One friend did and we're not friends anymore. That's not the only reason we stopped being friends but it was one of them since as soon as he was allowed to, he wanted to drink every chance he got. Got quite annoying real quick. I hope your ex friend has stopped since. I was the same when I first started drinking alcohol before I was even legal age. My wake up call was getting put in the ER, and feeling humiliated afterwards as I received some strong but caring advice from the healthcare workers. It’s poison. I don’t even know why I liked it. Only good for making you feel sick the next day.
Clawdeen 12,188 June 26, 2022 Share June 26, 2022 I’ve not touched alcohol in months. I had a bad day at work. Came home a drank a bunch of wine. That was the sickest I’d ever been. It actually scared me. So I swore I’d never drink like that again And I haven’t. Don’t really have a desire to touch it 2 *On Wednesdays We Wear Pink And Betray The Organization*
ComanderZhabikKlavik 2,741 August 1 Share August 1 I have never drunk alcohol and I never will. Alcohol leads to degradation, illness and early death. My grandfather used to drink vodka. Now it is hard for him to walk, sometimes he falls. All his friends died of alcoholism long ago. 1 2 T-
Dreambiscuit 9,555 August 5 Share August 5 My view on it is a dim one, at least where excess is concerned. I don’t mind a little sip of wine here and there, but not in any great volume. Drinking to excess is a badly paved road to nowhere, guaranteed to alienate one from family and friends, court injury and death of self or others, and present a bottomless hole into which money is endlessly poured in the vain hope of keeping the buzz going. Eventually it just becomes a matter of getting the quickest, easiest gratification. And the rewards too easily get old and familiar, making it harder to become satisfied. To make things worse, most alcoholic beverages I’ve tried taste like Billy-goat piss (please don’t ask me how I know that), and I can’t even see how anyone could tolerate it long enough to get addicted. I mean, it’s not exactly glamorous unless you’re an insecure teenager trying to impress friends by appealing to the lowest common denominator. Amazingly some people actually find the taste appealing, but lots of other things taste good and don’t have the downsides of alcohol. Go out and have a nice ice cream float or something instead ‘kay? This will conclude my rant. Have a nice day. 1
Usual Crypty 4,625 August 6 Share August 6 I'm OK with moderate alcohol consumption in general, but don't drink lately by several reasons. First reason is that I like to have possibility to go anywhere by car spontaneously. Second is that I'm working out and controlling my weight last months. Alcohol has a big impact on organism and adds too many random variables to the process.
mistrene 152 August 6 Share August 6 Don't need it to enjoy myself! Sometimes it's a great combination with specific food, taste-wise. Always drink with moderation of course. I rarely drink a beer when I get some good ramen or fried chicken. But I know when to stop and know my limits. My partner's in the AAF and sadly, problems with alcohol is quite an issue there..
Igloostellar Snow 1,207 August 6 Share August 6 It's quite harmful to the body. I've seen what it does to organs and people. (My sister's dad has diabetes now and is quite unhealthy.) His memory is not the best. Maybe he has Alzheimer's/dementia. Alcohol can do that to you. It's the only drug that can physically shrink your brain and cause you to lose up to eight IQ points! I wish it never existed, or at least was never used as a drink because it causes so many bad things to happen to people. Alcohol poisoning, fatty liver disease, heart diseases, digestive system issues! Of course, Alzheimer's itself. To those who do drink, I have no control over your actions, but PLEASE be safe and careful. Remember, alcohol is also a drug and can become addictive.
ThatFestivePone 1,937 August 6 Share August 6 I remember I accidentally drank some wine when I was 7, I thought it was water, easy to say, I spat it out instantly, I'm never gonna drink that stuff, why should I when there's chocolate milk to enjoy 1 1
Arrlong28 598 August 6 Share August 6 Alcohol, sporadically it's not a problem. Like one or two glasses for month with your friends doesn't hurt anybody. Now... the problem for me is that certain cultures tend to use alcohol a LOT and that drunkenness is "desired". Like Koreans or Japanese drink to "express themselves because their culture is very restrictive". (My apologies, but It's true) Don't get me wrong, remember that there's 3 different variations of Christianity in the Mediterranean Sea (Catholics in southern Europe, Orthodox in Greece and middle East and Orientals in Egypt) that have a very important ritual about "wine". As children we eat bread with wine and sugar... But there's not the idea of being drunk a good thing! (Maybe i'm a bit biased... Writing this I realized that...) Just... Drink with moderation. Or don't drink if you have tendency to alcoholism.
Finding_Marty 706 August 6 Share August 6 Yea, I drink alcohol when in a good company but I wouldn't miss it if one day it was gone for good... @Arrlong28 South Korea and Japan are very extreme examples. Tacodidra 61,016 August 6 Share August 6 I don't drink. But I have no problem with others doing so, as long as they don't harm others as a result of it (and being drunk is a poor excuse for anything). 4 Signature by @Sparklefan1234
Starlight Serenade 2,882 August 7 Share August 7 I don't enjoy drinking; I've tried it before and realized it's not for me. My past experiences at parties with people drinking have all been negative. While I have no issue with others drinking as long as they don't cause problems, I believe using drunkenness as an excuse for anything is unacceptable.
Fluttershutter 2,385 August 8 Share August 8 I honestly really hate it. The smell of it, the taste of it, society's obsession with it, how stupid it makes people.
Misty Shadow 7,798 August 8 Share August 8 I hardly ever drink, I have a mostly negative view of alcohol after having to grow up with both of my parents being fond of getting drunk, stupid, and abusive and hearing story after story about a relative or a friend of a relative ending up dead from alcohol abuse. Even drinking on New Years and having a beer at a restaurant every once in a blue moon just doesn't really catch my interest anymore. 2
Finding_Marty 706 August 8 Share August 8 I think we really should draw a line between enjoying 1-2 pints of cold yummy beer during a hot summer in a good company at the end of the day 1-2 times a week AND getting completely drunk and unconscious which after some time may cause, among others, liver cirrhosis Addictions and overdoses are never good no matter what it is (unless you mean hugs ). For example sunbathing is totally fine but if you overdeose... you know... melanoma is one of the most common tumors in humans, so please be careful no matter what you do 1 2 New friends (you)
IronM17 5,335 August 13 Share August 13 I drink from time to time (mostly when I am with my friends) a smal glas of met. And thats it. I am not a big fan of the taste of alcohol. I tried some drinks, but as soon as I tasted the alcohol, it started to annoy me.
returned_dragon 135 August 13 Share August 13 Only if there was absolutely no way of avoiding it i.e. drinking a toast at a state dinner or some equally unlikely scenario. At best, I would probably voluntarily try what they call 'small beer' which is vaguely similar in alcohol content to kombucha.
Treeglow Flicker 13,592 August 14 Share August 14 Okay in moderation. I very rarely drink and never used to until I wanted to answer a couple of questions that always played on my mind. "What is it actually like to feel drunk and what sort of drunk am I?" Turns out I'm the really happy type of drunk that is fun to be around. But I've only been drunk the once. But yeah. Experimentation aside, definitely a huge supporter of drinking responsibly.
Cash In 22,180 August 16 Share August 16 I don't drink often. I usually just opt to be the designated driver. If I do drink, I only have very little. 1 At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.
