qqq 217 September 1, 2013 Share September 1, 2013 (edited) Pondah slowly decelerated as he finished rolling down the hill. He coat glistened with the morning dew he'd collected during his decent. In just a moment, Pondah was in the town centre and facing towards the direction he believed could take him to the Grand Mareland. Pondah began walking down a street in search of any clues. His eyes settled on a flier stuck to a wall. It read: "Early bird special: Buy one breakfast and get a second absolutely FREE! Grand Mareland Hotel: Just right of La Casa de Bocadillos Offer available weekdays from 6am - 10am. Second breakfast must be of equal or lesser price than the first. The Elusive Cinder 1,328 September 1, 2013 Share September 1, 2013 "Oooh, I like those!" Mumbled the distracted mare as she wandered through the garden, stopping to smell some of the flowers and promptly tripping, tumbling through the flower bed. The garden didn't seem to have an entrance from what she could tell: she had clambered over the hedge surrounding it to gain entry and did the same again to leave. It was most inconvenient! Unbeknown to her, she had actually just passed through the decorative gardens behind her destination and was now steadily circling it whilst looking somewhat worse for wear. MLPForums Phanact 1,374 September 2, 2013 Share September 2, 2013 @, Bass pondered the response for a moment before asking, "Well, if we can't find anything you've trained to do... why don't we find you something you like to do?!" The stallion asked with quite a bit of enthusiasm for his idea. "I mean, heck, if I just did what I was trained to do, I'd still be in Canterlot handling Neuro patients... but I dropped out of Med school because I hated it." Rolling his eyes to the other side of the room, the pony then added, "My parents sure weren't happy about that, and basically cut me off.... I was on my own to make money, and for a while, I just played my bass in the park for some cash, but I finally saved up enough for my first mixer and got to work learning to make electronic music." He let a release of air out as he finished his monologue, and after a moment of recovering his breath, he asked. "So what'dya say, hm? I'm sure we can find something your cutie little flank likes to do. Other than me of course.." The unicorn grinned slyly at his dirty statement, and waited for a response. "HEY! What did I say, cheeky?" Bass' hooves were still firmly placed on Kaz's flank and he was making small circular movements with his hooves. "It's too early to be talking like that, save it for tonight, handsome." Kaz said with a flirty smile and a wink as Kaz placed his hooves crossed on his own chest. "I suppose I could try auditioning for some gig's maybe? Wait... Do you need any support acts for yours?" qqq 217 September 2, 2013 Share September 2, 2013 Armed with new information, Pondah now had two places he could search for but in the streets of Baltimare, things were getting busy and he needed another way to find the hotel and La Casa de Bocadillos. A waft of perfume from a nearby mare gave him the help he needed. 'Of course! Smell! This place should smell good from what I've heard about it. It's time to follow my nose.' Pondah sniffed around in the air for a lead. He was still sniffing as he wondered down the streets, picking up several dirty looks from Baltimare's elite. A gust of wind bought the lead Pondah desperately needed as a waft of basil infused air flew into him. With his nose high, Pondah began to chase down this lead. At it's end was a building that lit up Pondah's face. 'La casa de Bocadillos! I found it! And right next to it is... Symphony's Sensual Secrets... Ooer. I best get looking.' qqq 217 September 2, 2013 Share September 2, 2013 Pondah had broken back into a gallop as he headed left of La Casa de Bocadillos. He ran past several smaller resteraunts and cafés until he finally saw what he was after. At the end of street was the Grand Mareland hotel. All that lay between him and it was crowded street. 'I'll never be able to take a purely street-bound path. I'm going to have to take a cut through the bushes. It's more direct but may be painful.' Taking a deep breath, Pondah began to charge through the bushes using every ounce of strength he'd stored. The thick vegetation tried its hardest to cling to Pondah and hold him down but the urge to not be the loser spurred Pondah on. He erupted from the other side with a rose stuck to the fur on his neck and some particularly sticky green balls in his tail. 'One last push. I'll be there soon.' Starshine 16,329 September 3, 2013 Share September 3, 2013 (edited) Starshine once again trotted down the road, sulking. The brief trade with the armored jeweler was rather unproductive. Serious Sam 259 September 3, 2013 Share September 3, 2013 (edited) Now Rut-Light was faced with a personal dilemma; On one hoof he didn't want to cross the bridge because of the chance of it collapsing under the extreme weight, but he also didn't want to find another way around for two reasons: First of all, what if there was no 'other way' around to Baltimare Station? That would be a waist of valuable time. Finally if there was a second way then he would be even more late then he might already be. He sat there for about 2 minutes wracking his brain, trying to see if he can come to any conclusion at all, and as he neared his third minute of thinking he had come to a decision, looking back the patiently waiting flag pony he finally said with hesitation, "I'll cross the bridge, slowly of course." The other pony looked at him and nodded his head, "Very well then, but proceed with caution, I don't want to have the guilt of letting a locomotive as beautiful as this one falling down a ravine and getting permanently destroyed on my shoulders...good luck driver." Then the pony walked off and went back to talk to his co-workers. Rut-Light was now feeling nervous, and he never has while driving a train before; but now was different, this could easily be his last ride if he wasn't careful. "Come on Rut-Light, screw your nerves together and deliver the mail train." With that in his head he slowly moved the Regulator to 21% throttle and turned the brass Reverser until it was in the position to go forward, finally with dignity and courage in his heart he turned on the sander and released the train brakes. "Lets move." He gave the whistle two long tugs and the train started moving, albeit slowly. The locomotive was moving at a slow pace and was about to go on the bridge when Rut-Light took a chance and increased the Regulator to 23%, as the train was starting to cross the bridge the old wood started to groan and creak like it was upset. "Come on! We have to push on!" Rut-Light gave the whistle a good long tug for 3 seconds and then let go, hearing that sound gave him hope, and over all; a good feeling. The 4-4-0 locomotive was halfway across the bridge and Rut-Light thought he would make it, until disaster struck. Another one of the wooden supports began to shift then suddenly *CRACK*, the support split under the immense pressure. Rut-Light began to panic beyond what he could handle and shouted, "NO! No no no no no no! Come on my lady! Pull with all your might, you can do this." He shuttled the throttle to 100% percent and the train lurched forward and went faster with each wheel rotation, putting all of its power into pulling the heavy load across the length of the bridge safely. The bridge started collapsing on the side side he came from, and it was headed straight for the train, the entire train was in danger of falling into the ravine. Rut-Light looked behind him and gasped in shock at the sight, "Oh crap! Lets move!" He throttled the Regulator until it could go no more and fully released the brakes, the train seemed to come to life and began to pull harder and harder until the entire train and coaches have successfully made it off the bridge in one piece with nothing but a very panicked pony in the train cab. Despite how stressed he felt, Rut-Light was damn proud of himself and the train, after a while he let out an enthusiastic yell, "WOOOHOOOOO!!!" To calm himself down he gave the whistle rope 2 pulls; each at least 3 seconds long. He massaged the side of the locomotive and whispered, "Lets go home my lady."
