Grades

The grading system in Russia uses numbers 2 to 5:

  • 2, Β«Π½Π΅ΡƒΠ΄ΠΎΠ²Π»Π΅Ρ‚Π²ΠΎΡ€ΠΈΜΡ‚Π΅Π»ΡŒΠ½ΠΎΒ» β€”"fail", an F
  • 3, Β«ΡƒΠ΄ΠΎΠ²Π»Π΅Ρ‚Π²ΠΎΡ€ΠΈΜΡ‚Π΅Π»ΡŒΠ½ΠΎΒ» β€”a "just about satisfactory" mark, something like a C minus
  • 4, Β«Ρ…ΠΎΡ€ΠΎΡˆΠΎΜΒ» β€”a "good" mark, similar to a B
  • 5, «отли́чно»—an "excellent" mark, an A

Hej Caps :muffins:

Vauxhall is a car brand and is also associated with stations.

Is it a corruption of Volks Halle? Which sort of fits with the station building idea.

Maybe a myth that when the Russians visited England and were taken from Westminster to look at the new fangled railways and were taken across the river to see a railway station and they asked "what is this (building)?" And the reply was "Vauxhall" as they were stood in the station of the area of Vauxhall.

Β

It wouldn't be the first time similar has happened. Suit in Japanese "sabiro" is a corruption of Saville Row the famous tailors street in London
