He wants to seem like a decent guy to people he doesn't know or even attempt to make amends with others for now, so he could fulfill his own selfish goal. But, he constantly goes out of his way to antagonize and creep people out, which in my opinion defeats the purpose of looking like a decent guy. And he knows this because of the reactions from other people about his antics, but still he keeps on doing it. He has once or twice tried to make amends for his actions, but that kind of goes out the window. I'm not saying I don't like the character, but there's a ton of inconsistent behavior between what he does. His knowledge of society is sketchy at best. At this point, he actually hasn't tried to antagonize people, but he is doing it unintentionally.
