issue is probably going to stay for some time.
