Ever been in the Deep Web?

Occasionally (just 4chan's /a/ board). I watch an anime franchise in which there's no regular discussion outside of LiveJournal and 4chan's /a/ board. I try not to get involved in the more...infamous...acts and boards on 4chan.

I've touched the surface of it, but mark my words, tread carefully.

There's some messed up stuff you'd with you'd never seen.

Granted that I'm a law abiding citizen, I'm not going to go in there except for the occasional 4chan spree.

I hear there's plenty of illegal stuff, even places to hire a hitman. That is some scary shit right there.

4chan isn't part of the deep web, though it's about as toxic as you can get before "going deeper" and entering the darknet/deep web.

I never been in there, but I watch a series of video by SomeOrdinaryGamers, which Mutahar browses the Deep Web and discover tons of fucked up shit like secrets and weird sites, he even discovered a FIMfiction fanfictions archive site, which proves there's even bronies lurking in there.

I saw that. When the page came up, I thought to myself, "Wait, that book looks like..." and then had to contain my laughter, as it was two in the morning. I just wish he managed to get in.

Oh, well then I can say I've been to the border but never entered the deep web.

Yup. Lots of sick shit on there.

You can also buy drugs and hire hitmen with just a few clicks..

I don't even really know how to find it lol. Which is probably a good thing

Yeah, you need special software to even start poking around in there. As well as the fact that you could really get a computer infected from rooting through sites like that.

In that way, the Darknet is a little bit like Jersey Shore, even if you just dabble, you're going to catch something you really didn't want to catch.

I do browse Reddit and 4chan on occasion, mostly out of pure curiosity of the community, and well, hey- It's a learning experience.

I just downloaded the Onion Browser app on my iPhone a few minutes, Google was in another language, I didn't know any URL's >_>

I'm gonna try again someday, I'm just worried if my phone will get hacked while I'm on it or something...

Don't use that. Seriously. Get Tor or TAILS for desktop. Nothing that lets you access the darknet on mobile is safe to use.

Dude above me obviously didn't look hard enough.

Yeah, I've been to the deep web a few times. I've never bought anything though, I have just been looking around a bit. Looked some at Silk Road to see what they had. Looked some at a couple of normal sites too. And some other... weird video sites. Unless you're a criminal it's kind of boring tbh since everything fun exists on the surface too. Torture vids and shit can easily be found on the normal web

One of my friends goes there quite often, he's a mega computer-nerd who spends all days programming and testing out networks and shit. He does absolutely not have an illegal website where people can sell stolen technology. And I did never ever visit a lolicon site cause that'd be just wrong..

Those are not a part of the deep web though. You can't access the deep web just by browsing the internet normally.

I was never really disturbed either. And I looked pretty hard.

From what I understand, you can't just google search for sites on the deepnet, you need the actuall URLs, and many of those places are invite only who don't offer any explanation of what they are at the log-in screen. Its the part of the internet that all the drug trafficing and CP happens on.

I mean, I'm sure there must be somethings on the deepnet that arn't criminal. I'm just saying that if something criminal is happening on the internet and the people know a thing or two about computers, than its happening on the deep net.

I actually made a few, uh, transactions back in the day in such places.

I'll say this; you can certainly find whatever it is that you're looking for, but you're gonna have to go through stuff you didn't even want to know existed first.

If I understood well, "deep web" is the part of the Internet that cannot be crawled by search engines. This does not necessarily include only pages that require you to use anonymization software or some kind of proxy. It can be also, for example, pages protected by some authentication system.

Strictly speaking, your email could be considered deep weeb. And also the forum sections of this place that require a minimum amount of posts to access. That being said, there are still different degrees of "deepness".

Yes and never again!

I found a site on there called the Hidden Wiki that was basically this Pandora's Box of horrors and terrors.

(No, I will not post the .onion link to it)

I will NEVER go back on the Deep Web ever again!

Hell nah. I don't want to click the wrong link and have CP fly up in 9999 different windows and then have SWAT immediately swarm my house from all sides and shower me in pepper spray. Or have like 9999 viruses pop up and some hacker find where I live and come kidnap me and film him eviscerating me for other browsers of the deep web to see

If I ever go on that shit I'm trekking to the middle of the Himalayas to browse it

BTW, this guy is hilarious, since we're talking about the deep web

Yes, I have. Well, according to my parents. They think the internet is mostly dangerous. They think talking to people you don't know via the internet is a bad thing. But then there's forums, and this one even includes a rule not to make accounts from the same area, which means that this forum is not for talking to your siblings or parents, or not much else you know. My parents grounded me from Skype, but when I live in my own house, I'll Skype whoever the heck I want. So I've only been in the deep web according to my parents. In my opinion, I don't think the internet is dangerous. The only ways that the internet might cause damage is that if I download a deadly virus, or if someone I don't know asks me for my personal information and then I happen to be stupid enough to answer with my personal info.

I briefly used it because I was planning on searching for...well, I don't even know what I was searching for. But I decided to stop using it quite quickly due to the fact that most of the "good" sites I'd heard about didn't seem to be available anymore, and it was far, faaar too easy to blunder onto some less savory stuff - illegal images, drugs, extremely explicit and illegal videos...

Poeple using those sort of thigns are highly monitored, unless a proxy is used - and i decided not to risk stumbling upon some dodgy stuff.

Deep Web? I AM THE DEEP WEB. No but for realsies, i wouldnt touch the deep web even if you could access it by searching google. Who needs to buy illicit drugs online when you have ponies(and when there are drug dealers right behind your local convenience store)? Who needs hitmen when karma catches up to your enemies? Besides, the government now owns the deep web....i think. I saw something on Machinima where the owner of that one website that sold guns, drugs and killers was caught by the fbi and all his assets were seized.

Plus if you go on the deep web some really horrible people can track you through your I.P. address. Which isnt hard to do thanks to apps.

Heck no.

I've read news articles and seen a few YouTube videos about the deep web. Just reading and hearing about some of the things that go on in there made my blood run cold. That was more than enough to convince me that I NEVER want anything to do with it.

Curiosity should never overrule common sense. Some things just shouldn't be messed with and this is one of them.

I haven't been on there due to no technological skills keeping me from getting hacked but from looking at screenshots and youtube videos it looks just like the internet,

but with very very very NSFW websites. Child porn, snuff movies, black market, website that showcases many very detailed profiles and nude photos of unsuspecting girls who've been hacked.
