I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not...

On the chance that you're not; you heard a hoax, sorry.

Why wouldn't there be an episode about Derpy? That seems a lil rude, to just leave her out. She may not be part of the mane six but she's still important. I mean, they have an episode for Mr and Mrs Cake, and they aren't mane characters, but obviously they're still important.

After the whole "Derpy Incident" it's unlikely she will ever have her own episode. When asked at a panel (I think at San Diego Comic con) Tara Strong (I think that's who it was) confirmed Derpy will not get a speaking role at least in Season 3.

Yeah, Amy Keating Rodgers said that when the controversy blew up she was concerned for the fate of the character.

I'm glad we downloaded the pre-ban version of The Last Roundup before it was pulled from iTunes.

There's nothing "rude" about the crew choosing not to write an episode focused on a particular fictional character. Also, she's not really that important. Like... at all.

There has never been a Mr. and Mrs. Cake episode. They are side characters, as opposed to background characters, so do get some highlights, but that is it. If you meant Babycakes, that was a Pinkie Pie episode.

Be reasonable folks, the show will always rotate around the mane 6, Spike and the CMC, as it should be. Even Luna Eclipsed was a Twilight episode.

As much of a neat idea as it may sound to have the show flush out the side and background characters and play to the fans wants, it would Completely ruin the show. You don't retool a working formula, there is too much risk of things going horribly wrong.

Be happy with the little shout outs to the bronies they give us and don't ask for them to do more. I would like to see the show to make it to at least season 5.

Sticking stubbornly to a formula just because it has had success in the past is a real easy way to get into a rut. I don't think an episode centering on side-characters would ruin the show. In fact, it could make for a very memorable and interesting episode.

Edit: However, it has been pretty much confirmed that Derpy will not get any more speaking roles ever since the big incident.

Every show will eventually jump the shark, I do not expect the show to last forever. A bit of cartoon 101, back during the 80's it was common to have a very large cast, much of this was part of the marketing tied into the show as each character would have their own toy and through the series every character would be featured, even if it was even just one episode, while the rest were rotated periodically with a few having more memorable moments than others. While this was great for advertising, this did not make for great story telling and television.

Show creators have learned over time that a small cast for a show to focus on allows for character development and for the audience to build a better connection to the characters. This does leave room for side characters to be introduced and even share the spot light with the main cast from time to time, but the main cast will always have presence. FiM has been doing this, much like other modern shows airing these days.

Having some episodes that bring some light to background character is not a bad idea, if done right, but such episodes will have members of the mane 6, or the CMC, present as they need to be, even if it just one or two them, in every episode.

Oh, there are a wealth of characters they could pull on for a 'lower decks' episode... and it could make for an interesting change of pace for the creators, and maybe allow the main VAs to take some time off. The mane six may show up, but really aren't needed.

Or we could see something like that Simpsons episode where they did all sorts of little stories about all sorts of characters, as a day progressed.

As far as large casts to sell more toys goes... *looks at fandom* We buy toys of the background ponies anyway, and ANY in-show 'official characterization' of them will make SOMEONE unhappy, either because someone says it's offensive (derpygate) or more likely because someone's personal interpretation of a character has been ruined.
