Welcome to Camp Equestria, where nature is our BEST friend.
Here at camp Equestria, we try hard to bring our fellow ponies closer to good ol' Mother Nature, by spending time in the beautiful Equestrian mountains. Cabins are assigned by our staff and they are split for mares, and Stallions.

Rules-
-keep it PG-13 (but there are SOME acceptions)
-Don't over do the Drama
-no drugs
-you may use alcohol but don't over use it
-no god modding
-no Mary/Gary sues/steus
-no grim dark or clop scenario
-no controlling ANYPONY unless you are given permission by other person
-no killing one another, unless given permission by other person
-no alicorns a no Acceptions
-no extremely powerful magic (ex:explotion magic)
-speaking of explosions, NO NUKES
-no extreme change in scenario or plot twists unless given permission by DM (me)
-if you have sexual relations with one another one you need permission by other person, the DM (me), and DO NOT DETAIL IT WE DON'T WANT TO KNOW
-no changelings, dragons or other powerful antagonist creature
-you are definitely ABLE to be a griffon, or crystal pony
-this is free world, so have fun and follow Da Rules
oh, and Tell me if you feel that the RP is dying

It's a little of both, you may do what you want but I will do certain things to change it up and what not, but most people in other role plays usually make their own plots for themselves while the DM just organizes everything like the time of day the setting etc.

That is one way of doing it.  It puts it in the "open world" section.  I've run RPs before as well, and if you want to control a story line the best way is to control a player character and most NPC's the players encounter.  This allows you to naturally (without divine intervention) direct the flow of the RP and guide it.

 

Anyways... so this really tells me that it's more of: do I want to RP with these individuals?

It's a Romance/Slice of Life.  Not every mare has to be paired up with one stallion.  There could be two mares to one stallion (or vice versa), or whatever pony can decide that they don't want a "love interest" if their character doesn't see anything they like.
