What Behaviors do You Label as Immature?

DND

Recommended Posts

Bitching, moaning, whining and complaining about everything, especially the little things, (yes I know I used to do that, used to being the key operative words, but I have stopped), Sulking all day and chucking hissy fits over little things (i.e a favorite game not working), trolling people (unless it is in return), excessive swearing, being incredibly selfish and irresponsible... the list goes on...

Also feeling extremely sorry for yourself and constantly wallowing in self pity is quite immature too, especially when it's over something so small and stupid

not being able to admit your wrongs.

  • Refusing to take responsibility for your own mistakes

Constantly yelling out random words for no reason to the point that it bothers others.

Refusing to change opinions even when proven wrong.

Lack of attention to personal space (meaning, getting too close to you, touching you at random constantly, etc.)

Obsession over one thing that holds your attention at all times. (to an unhealthy extent)

Being completely unable to sit still, or even try to, in some situations.

  • Always thinking that you're always right.

No offense to anyone who thinks that, but everyone makes mistakes and that is why we learn from our mistakes but thinking that you'r always right about everything is just being egotistical and self absorbed.

  • When someone repeats a funny comment/joke you said and takes credit for it.
  • As everyone else has said, drawing penises. What is this? A prison?
  • Agreeing with someone repeatedly just to get them to go away, and being an obvious smart-ass about it.
  • When someone gets mad at you for being yourself but doesn't get mad at someone who does the same thing(s) as you.
  • Directing the attention of the crowd on you when they are being laughed at.

Just the beginning of a very long list.

  • Repeating yourself over, and over again.
  • Being extremely hypocritical

1. I can tend to repeat myself over and over again, not in the course of the same day mind you, but I believe that is because I have terrible memory and often forget if I've told someone something already and then end up repeating it

2. I can tend to be that too, but more often than not, I do realize the mistake I made in something I said and then apologize for it,

so does that make me immature?

I think the biggest one is, "not accepting people for who they are, or just letting them live like they want to as long as it doesn't hurt anyone."

Some people, regardless of age, act like a bunch of first graders, running around screaming "COOTIES!!!".

Being preoccupied with trying to "be mature" and rejecting "kids stuff" because it's , well, kids stuff.

When I was a kid, maybe 14-15 or so, I thought that darker and edgier were automatically better, especially when it came to comics. Luckily I grew out of that.

  • typing lik dis bcuz they r 2 cool for grammer lol omg lmao ftw

  • Needlessly (and, for the most part, off-topically) bashing things they don't like unprovoked.

Whining all of the time about not having what they want, instead of actually doing something about it.

Making a ton of sex jokes, especially when they're just pulled out of something else someone said with no perverse intent in mind. Seriously, one every now and then is cool, but damn...

Wearing footsie pajamas.

Liking your grandmother's cookies.

Being able to recite every single line from the latest Disney movie.

And last, but not least...not being able to admit it when they may have been wrong.

No, you're not immature. I don't think I explained these 2 points well enough, so let me explain them some more.

1.Repeating the same thing over, and over again.

(Warning: Extreme language) Watch the video, and you'll know what I mean. She repeats herself multiple times through out the video. I mean, around the 1 minute mark I don't even know what she is saying but boy does she like repeating it. If you watch other Darien Long Mall Cop Videos filmed in the ghetto part of Atlanta, you'll see that a lot of people here repeat themselves sometimes up to 8 times in a row.

2. When I say extremely hypocritical, I mean extremely. I don't mean being a little hypocritical every now and then. We all are. I was more or less referring to someone in my life, who does hypocritical things on a daily basis. I don't think you know just how hypocritical they can be. Having to deal with this every single day can be annoying. Anyways, this person does not recognize their mistake nor do they apologize for it.

Passing the blame, this gets me worked up so angry, people these days from citizen to politician refuse to accept responsibility for their decisions and mistakes, except when it turns out well, suddenly they soak up the vanity and demand praise. Far too often I see people across the globe blame some country for interfering with its business, "It's all this country's fault so they should pay reparations, or should be destroyed", or people would blame ethnicities or religion, television has indeed become a dark mirror of our cantankerous mortality, and looking back decades from now, I hope it would serve as a cautionary tale, of the folly of shedding blame. Personality superiority is also something I gawk at, this whole believe that a certain system works better than the rest, "Capitalism is better, no socialism is better, democracy is good, no authoritarian is great", I just groan when I see people quarrel over these things on YouTube, thinking that is the place for reasonable debate, not only is it immature, but ignorant as people pull facts out of the popular narrative, using propaganda to pass the blame and look better by comparison. Come on, seize a hold of you lives people, don't surrender your authority to people looking to manipulate for gain, keep your morality and look at the perspective on the other side, people share more in common that we realize, use your eyes to see what immaturity we have stooped down to, so we can fix it and move on.

Using 'u' instead of 'you', spelling 'grammar' as 'grammer', improper use of 'there', and saying 'swag' or 'yolo'.

In case you can't tell, I normally judge a persons intelligence on their grammar.

One thing I absolutely hate and think is really immature and stupid, is when people use acronyms in real life, such as instead of just laughing they say "lol" or "roflmao" stuff like that, I mean, seriously! That is just pathetic and lazy!

It's like "am I not worth the extra breath of air it would've taken you to construct a REAL sentence?"

I see you have listed many different traits ascribed to immature behavior. Most of them are really annoying, but not all of them are the signs of being immature. Some are just plain old assholery ;) and one doesn't have to be immature to be an ass.

If you ask me, I can boil down immaturity to just one single trait: lack of responsibility for one's own actions. Lots of other traits you've mentioned could be derived from it, directly or indirectly. Those which cannot, probably weren't indicators of immaturity in the first place (e.g. enjoying the things youngsters like, such as cartoons etc.).

E.g. Whinning and complaining is the effect of being afraid to take action and being responsible for its outcome. Drawing penes everywhere (the most common trait) or tagging "graffiti": when they feel they will get out from being responsible for it (by being responsible I mean being forced to wash them out). Bullying or laughing at other people, mockery: again, they know no one will draw consequences.

@@Mikami, that's what i call "barking". You know, like these stupid dogs which bark and bark and bark repeatedly as a broken record to scare off the stranger. Probably the same mindset in that video.

In case you can't tell, I normally judge a persons intelligence on their grammar.

I'm allergic to bad grammar, too, if only I can spot the error. But judging someone's intelligence from it is not always a good idea. I, for one, am not a native English speaker, so there's a good chance of me making some weird grammatic errors. Does it make me less intelligent in your eyes? I hope not. At least I try my best to avoid making spelling errors ;-J

BTW how do you see yourself by your measure? You forgot the apostrophe before "s", making it look like a misplaced plural ;)
