My first GTA was Vice City. And for a long time that was the only one I played and managed to beat. I dabbled with San Andreas for a while but I haven't beat it until recently (in preparation for GTA V). Ah, Vice City, so many good memories, so many fun references !

Childhood? Nah, I wasn't allowed to play those games until mid-teenagerdom. That said, a friend with his copy of GTA III, and my subsequent copy of San Andreas occupied me for much of that era.

It was way back in kindergarten (no joke), when one of the interns actually brought his PS2 and played it on the big screen, in the main hall, surrounded by little kids. And we were what, 6-7 years old at that time? That was freakin' awesome!

You played the GTA games? Wow, I never would've expected that you used to be such a violent gamer.

 

OT: Seems like almost everyone I know plays or has played them at some point in their life. I'm personally just not a fan of the violent, graphic, and chaotic games like that. The game series just ultimately screams anarchy. That's just my opinion though.

I got my hands on GTA: Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories when I was 10 or 11 and had a PSP. I guess I could call that my childhood.

I liked San Andreas the best, it had a lot of customization for it's time.

I play GTA 3 and Vice City on my iPod, because all the other games on the market suck
Though, now that GTA 5 is out, that game is the fucking bomb. It's so fun, 3 characters to control, so much to do, a huge world, and everything seems so realistic :3

But, I have to say my first GTA game was Vice City...but I wasn't really a child anymore (I think I was 14-15), and later on we got San Andreas, and we recently bought GTA V. I usually fly around on the planes or get on top of cars on the freeway as I shoot the cops behind me.

Grand Theft Auto III. That's how I found the series, it's how I left it. Back then, I had no idea what 'wasted' meant and thought it was pronounced 'wah-stid'. Same with busted, except I knew how it's pronounced but I still said 'boosted.'

 

Then after five years of playing and consecutive overheating of a PS2, I took time off the series, dealing with other business.

I got Grand Theft Auto IV two months after it was released (I didn't keep up back then), and I happened to stick with it and get Episodes from LC.

And so Grand Theft Auto V was announced in 2011. Then everyone died.

As much as I love sandbox games I never liked the GTA series that much for personal reasons... I played liberty city stories on  the psp for a bit but not that long. Never really appealed to me the games to be honest.
