 So, i am doing this project for school about fandoms. I have to name atleast 30-50 fandoms and i can only think of ten. I have tried searching on the internet, however, i have had no luck. So hopefully, this proves more fruitful.

That's all I have. I know for a fact that there are hundreds of fandoms out there, but unfortunately I can only name four.

Marvel and DC have 'fandoms' of a sort, but I'm not sure they qualify as they're more umbrella fandoms that contain several sub-fandoms. DC Animated Universe has a definite fandom.

 

Under that same 'umbrella' fandom definition, you could list the various genre-based fandoms like Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror, Noir, Mystery, Sword-and-Sandal, Animation, etc. as separate fandoms. Someone can be a fan of a genre and not narrow it down further.  

 

There used to be relatively big fandoms for Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, Babylon 5, and Battlestar Galactica (for both the old series and the new one), as well as Sherlock Homes. I'm not sure how active those fandoms are anymore or whether they just got absorbed into the bigger genre fandoms. For that matter Elric of Melnibone, Gor, and some others of the like used to have distinct fandoms but are effectively defunct now.

 

Oh, and the Firefly fandom are called 'Browncoats' generally.

 

Under comics there's a small fandom for Usagi Yojimbo that is independent of the Furries.

 

Oh, and of course the Middleearth fandom.

 

If you count 'Furry', you should probably count 'Cyberpunk', 'Steampunk', the lesser known 'Dieselpunk' but they straddle the line between fandom and subculture.

 

Now that I think of it, I think you may need to *define* the concept of fandom first. There's a lot of things that might count, or might not, depending on your definition.
