Anypony know anything about naming?

I cannot for the life of me come up with a name for the main character of the story I'm writing. If anypony here has actual skills and knowledge to match my lack thereof, some naming ideas would be most appreciated!

Here's what he looks like (I made this with the pony creator; I can't draw)

Basically, he's an explorer who has been all over the world, he's older than Mane 6 age but not by too much. He much prefers to be alone in the wild than in a town or city. When he has to talk to other people, he tries to get to the point as fast as possible. While he seems rude and boring, he actually gets giddy as a colt upon the discovery of some new place or creature; he just makes sure there's nopony else around to see him.

I want to stress that he does not exude melancholy, and is not brooding or angsty, like far too many OCs are. He is practical and polite, but not friendly, he has no dark past or secret, he just enjoys being outside, far from civilization. The first name I came up with was Brazen Explorer, upon which I realized that name is stupid, and also he's not brazen.

So basically any input or ideas are welcome.

Something like...Compass Guide

 

Or maybe Voyager 

 

Maybe even Compass Courageous.

Those are all very good. I definitely like Voyager.

I don't really know any synonyms for compass, it being a noun and all...

 

Play off a famous explorer's name, and make a pony pun of it.
