Who was your FIRST favorite pony?

I was chatting with a friend recently about their first avatar, and ended with the conclusion that Fluttershy was their first favorite pony. Coincidentally, so was mine (wait for it), which made me think...what is the first thing that most of us look for in a favorite pony, and what do we value more? When I first started the show, Fluttershy was my favorite because she was the kindest of them all and was adorable and sweet (Coco's a little similar to her). Heck, even Discord couldn't corrupt her without poking her head to let the magic happen.

 

But eventually, we learn more about other characters and realize there's more to a favorite pony than who's the most kind, and so we probably go through some phases in which we have a different pony as our favorite for a certain period of time. I've definitely grown fond of Pinkie Pie with her energetic, bouncy, crazy antics..gah!

 

 

How about you? Unfortunately I limited the choices to the mane 6 and Princess Celestia since we see these characters the most and so it's unlikely that you were to like a different pony at first besides these folks. And Spike is not a pony...buuut, I think I'll throw him in there anyways.

Well when I first started watching the show, my favorite was Spike because I thought his crush on Rarity was adorable and hilarious. Now it's Pinkie Pie, I still like Spike as a character, I'm just not a fan of most of his episodes.

I vote RD first because ive been a huge fan of pegasi ponies from the start, she was the closest thing to the first pony I fell in love with, which was Firefly.

 

Nowadays it appears Twilight has grown on me hehe.

Applejack, it has always been Applejack but the only difference now is that Luna and Twilight are now tied with Applejack but I do tend to fanboy over Applejack a bit more because of how underrated she is and tend to favor her in polls for the same reason.

I've only had two favorite ponies ever. Those being RD and Pinkie Pie. RD was my favorite originally, I just thought she was awesome!

Very excellent question there.

 

For me, I believe it was mostly the adorable factor and the many fan videos, arts, and music that was in at the time that made fluttershy my all time favorite.

 

But within the more I see the show, my taste changed till I liked EVERY pony at least once during those times.

 

Luckily, I finally found her, and since then, she has been my #1 best pony since last year.....

Applejack has always been my favorite, but Twilight was a really close second. I don't like Twilight as much anymore, and Rarity has taken second place for me. Still, I've been with AJ from the start.

Rainbow Dash. My first episode was read it and weep. If it weren't for Dashie's tomboyishness or had I picked another episode as my first I may very well have not became a brony.

Hurricane Fluttershy

Equestria Girls

 

Everything Else in order

 

EQG was right after Hurricane Fluttershy, though, and that made Rarity my favorite

 

It's still kind of hard for me to fathom that I've been a Brony longer than I've been a Rarity fan, even if it's only by a couple of hours

At first, I was a dashie, I was at My Little Brony before I watched the show. I grew more fond of Twilight because of my likenesses to her, particularly her earlier self.

I've talked about this a bit before, but I immediately took a liking to Rarity. 

 

Part of it was how I was introduced to the show; TV Tropes, so I read the character descriptions and approved of what I saw. Secondly, I have nothing against fashionistas, being that I like to consider myself a budding one! Rarity won me over immediately when I saw how focused she was in her introductory scene and her honest desire to look fabulous. 

 

Suited For Success just made me love her more.

 

However, as Season 2 went on, I started becoming more interested in certain other characters, and by my first post on this forum, I was debating whether or not to class her as truly best pony. As of now, she's third place.

Fluttershy was my first, and still is my favourite pony. Heck I pretty much knew she was going to be my favourite before I even watched the show! What can I say, being pretty shy myself (especially back then), I naturally went with the pony that I thought I would relate to the most.

I'd have to agree with Fluttershy being my initial favorite. After her epic stare-down of a dragon in Dragonshy and the adorable moments to follow, how could she not be my favorite? While she still is near the top of my list, she has since been slightly outclassed by other ponies getting more development as the series went on.

Rainbow Dash. I started with the first two episodes of the show and I liked her the best because she was the only pony who was being kind of a jerk. Yeah, it was a while before I grew accustomed to the show and Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy became my favorites.

I liked Fluttershy the most in the beginning. I thought she was just the cutest thing when I first got into the show, and I'd always pay the most attention to her when I watched through it. I also loved how demure her voice sounded. Fluttershy remained my favorite for a while, and then I started to notice that Rainbow Dash is actually really cute too but in a different way.. and ever since then I started to like Rainbow Dash more and more. Fast forward a few months, and now I love RD the most I will always love Fluttershy though (they say you don't forget your first love LOL), but she's not my favorite pony anymore.

My first was Rainbow Dash. But now, I'm kinda moving towards AppleJack or Rarity, and some backround ponies, such as Flitter.
I really don't know who I am going to pick.

It was first Twilight. I decided to watch MLP after a friend from a game (who's a fan of Applejack) told me about it, and in that game I was wearing Twilight's mane as part of my outfit, so I took a liking to Twi immediately.

 

Then I started looking towards Applejack, but back then there were tons of flak about her and I refused to like her, maintaining stubbornly that Twilight was my favorite pony. It was after the Last Roundup where I actually cried when I first watched it that I just couldn't deny it any longer; Applejack is my one and only favorite.

Well seeing how my first episode was Dragonshy, Fluttershy became the character that actually got me to watch more episodes. She is just so cute! I couldn't get enough of this pony 

 

Fluttershy has always been my #1 favorite because I could relate with her character the most. Now fast forward 2 years and I actually find out that I don't relate with Fluttershy as much I used to. I wasn't as shy and timid as I used to be, and I am typically a lot more out going with people. So my favorite pony now would have to be Pinkie Pie. She is crazy fun and out going with everypony, and I just find her fun to watch. I will still love Flutters forever because I think she is probably the cutest of them all, and because of the reminder that she is the only reason I wanted to watch more episodes in the first place.

Pinkie Pie was my initial favorite. Her positive attitude and idealistic worldview are really refreshing, plus I always found her antics very funny.

 

I still liked Rarity back in the early days of season one, but she didn't ascend to number-one status until later in the same season (I want to say it was around the time of Green Isn't Your Color, which was a great Rarity episode). I've been fabulous ever since, and haven't looked back.

Just as I thought, I'm not surprised that fluttershy and rainbow dash are on top.

 

Poor Twilight isn't getting much "love at first sight" , but I'm sure she's many people's current favorite pony .

I find it interesting lot of Fluttershy has been said then people move on to new favorites.

 

Maybe because Fluttershy at first was all kawaii desu and I would imagine a large number of bronies also watch anime so they immediately connected with Fluttershy. Then as the seasons go on, Fluttershy's character doesn't really pan out much and a different pony takes the spotlight in their development.

When I first started watching, Twilight was my favorite because of how relatable I found her to be.

Eventually though, I saw what a great character Rarity was thus bumping her to first and Twilight to second favorite pony.
