The MLP:FiM ponies in particular are very human in very key areas. For starters, pay close attention to the shape of their heads. Not only are their heads very round, their eyes are very close to not just one another but are also close to the nose and mouth. Another thing about their eyes is that they're stereoscopic meaning both eyes are at the front instead of on the side. While you can say that all that was done to make the ponies look cute, it invariably made them appear more human as well. For real-life ponies, the exact opposite is true. See, the eyes are on to the side and are pretty far apart from each other as well as the nose and mouth. The shape of the head is far from round. Horses look less foal-ish so those features are more exaggerated. Next is about empathze or "tuning in". With the ponies of FiM, that tends to happen easily given they express themselves in very much the exact same ways as humans do. Found a nice gif to illustrate this: That's where it comes down to; communication. Communication is critical in relationships and that's kind of an understatement. Both verbal and non-verbal. That was only addressing what our senses can even pick up! You see, when you withhold information, people have the freedom to fill in the blanks themselves and more often than not, they'll fill it with something that'll better suit their tastes. In other words, what do the FiM ponies have between their legs? Anything that doesn't get you turned off, essentially. See, clop artists fill in the blank with whatever floats the boat of those they draw for. With real equines, that luxury simply does not exist which inevitably makes it far more likely that someone's going to get grossed out should they dare to look. Here's another thing we don't sense from the FiM ponies: smell. That's yet another blank people won't fill in with something that'll turn them off. The mere existence of colognes and perfumes testify to the importance of smell in sexual attraction. Pheromones and all that. Again, with real equines, that luxury does not exist. Our brains aren't going to recognize the scents of real equines, so our human brains won't automatically relate the scents with anything resembling a potential partner. Supposedly, horses can smell like hay, herbs, something resembling sweat or foods. Still, the smell of hay, herbs and food does not at all sound enticing. Pleasant maybe but not enticing. Oh and I forgot to mention that it's only if they are not dirty. I don't think I want to know what a dirty horse smells like... So yeah... don't go comparing these cartoon horses to the real ones. It took me a while to realize that it was actually about sex, but it didn't really bother me. I kept playing. Figures you wouldn't like it if you don't like the perverted part of it. But is that enough reason to hate the game? I think hate is a strong word. I don't like Anime that much, but just because I don't like it, doesn't mean that I hate it.
